I am inserting the records in Database thru asp.net??One of the columns is unique, I want that suppose the user inserted the same value once, control goes to catch block, I wnat to show my own error message ,only if unique index is same ,Rest for the other exceptions,it thrown by .Net?/
currently I am doing an online store project using an example from one of your tutorials. In the grid view is populated with data and at the below of the grid view, there is a row of empty fields populated below. After user have enter all the necessary info and clicks on the Add New link, the data will be inserted into the database and it will also be displayed in the grid view itself. The software that I am using is called: MS VS 2008 C# The database that I am using is called: MS SQL Server 2008 This is the database.cs for inserting records into the database:
Code:
public bool Insert_ItemsRecords(string id, string itemName, string itemDesc) { SqlCommand cmd_ItemsList = new SqlCommand(); cmd_ItemsList.CommandText = "[VRM].[INSERT_ItemsRecords]"; cmd_ItemsList.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd_ItemsList.Parameters.Clear(); SqlParameter sqlParaID = new SqlParameter("@id", SqlDbType.VarChar, 10); sqlParaID.Value = id; cmd_ItemsList.Parameters.Add(sqlParaID); SqlParameter sqlParaItemName = new SqlParameter("@itemName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 100); sqlParaItemName.Value = itemName; cmd_ItemsList.Parameters.Add(sqlParaItemName); SqlParameter sqlParaItemDesc = new SqlParameter("@itemDesc", SqlDbType.VarChar, 1000); sqlParaItemDesc.Value = itemDesc; cmd_ItemsList.Parameters.Add(sqlParaItemDesc); return executeNotQuery(cmd_ItemsList); } This is the stored procedure:
Code:
ALTER PROCEDURE [OS].[INSERT_ItemsRecords] @id varchar(10), @itemName varchar(100), @itemDesc varchar(1000) .................
I am using DataAdapter.FillSchema to create shema of tables in DataSet. I created DataRelation on columns T1id in both tables.
Now when i try to Update Sql Database T1id in Table2 remains 0 and not the value of T1id in Table1.
I can successfully update Sql Database if i fill DataSet with records first (Using DataAdapter.Fill), but that's not what i want to do. I don't need "old" records in my dataset. I want to use dataset just to store all imputs from user until the proccess is done and then insert all those records "at the same time".
currently I am doing a web application project using 3-tier formating to do out the project. In the grid view is displayed with data retrieved from the database and at the footer there is a row of empty fields for the user to insert records into database and when user clicks on Add New, a new row of empty fields will be populated below.
The database.cs and stored procedure is used to stored the data into the database.

This is the stored procedure code:

I am not sure of how to code out for the business logic?
I code this in business logic but its wrong as the error states the Insert method could not be found:
I have Gridview on my webapplication and it is getting filled with multiple rows . When clicked on Save I want to Insert all rows without calling multiple database hits.
Is there any way I can insert all rows by single db hit?
Conseptually what I'm doing is simple, and technically it may even be simple, but I'm still rusty. Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a webform that allows the user to enter a new record, and in there I have also included a couple FileUpload controls. Upon clicking the "Save" button, I'm saving the details entered into one table (ITEMS), and also inserting the FileUpload details (path, id, upload_user) into another table ATTACHMNTS). Because one ITEM can have many attachments, I needed to split the tables up. So on save, I need to save the ITEM, save the ATTACHMENT, and then also put the ITEM_ID in the ATTACHMENT table. I'm second guessing myself because I think all I'd have to do is after I do the ITEM insert, do a SELECT MAX on the ITEM table and hold the newest (MAX) id in a variable and then use it in the ATTACHMENTS update. I'm not 100% on this because there IS a chance that someone else could save a few milliseconds later and I'll link the wrong ITEM. See my delima?
The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.
All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.
So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?
I need to run a variable amount of insert statements. Is it best to run through a loop and execute the query one at a time? Or, is there a way to send all the inserts in one go?
I am trying to insert about 100,000 in my SQL Server database. It is really slow when I create 100,000 separate queries, so I tried to insert all these records in one query, it worked for the first few thousands records but then it threw me a timeout error.
What would be the fastest way to insert multiple records into database?
Suppose we have a website with 10,000 viewers each second. And we want to insert the viewer's information to the SQL database. So we must insert 10,000 records to the SQL each second. And it may take long time to do.
I worked with LINQ to SQL to insert and delete the data, but i want to use LINQ TO ENTITY to insert the data but i know LINQ to ENTITY is used for querying the database.I have searched the code for inserting records but i dint get any.
DB2 table TB1 has the same fields but diff column names
1. TotalFloat
2. OriginalDuration
3. StartDate
4. FinishDate
5. EearlyStart
6. EearlyFinish
7. strComments
DB1 table has arround 7000 rows. What my requirement is: Copy all the rows from DB1.TB1 into DB2.tblTarget .What I am doing is?Looping all the records from the db1 table and by using InsertCommand adding all thoses records to a dataset. Now using Adapter.Update method,,,, all the records are fethecd to target database table.but when Adater.Update() method executes, it paused there for 3-5 minutes. Can I acheieve this in a quick manner? Please help me out of this, as this ia very critical task.I would like to achieve this via coding.
i need to insert multiple rows at a time into database table(sqlserver) from datatable or gridview. Actually iam looping through the rows of gridview and inserting each row. Is there any method to insert entire table of rows at a time into database table. Both datatable columns and database table coulmns are similar.
I have grid view in ASP.Net 3.5. I need to add multiple blank rows in a gridview and then have to save them in database. How can I do that in most simplest way?
I want to have footer to insert the records in Gridview,I m binding the Gridview with the DataTable.
On page load ,I have no row in DataTable,SO Gridview is not shown.SO i insert the one row in DataTable on Page load so dat the Gridview is displayed.
I want to ask that is it possible to display Gridview on page load ,widout havng a row in DataTable because on page load I do not have any row in Datatable
Using the ASP.NET grid view. It displays 3 columns with 1 row for each, displaying an integer saved in the database. I would like to have a text input one for each column, so the user can add a new row of integers to the database. (The table only displays the last row updated, that part seems to be working OK)
Here is the code I have that displays data but without the input option I would like.
What is the way this is done in ASP.NET (3.5)? Are there more options in the control or do I need to manually bring in text input controls and give each one manual code to update the database?
I have code for inserting a record into the db, it works fine from the admin part of my website but when i put it on the customer side duplicate records are inserted into the db, any ideas? I cant for the life of me see why. I have just also noticed that when i add the claim the first time it adds the duplicate entry, if i press the button again it only adds the entry once, if i refresh the page add the info again, 2 entries, click add again 1 entry?
I need to insert records in my webapp into a simple sql-db-table. The thing is, that the user chooses the position of every new record to insert. If I take an integer index, and the user want to insert an object between the 3rd and the 4th object, it is not possible, because 3.5 is no integer-value. An index of real could be the solution. Probably a litte complicated, as soon as a new object needs to be inserted between 3.45 and 3.89 (example).
If you know an easier approach for inserting records at any position by having the ability to sort by the initially choosen order (index?)
