JQuery - JSTree / Selecting Node / Can't Seem To Get ID?
Sep 10, 2010
Currently, I'm using an AJAX Handler to populate the JSTree:
$(function () {
$("#jstree").jstree({
"json_data": {
"ajax": {
"url": "AJAXHandler.aspx?action=GetMenu"
[Code]...
The idea here is to bind the move_node to a function that will hit the handler and update the database as to where I moved the object. I've been able to create the bind to do that. The problem, however, is that I can't seem to obtain the ID. I'm setting it in the attributes in the population of the JSON object, but when I do a watch on the NODE and REF objects via console.log, the id field is empty.

I currently have a JSTree all set up to do the creation and renaming of a new node:
.bind("create_node.jstree", function (NODE, REF_NODE) {
$.ajax({
async: false,
cache: false, [code]...
The problem is that my success doesn't seem to get hit when I return an integer ID on the create node, thus I can't set it to a global variable. What exactly do I need to return in the function to get back the ID from the server? I'm simply returning a new integer right now.

I am trying to get jStree (jQuery tree control) working in my ASP.NET (C#) page. I'm using a WCF service to return a test string of JSON. Opening the WCF service URL in the browser works fine - If I go to the URL (http://localhost/website/GetTree) I get the JSON (looks just like opening XML in browser, with syntax highlighting and collapsible tab thingys)
<string xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/">{"attr": { "id": 2, "rel": "default" }, "data": "A node", "children": [ { "data": "Child 1", "attr": { "id": 43, "rel": "document" } }, {"data": "Child 2", "attr": { "id": 25, "rel": "document"} } ] }</string>
jstree itself works fine - if I put the same JSON in "manually" in my document.ready like so:
"json_data": {
"data":
[{
"attr": { "id": 2, "rel": "default" },
"data": "A node",
"children":
[{
"data": "Child 1", "attr": { "id": 43, "rel": "document" }
},{
"data": "Child 2", "attr": { "id": 25, "rel": "document"}
}]},{
"attr": { "id": "li.node.id", "rel": "document" },
"data": {
"title": "Long format demo",
"attr": { "href": "#" }
}}]},
I get the tree appearing with those nodes in it.
But, combining the two:
"json_data": {
"ajax": {
"url": "GetTree",
"data": function (n) {
return {
};
}
}
},
fails. The jstree shows up as just the word "loading..." and an animated loading gif. And it does hit a breakpoint inside the WCF service method (just like browsing to it does).
A: An idea where I've gone wrong?
B: An idea how I find out what's wrong? jstree documentation was no , and I can't see any error messages.
Update: solved

I am using a treeview control. I am buliding the tree dynamically. sometimes the tree becomes larger and the down scroll bar is need to see the entire tree. user can select a node from the tree. if one node is selected ,i change the color of the node from server side.
my problem is that if a user selected a node which is bottom in the tree(means, the user used the down scrollbar to see that node), after postback it shows the top of the tree.to see the selected node the user need to use the down scroll bar.
I need to show the selected node after postback. How can I do this?
I am using c# and asp.net

Why does microsoft make objects in .NET with incomplete behavioural methods, then expect everyone to use a client side "language" to help complete the methods? I don't wanna have to use Javascript to keep focus on my leaf node in my TreeView after clicking it. I want a server side answer to my question, but if that's impossible I guess I can run ANOTHER javascript bandaid to do this, since I guess Microsoft doesn't have a solution. Oh and By the Way if your going to post an answer please remember I'm using WEBFORMS not WINFORMS. God help people who try to run my app (or any .net app) and don't have Javascript enabled on thier browsers. Does Microsoft own Javascript? Maybe since they rely so heavily on help from the client side to achieve behaviours, they ought to think about acquiring it.

I have been tinkering around with what should seem a pretty straight forward task even for a jQuery newb as myself.
I have a radiobuttonlist control bound to a collection:
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="radBtnLstPackageSelector" runat="server"
CssClass="PackageS">
</asp:RadioButtonList>
My form does have several other controls of the same type; Now, the challenge is to select and wire up a on Click event for every radiobutton from the radBtnLstPackageSelector.I have tried several approaches such as:
var results1 = $(".PackageS").children("input");
var results1 = $(".PackageS").children("input[type=radiobutton");
var results1 = $("table.PackageS > input[type=radiobutton");

I inherited a site which I am in the middle of updating which has a DropDownList and a RangeValidator assigned to it. The data is bound to the dropdown on Page_Load. The values are retrieved from the database so the value property of each item is set to the unique ID of the item in the DB.
The RangeValidator looks something like:
<asp:rangevalidator id="ddRangeValidator" runat="server" ControlToValidate="ddMenu" ErrorMessage="Please select value in range" MinimumValue="1" MaximumValue="100000" Type="Integer">*</asp:rangevalidator>
I have a method which automatically populates this value in jQuery e.g.
$("#ddMenu").val("An Option");
This works, however, when I try to post the page the range validation fails. Then even if I manually select that value, or select another valid value it still won't validate. The only way to make it validate is to select non-valid value and then re-selecting a valid one.
Here is the data binding code:
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load, Me.Load
If Not Page.IsPostBack Then
Dim ds As New DataSet()
Dim myDbObject As New myDbObject()
ds = myDbObject.ToDataSet() // retrieves all objects from the database

I'm using the jsTree jQuery plugin and want to execute code when the user double clicks a node.
I can't seem to get it to work. I found some documentation on a ondblclk event but it doesn't fire.
browser.jstree(
{
plugins: ["themes", "json_data", "ui", "cookies"],
callback:
{
ondblclk: function (node, tree) {
if (!thisReportBrowserthis._isFoldersOnly) {
var f = node;
}
}
}
}
);
How can I handle double click events with jstree?

I'm trying to find an ajax.net extender element with a dynamically generated ID. I'm trying to wire up an event handler to close all ajax.net modal popups when 'escape' is pressed. I'm confused why one of these works and one does not.
$find('ctl00_MainContent_ucUserControl1_mpePopup'); //returns the element
$find('[id="ctl00_MainContent_ucUserControl1_mpePopup"]'); //returns null
The ultimate goal is to be able to find the element without hard wiring the ID into the selector: $find('[id$="_mpePopup"]'); //return all elements that end with "_mpePopup"

I created a sitemap with a treeview navigation in my aspx site. I am hoping someone can show me the code to put in a Masterpage so that when I expand a child node, all other nodes collapse, and when I expand another node, the previous expanded node collapses.
I have an example here of what I am trying to accomplish:

I'm populating a treeview dynamically. On OnTreeNodePopulate I call a sub and populate the Parent nodes. I do not want to populate the child nodes at this time. Upto this point it works fine.
Now I would like the user to click the parent node and then populate the child node. I tried to use TreeNodeExpanded, but that is called for each parent node, so that didn't work.
