AJAX :: Fastest Way To Retreive Data From Database From Webservice?
Jan 25, 2010I'm using Webservice which will return the data from the database through datatable and I'll convert the datatable into byte array. In front end, I'll reconvert the bytearray to datatable and used ajaxloader to display it in the form.. It is dynamic loading. So, for each click, it is taking 10 seconds to retreive the data regardless of the size of the data. So, I used static datatable and I've loaded all data in that datatable in page load event. But, no reaction. It is taking only same time. Even, there is no data to retreive, the ajax loader is going on loading for 10 seconds. Problem is with Ajax or my webservice?? Plz, tell me some other idea??!!

I'm sure it's a common problem but I can't figure out the right keywords to search for the solution so I'm sorry if this is a duplicate.I have a dataset where I've used the Generate Insert, Update, and Delete statements as well as the Refresh the Data Table options so that I can retrieve the last inserted ID when I'm using an ObjectDatasource.however, when I'm handling the ObjectDataSource-Inserted method, I'm getting a 1 as a return value, which I assume is the affected rows. I don't want that, I want the ID so that I can use it in my code.I looked at the generated code for the insert method and it is doing a SELECT after inserting, but it returns the whole row not the ID, so how can I get at this row to retrieve the value?

Textboxes ID are :ACode , ADesc , ASeq
DropDown ID is :CPhase

Now whats the story is ?After adding some data into textboxes , when a user clicks ADDRow BTN , that data gets saved into datatable , then that datatable gets binded to gridview and it shows my textboxes data in it .
What i want to achieve ?In my gridview i am use templateField and inside that template field there are textboxes ( Let the users edit the row without clicking any button ) .
Take an example of dummy data and problem persisting in there :for e.g i put some data in textboxes :ACode = "ABCD"ADesc = "EFGH"ASeq = "HIJK"Then i click Add BTN , it saves the data in datatable and show in gridview , now if i do this in gridview :ACode = "Edited ABCD"ADesc = "Edited EFGH too"ASeq = "WoW There"Then i click Add BTN , it removes the edited record in gridview and shows original data which had came earlier from textboxes :ACode = "ABCD"ADesc = "EFGH"ASeq = "HIJK"I don't want that to be done ... If there is a data populated into gridview it is showing GridView footer and inserting data but if there is no data in gridview then its footer also not visible.

Can we enable/disable OR Hide/Unhide '+' sign. depending on if child rows exits.2. OR alteast we can put some bgcolor indicating to user that this record do have child rows. Without any indicator user may feel quite annoying to click on '+' sign and nothing happens.

Apr 22, 2010Using vb.net/asp.net 2005.I have an inner gridview.The outer gridview is "Authors" and in the inner gridview (GridView1 below) I have to set it up so that the user cannot delete the last book from the inner grid, if they try to delete the last book from that inner grid then I want to show the exception message below.
So I am checking the GridViewRows1.Rows.Count which works great when I have one record (one book) to start with. The problem is when I have 2 books (for example). I am writing out the test statement below and the RowCount is always 2 each time, never decremented, even after I rebind.Editing this now: i realize that my initial logic is faulty because when I rebind my inner gridview I am not specifying which inner gridview so the result is that only the last inner gridview is being re-bound, so I think that I need to get the selected inner gridview and then refresh that...

Mar 9, 2010I had a problem with my site in the past couple days and have almost recovered, but now I'm stuck on some code that has an Auto-Complete feature, which allows a user to type a name of a pub into a TetxBox, and based on the returned names, the user can click one and see that name in the GridView (just below the TextBox). The GridView was set up so that there was an href that the user could click on and that would open a window and the user would see the pub in Google Maps. The code below works just fine for the Auto-Complete and the GridView.

The code above worked fine before, but I'm not sure how it was incorporated into the GridView, and since I had a problem with my site a few days ago, I haven't been able to figure out this part.I'd sincerely appreciate any help in getting this up and running again.
