We have an application process that consists of several web forms. If the user clicks to go back a step we would like to auto-populate the fields. I am assuming there is a common generic way to do this without having to mess with individual controls - what is it?
i m having problem with logout code in asp.net with c#. this logout code should end session, disable browser's back button and and if somebody try to login by paste the url of any user account page.i used this code in login page
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Session["name"] = TxtUserName.Text;
}
and in logout i used this

I am trying to see if it possible to create a back button that goes back 3 pages and refreshes that page. The make up of my page is a little complex. The Home page has a password prompt that enables a multiview to be visible with a gridview of information. The gridview has a details link that has a 2 querystrings that gets sent to the details page. The details page has the ability to be edited and updated. this is why I wanted it to go back 3 pages. The code I am using to go back is
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" OnClientClick="javascript:history.go(-3);return false;" Text="Back" UseSubmitBehavior="False" />
I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page.
Now i am using - Response.Redirect(Request.UrlReferrer.ToString()),
It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same serdetail page. How to track that.
Is it possible to use cross-page postbacks (or a similar method, perhaps Server.Transfer) to post form data (say, Data-set A) to a page, which then allows the user to add some additional information (say, Data-set B) and then postback to the original page the complete set of data (A+B) which then flows through the normal event execution process, similar to as if all data A+B was submitted on the original page to itself in a normal postback?
I don't want the second page to have any type knowledge of the original page, it just needs to supply two additional feeds and send the data on. This way different pages and controls could use this method for gaining additional data.
For example:
Page 1 could have a form with various text inputs, and two hidden fields Hidden1 + Hidden2 which are empty.
When the form on page 1 is submitted the user is presented with page 2, they complete that page and then all the form data from page 1 is posted back to page 1 but with the hidden fields 1 + 2 complete. Page 1 then has all the information it needs to complete.
I'm thinking that perhaps page 2 just needs to use PreviousPage and take its post data, add to it and then post it back to page 1, but as if it came from Page 1 and not Page 2. But I'm not sure if this is possible and ASP.NET might read this as tampered data?
I am using ASP.net with C#.After I logout its possible to go back to pages using back button.I could fix the prob for the login.I have prob with the logout.I am using the inbuilt login page provided by the asp editor.Should I use sessions?

Searching StackOverflow, I found this question on how to Retrieve SMTP settings from Web.Config, but no details on how to update the SMTP back to the web.config file.
I started with the following code:
Configuration webConfig = WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("~");
MailSettingsSectionGroup settings =
(MailSettingsSectionGroup)webConfig.GetSectionGroup("system.net/mailSettings");
SmtpSection smtp = settings.Smtp;
SmtpNetworkElement net = smtp.Network;
but was quickly clued in by Intellisense that SmptSection.Network is a Get (aka "read-only") accessor.
So how am I supposed to programmatically write my SMTP data back to web.config?

Introduction:In modified list page I have html controls to filter data in table. By default data in main table is not filtered. This page can view and filter data authenticated && non-authenticated users. For storing membership information I use ASP.NET membership.
Question: My Simple Grid table:
<table>
<thead>
<tr>[code]...
Also have simple html elements to filter data in upper table after button click. After user click on "City name" page redirrects to Details Page. And in Details page user can click on button Back to List. How to save previous filter options, when user clicked on back to list button. Now in when user clicked on btn "back to List",
table loaded with default data (it is bad).
Aim: How to realize saving previous post for registered and unregistered users, if this tables more in other pages (not one).
Also, how to realize saving optional parameters registered users.
Notes:
I use SQL Server 2008.
I bind my data to say GridView or Datagrid or Repeater and give user the ability to remove columns and save his preference and to show the saved preference when he logs back again. (In nutshell Customizable Grid.) How to go about it?
View 2 RepliesI'm using a wizard control with 4 steps, when I use the previous button to navigate back to the previous step the page reloads but at the bottom of the page.Instead of showning the whole of the page, the user views the footer of the site and the previous button and next button.I'm sure there is a very simple answer to this but I just can't figure out how to get the page to reload to the top.

View 2 RepliesI have a gridview bound to a sqldatasource with editing enabled. If I click Edit, then either Cancel or Update, the update or cancel occurs and the Edit button reappears. However, I cannot then click the browser's back button without having the Update and Cancel buttons reappear. A second click of the back button takes me to a state where the Edit button shows again, *then* another back button click will take me to the referring page (the one before the one with the gridview on it.) IOW, it looks like the postbacks are cached. How can I prevent this and have the back button go straight to the referring page?
View 4 Repliesi have a gridview that has the ability to sort by each of the columns, but suppose if i'm on page 2 of the results and sort any of the columns, it jumps back to page 1. is there a way to keep it on page 2, still have the sorted date work?
View 3 RepliesI have a little issue with my site. I have a page that hosts a google map. However the map does not get shown until the user clicks a button. It then call $.getJSON to get the addresses that i need to show on the map...
$.getJSON(theurl, function(json) {
...
}
It all works fine. However if the user then moves to a different page and then clicks the Back button they get the data from the $.getJSON call displayed, not the page itself. It's as if the call to get the addresses has become part of the browsing history. If the user hits refresh when the data appears the full page then gets displayed.Can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening.I'm using the googlemap in an ASP.Net MVC site.
Considering three webpages. In all pages there are gridivews. The gridview columns has numeric data.
When user click on data figure suppose 29 then it redirects to other page with 29 records. In the redirected page if user again click on data suppose 12 then it redirects to another page with 12 records.
I want to give option to user that if form third page he wants to go back by clicking a hyperlink on that page then the second should appear in its previous state i.e. have showing the clicked value 29 and if he wants to go the first page then first page should keep and display its previous state with the searched data.
Page1>Page2>Page3
Page1<Page2<Page3

How to call server side functions in JavaScript ASP.Net
I am currently looking for a good solution that implements this. I have a comments section and I want the comments posted to my database using jquery and then the section gets refreshed without having to reload the page. How feasible is this and does it have any security or performance issues?
View 2 RepliesI have a gridview with paging. So for instance, I'm on say the page number 10, and I open the form details on a specific record_id (link). After I update/submit the form, it returns to page number 10. But, if I go to another page, for instance page 5, and submit the form, it returns to page 10.
I've tried some things, for instance history.back(), but it returns to the first page I went to, in this case page number 10 (or whatever the first page I go to).
