Is it possible to disable the browserCaps functionality in ASP.NET?
I wish my site to be served reliably and exactly as I have it defined to all browsers regardless of their capabilities.
If their browser can't support the site, that's their problem. My site should not be some how attempting to degrade itself to accommodate the defunct client.
This is very frustrating when it seems to have the bad luck of spiders I guess crawling the site, getting the lesser version of the site causing output caching to serve the stripped file.
while studying a way of properly detecting crawlers on our ASP.NET application, I came across Owen Brady's broswercaps project. In order to use it, I did this: Created App_Browsers folder Created Spiders folder in the above Downloaded [OceanSpiders.browser.xml][2] and renamed it to OceanSpiders.browser so, the final final looking like App_Browsers/Spiders/OceanSpiders.browser. I do have NET Framework 4 installed on my dev machine, but targeting NET Framework 3.5. The problem is a parser error: 'The browser or gateway element with ID 'docomon505i' cannot be found.' I did google/search on SO, but could not find a solution.
In one of my Web Page, there is one Modal Pop up, in which I am using Gridview Edit, Update, CancelEdit, Delete functionality.Main functionality is : If while deleting any of the Gridview Row, if only 1 row remains in Gridview (that row can be any row), then that row should not get deleted.Rest of Edit, Update, CancelEdit functionally is working fine.
problem is: When any last row is left in Gridview, its Delete button is disables that time (as per requirement and functionality). But when user clicks on Gridview "Edit" button, update section opens, and at that time "Delete" button gets Enabled, so that time user can delete the last row of Gridview which should not be done.I had fixed this problem for "Cancel" and "Update" button of Gridview using below line:
Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri); but unable to fix it for "Edit" button of Gridview. If Last row is left in Gridview , and user clicks on Gridview "Edit" button of that row, then at that time "Delete" button should not get "enabled" it should remain "disabled"
I have a simple javascipt which enables/disables some checkboxes when another checkbox ticked/unticked. This works fine, however, in some instances when by page is loaded my code behind disables the same check boxes. When this happenes my original check box nolonger seems to have any influence in enableing or disabling - there is no error and all the elements seem to be found by the javascript - it just doesn't enable/disable the checkboxes.
The problem is that, if a user haven't selected anything, the whole tabcontainer must be disabled. If I disable the tabcontainer it in de codebind, the tabcontainer grayed out but the user can click the tabs.
I can disable one tab in javascript but how can I disable the whole tabcontainer?
We are working on a unique eCommerce site. This site is distinctive because when a purchase is made its not made by one person, but a group or "Collaborative" decisions. Individuals can add items to the shopping cart, but in the end the purchase is decided by the group in a "Collaborative" effort or Team Effort. So each team member is given tasks, inter-team messaging, can rate functionality with surveys, set milestones, rank specific features that are important to them. Another big part is that many aspects of the site allow for comments from members of the group. So many of the items in the application are "comment able" by the team. Is there anything we can buy (C#/ASP.NET/MVC) that gives us this functionality. Comment, Task, Survey, Rating, Messaging, Ranking Collaboration engine?
In my application, every time the active tabpage changes, I connect to a database, fill a datatable, and bind it to my data control. That's all the functionality.
The main reason I don't want to use the ajax tabcontrol is because of the way it's rendered on the browser. Assuming that tabcontrol.autopostback is true, the user clicks on another tabpage and he will see the tab change, and for a fraction of a second he'll see the data previously displayed in that tab. Then the page will do postback and the data in that tabpage will be refreshed. It just seems awkward. I also want it to work even if javascript is disabled.
I also tried using the multiview control, but it doesn't work without javascript.I simply want a "tabcontrol" similar to the one used on ebay.com. Once you do a search, you'll see three tabs: "All items", "Auctions only", and "Buy It Now Only". I can have everything disabled (active scripting, Flash, etc) and they still work.
I want to enable trace functionality. It works perfectly fine on the default.aspx.cs pages that have
using System.Web; on it. But whenever I try to use inside my custom namespace (in a class) it's not available. So I figured i would add
"using System.Web;" on that page as well. So Now, I have TraceContext popping up but I dont' see Trace.Write() method. i want to have trace.write() available on other pages. isn't that the reason for including a reference "using System.Web;"??
i want that while writing some text in an asp.net textbox, a listview page should open which will show the related topics containing that text just below that txtbox .

I am trying to re-create the functionality seen on 43things.com, where you enter a text and it gets added to the list below and also brings up "123 people want to do this". This entry seems to be permanently stored when you are visiting the site from your machine. I am just wondering how this works? Is it just a cookie placed on the user's machine? I also wanted to know how I could do the text addition in Ajax rather than having to postback? For ex. I just want an entry to be made and the "xxx want to do this" displayed as soon as the text has been submitted, like how it works with Facebook comments. Is there a component in AJAX control toolkit for ASP.net for this - I couldn't seem to find one?
I was looking at the default register functionality within the MVC , to learn from it. So on the register view the found the following code for the regester.aspx button;

But i did not understand how the visual studio knows what to do when the user clicks on the register button to perform the register functionalities?
I am designing a question module.What i want is while i'm typing something in a textbox (called title), it should list titles of other questions that have already been asked. But not done as AutoCompleteText.
I'd like those listed questions to pop up near the textbox and be set as a hyperlink, and by clicking on that link will result in the user being taken to that questions page to view all the available things about it.
Pretty much there would be an icon on the site. clicking it would bring up a pop up window with following fieds:
Name Email
you would then be able to fill out the page and an email would be sent to "email" provided in the "Email" field. The problem is: How do i know what page i'm on so that I can put it in the message?

i need to implement a tab functionality in a web page, which displays different gridviews on click of each tab. There might also be navigation buttons inside each tab for displaying popup and refreshing back the tab content on closing the popup.
Kindly let me know what approach would be an efficient way of implement this.
In my mind there are two options,
a) simply use imagebuttons(as i need to have custom image for tab header which i am not able to do it in ajax tabcontainer) and multiview controls to display various tab contents in a single *.aspx page(But i think this would mess up the aspx page with lot of code, as i need to have approx six gridview and its functions).
b) use an iframe instead of mutliview and make each tab content as seperate *.aspx page. (but i find there is postback occuring on movement from one tab to another even if i button iframe inside updatepanel & some people are request not to use iframes).
in asp.net 2.0 application i have a emailing module where i have used tiny_mce scripting it works fine
i need to give an additional functionality like in outlook expresss ie attaching/creating a template
how do i do it may be a word or html template which can be attached to the body part . the template shld be a custom template that can be created by user
