Javascript - Page Title Goes Missing After WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions Is Used

Nov 25, 2010

I am having this problem with webpart in our Sharepoint 2010 site. There are tabs with links like this one:

<a id="ctl00_m_g_d9ca320c_03e7_455c_9233_3c23891113ed" href="javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$m$g_d9ca320c_03e7_455c_9233_3c23891113ed$Itella", "", true, "", "", false, true))">

After the user clicks on such link page title goes missing. It just disappears from title tag inside head tag. Sharepoint still has this title in metadata, and after refreshing whole page title is back again. I have a feeling that this javascript function is not working well or settings inside are not good. Also it looks like this is generated by sharepoint.

C# - Output Javascript Selectively Depending On Application Settings?

Feb 24, 2010

I am developing a site which includes several different javascript files and libraries. For optimization purposes I have implemented YUI Compressor for .Net

This will minimize and combine my javascript files into one single file.

Now I have put this up in a MSBuild script that automatically does the compression and minimization and outputs it to a file of my choosing. However, I still wish to keep the original javascript files in my development environment. My question is simply:

Is there a good way to depending on the Debug setting for example choose which javascript to use? This to not have to change the MasterPage by hand each time I release the build.

Allow me to illustrate.

If I am running in Debug="true" I wish my MasterPage to include the following javascripts:

<script type="text/javascript" src="first.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="second.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="third.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="fourth.js"></script>

If I am running in Debug="false" I wish this to be outputted in the MasterPage:

<script type="text/javascript" src="compressedAndMinimized.js"></script>

C# Trying To Serialize An Enum Type Serverside And Then Output It In Clientside JavaScript

Jun 18, 2010

Let's say I have a function that takes a string. That string contains the fully name of an enum type (e.g. "MyCompany.Area.AotherNamespace.MyEnum").

How could I create an array of strings (or List<string>) whose elements are the values of MyCompany.Area.AotherNamespace.MyEnum?

Is that even possible?I'm basically trying to serialize an enum type serverside and then output it in clientside JavaScript so I don't have to define an enum in two places--in my C# and my JavaScript.

C# - To Intercept And Modify The Html Output Stream In .net, To Combine The Javascript?

Jan 5, 2011

Is there some way to intercept the HTML output stream in asp.net and make modifications? Eg using httpmodules or something? I know this is possible using java servlets and assume there must be an elegant way to do this with asp.net.

My purpose is to combine the many javascript files into one composite script which has been minified/packed, to make the page load faster.Eg, if my page normally outputs the following in the page head:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/blah.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/yada.js"></script>

I want to replace that with the following:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/all.js"></script>
(also i realise i'll have to create all.js somehow).

AJAX :: JavaScript Generated Output Using Document.write Does Not Appear In UpatePanel?

Oct 5, 2010

I have a ListView (in an UpdatePanel) connected to a LinqDataSource. When the page loads and/or I navigate through Postback, the code snippet (below) will display the following output:

[email.gif] someone@adomain.com [email.gif] www.adomain.com

However, when I use a few DropDownLists (also in the UpdatePanel) to filter the results (reset the DataSource to a Linq query and call DataBind), the same Contact is displayed like this:

[email.gif] [email.gif] www.adomain.com

[Code]....

If the parameter is a URL, the FormatEContact method will return:

[Code]....

So, after spending some quality time with Bing and Google, I've learned that the above js code is treated as just text and not evaluated. Therefore, the most often recommended solution is to eval() it. Unfortunately, I can't figure out exactly how, when or where to call eval().

Web Forms :: Browser Output Doesn't Look Like Web Developer Output Using Nested Master Pages And Css Stylesheets

Apr 18, 2010

First off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.

However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.

If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.

Javascript - Removing The "d" Object From Web Service Json Output?

May 11, 2010

I have some javascript code that processes json output from asp.net web services built with framework 2.0. Now I need to support data returned from framework 3.5 web services. My javascript code assumes a list of objects as return value, which works fine in 2.0. However In framework 3.5, the list is wrapped in a "d" object. Is there any way I can remove the "d" wrapper and just return the list?

How To Run A Javascript Function Before Postback Of Button

May 27, 2010

I'm using Javascript to create a DIV element and open up a new page by using onclientclick. This works great. Now, I need to write to it from the server side and this element must be created before it is posted back.

How do I get the javascript to execute before the postback?

Currently, I have to press the button twice because the element doesn't exist to write too on the first click.

To be clear, I need this to execute before the "OnClick" of the button.

Update: It looks like the Javascript function is called before the postback but the element is not updated until I run the second postback.

Update: Unfortunately it is a bit more complicated then this.

I'm creating a div tag in javascript to open a new window. Inside the div tag, I'm using a databinding syntax <%=Preview%> so that I can get access to this element on the server side. From the server side, I'm injecting the code.

I'm thinking this may be a chicken-egg problem but not sure.

UPDATE!

It is not the Javascript not running first. It is the databinding mechanism which is reading the blank variable before I'm able to set it.
