View 1 RepliesI have a page and on that page i have a button and a user control. I want to refresh the user control without refreshing the page.
I know i cannot do it otherwise so i did is...
(wrapped my user control inside the Update Panel.)
<asp:TextBox ID="txtName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox><br />
<asp:Button ID="btnAdd" runat="server" Text="Add name to list" OnClick="btnAdd_Click" /><br /><br />
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="upShowNames" runat="server">

</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnAdd" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
but i still the control wont refresh. i also tried calling the update panels .Update() method by changing its UpdateMode to Conditional but that does not work either...does any one know how can we do it then..
I have a user control that is not visible on the page when the page is first loaded. I have a textbox and on the textchanged event I'm making the control visible, however the control does not reload. Is there a way to refresh the control?

View 8 RepliesI've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page
and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?
I have placed a label in user control. I am assigning a value from database during page load of user control and it works perfectly.
After database is udpated with new value, it is not reflected in the user control. I need to refresh the page to see the updated value. Can any one pls guide me how to update the label value in user control in aspx page.
I have a user control at the top of my page which shows name of user.when I update user name on my page and submit the data , all data is updated but at the top in user control the name is not refreshed it shows previouse one.
how to refresh user control on update.
I have a couple of user controls in an Ajax enabled page. Both controls are within TabPanels.
I'd like to be able to refresh certain items within userControl1, from userControl2.
I've added a public sub within userControl1 named "doRefresh" (that does what I need) but I can't work out how to reference it from userControl2.
Can anyone perhaps point me in the right direction with this?
I have around 8 user controls on a page with a form in each of them. I have a dropdown list that allows you to select a form, with a selectedindexchanged event that hides the current form and shows the requested form.
There is some javascript that needs to fire when each form loads. Now, when you click on a form for the first time, the javascript fires as it should, but if you click the dropdown to change the form, then click back to a previous form, the javascript doesn't fire (because the user control is already loaded).
Is there anything I can do to trigger a postback, or reload/refresh the user control whenever an option is selected from the drop down?
I need to trigger a postback or self refresh a user control from one of the functions in the same user control.
Problem is that I am setting the selected value of a dropdown control in this usercontrol but it does not actually show up until after a postback.
This I came to know after I found that the said drop down shows the current value only after I click on another button.
I need to do this on the server side in the function given below:
public void FillDropDown()
{
FillProgramList(select);
//if (Request.Cookies["prgname"] != null)
//{......
have two user controls on one aspx page. UC1 has a grid which contains a link button column which user clicks. Based on the value of clicked cell, I need to show some data into UC2.How do I pass data from UC1 to UC2? How do I invoke a function of UC2 from UC1?
View 2 RepliesIt's simple to create both user control from the two world : ASP.NET+Razor or MVC 3.0.But i do not known how to consume the user control FROM the razor"_layout.chtml" page.I want to put such thing within the layout page: <uc:MyTag Prop1="" Prop2="" />So i need to declare this directive at top of the layout file : <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc" TagName="MyTag" Src="Controls/Mytag.ascx" %>
View 1 RepliesI don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
i have:
- Default.aspx;
- user1.ascx: 1st user control containing repeater;
- user2.ascx: 2nd user control containing a detail view of row.
In page.aspx i dinamically load the repeater inside a user1.ascx.
after i want to dinamically load the 2nd user control also in default.aspx by a button inside a user1.ascx.
How i can do this? I can't load user2.ascx inside user1.ascx but only in aspx page.
I am trying to create a web page, that use a user-control (the user control is win-form).I am getting the message : That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.I put the dll on c:windowsassembly, but I don't know why I getting the above.Here is my code

In my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?
I have on dropdown that show hide user control. In the user control i have Ok and Cancel button.
When the dropdown change i want to apply ValidationGroup on the Ok button that is inside UserControl.
I have a label on my master page (called mainMenu) that shows the number of items in a cart. The label wasn't getting updated when the cart was cleared until after an additional postback or redirect so I created a method on the master page called UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart to update the label text.
Using the MasterType directive on the Cart page allowing me to strongly type the master page, I can access the update method from the Cart page. There is a user control also named Cart that actually contains the 'clear cart' button so I setup an event on the user control also called UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart. I wire up the Cart control's event on the Cart page which then makes a call to Master.UpdateNumberOfItemsInCart();
So far so good except when I wrap the Cart control with an update panel the update to the cart count label doesn't happen.

I have created a web user control I want to change the iframe' src value when the user click on the link but the problem is that I dont have access to iframe inside the page from web user control I think there is a way because my control is in the page they have some relation perhaps I like to find something like this :
[code]...
I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs.
As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup. The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
I thought I had found a solution by using...
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, Me.GetType, UniqueID + "_Dialog_Div", containerDiv, False)
... which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."
How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?
I want to put a Login Control and a Create User Control on the same page.. just wondering, before I start am I going to run into any problems by doing this?
View 2 RepliesWhat i am trying to do here is to show a couple of validation messages in form of a bulletlist, so i have a Div on my master page containing a asp:bulletlist. Like this:
<div>
<asp:BulletedList ID="blstValidationErrorMessage" runat="server" BulletStyle="Disc">
</asp:BulletedList>
</div>
When i then click the Save button from any of my pages (inside the main contentPlaceHolder) i create a list of messages and give this list as datasouce like this:
blstValidationErrorMessage.DataSource = validationMessageCollection;
blstValidationErrorMessage.DataBind();
The save button is located inside an updatepanel:
asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Conditional">
Nothing happens, i can see that the datasource of the bulletlist contains X items, the problems must arise because the Save button is inside an update panel and the elements outside this updatepanel (master page controls for example) is not refreshed.
So my question is, how do i make the bulletlist refresh after the postback?
i have a website that has html tables <tr></tr> tags. I have problems with refreshing my page. When the select a radiobutton of a list, there should apear a other control. But that only happens when i refresh the page my clicking on a button. So i thought of using ajax.
