Javascript - Properly Fetch SQL Data From Client After Pageload?
Jan 3, 2011
I have a site (ASP.NET), which will display some search results. What I would like to do is load the page with search results, then have the client query my SQL database to check and see if any of the search results have been "Favorited" by the user. I know a little bit about JSON, SOAP, and HTTP Requests, but the only way that I know how to do this right now would be to create a page in my project that I could request from each returned result, and have that page validate the user from the cookie, query sql for the answer, and finally return a true or false to the client on whether to hide or show the "Favorite" icon.
A simple example of this (from everything I can tell) would be the Queue(_) count on Hulu. When I load the Hulu site, it has "Queue", then about 1 second later, it retrieves the actual count, and I get "Queue(1)"
Note: I've been googling and reading, but just haven't found the right resources yet.
Suppose i have created one .js file name as: MyNoteBook.js. In this .js file i have written function as name count().
Now I am creating MyNoteBook.aspx page in asp.net. On the event of pageload of .aspx file, i want to call that count() function of that .js file. Is it is possible, If yes then tell me.
If no, then how i can write count function in .aspx page?
I have a masterPage on that i am using AjaxModalPopup for login purpose. My requirement is when i login via Master page then it should show the Logged-in User details on the current Content Page that is using same master page.
Here i am using following code to get it back to the same content page after succesful login but it does not show the user details on the same content page rather when i go to next page then it appears.
I have a usercontrol that wprks fine as along as one instance is on a pageut as soon as i have two instances of it nothing works. I figured out that it could be the pageload function that adds handler for keydown and other that is the cause. As each instance is reproducing the same javascript in the viewsource. So can you tell me how can i make the usercontrol that it can have multiple nstances that have their own javascript pageload
I have Postcode in my large database, which contains values like SL5 9JH, LU1 3TQ etc. Now when I am pasting above postcode to maps.google.com it's pointing to a perfect location.. My requirement is like I want to pass post codes to maps.google.com and it should return a related latitude and longitude of that pointed location, that I want to store in my database. So, most probably there should be some javascript for that If anybody have another idea regarding that please provide it
I have to show some functionality similar to accordion that is of jquery so i made a custom function of jquery to produce the effect. there is a grid view in which there are two div's here is the code.
The second div has style property display none. by default all the div are closed. than i have made a js function that uses the toggle function to perform the action code.
function testToggle(testDiv) { debugger var sntHdnValue = $('#hdnSetFlag').val(); if (sntHdnValue == 1) { $(testDiv).find('div:first').show().attr('isOpen', 'true'); } else { $(testDiv) .parents('table:first') .find('div[isOpen=true]').removeAttr('isOpen').toggle('slow'); $(testDiv).find('div:first').show().attr('isOpen', 'true'); } sntHdnValue++; $('#hdnSetFlag').val(sntHdnValue); }
here i have made use of the hidden field that let's me know that it is the initial state every thing is closed i am adding a custom attr isopen for my identification
1)the current situation is this At load everty thing should be closed. 2)than at a time only single div should be open. this is working fine. The problem is if i click on the same div that i clicked to open than it has two custom attr isopen now it breaks the second case. how to solve it.
I have more than one user control and those user controls have extenders of the ajaxcontroltoolkit. The problem is that each one has a javascript that writes "function PageLoad"... and as I have more than one user control in the same aspx, more than one of those javascript functions is written in the output. Is there anyway to combine all of them in just one function? (bear in mind that the javascript code is written within the user control and the user control doesn't know anything about what other control are in the container aspx). If I have more than one function PageLoad they will not work then, right?
I have an aspx application with 2 aspx pages. Second aspx page will get opened on click of a button in first aspx page using JavaScript. The problem is, when the second aspx page is getting opened, its Page_load event is not firing. Only when I refresh the second page, page_load event of second aspx page is fired. what might be the problem and what is to be done to fire the page_load event.
The production setup is different though. The application exists as its own web site in production, so I don't need to include the reference to the virtual directory. The problem with this is that I need to modify every file that contains a javascript reference so it looks like the following:
I am using Fabric.Js ... its returning XML file .. i need to save this file. after googling i found that we can save XML files using Activex Control but it will not work other than IE. So i am trying to pass that XML file to server side.. I tried to assign xml data to var and use alert for display its displying all xml File data.. but unable save that file. is it possible to save that xml file to disk or pass that to sever side so that i can save .
I am looking for a method to format gridview bound data using javascript.
I know you can have custom formating in Eval using:
[Code]....
But I am looking for a way to perform this task on client side, rather than doing it on the server.
For example if I want to format a date field being bound in a custom way, something like emails date received in gmail. (Only show time if it is today's date [15:30] and only show day and month if it is this year date [14 Jan] and show the full date if it is not this year [10/10/2009].
So, how I use javascript to format a field (ie. custom date format or setting a control visibility)?
The thing is that, the first if statement works fine and the 'javascript' shows an alert and close the window, but in the second if statement the javascript shows the message but doesn't close the window.
I have a simple question - I use update panel with custom server control inside. I call __doPostBack from javascript and RaisePostBackEvent on the server fires (I implement IPostBackEventHandler). This is client to server call. Could I return data back to the client (after this partial postback)? What is the best way to achieve this?
I have a form that contains multiple and different input controls .. and I have two types of validation:
This type insures that the user input doesn't violate my application's constraints (required, max length, regExp).. and this is done on the client side using the ASP.NET Validation Controls .. and it's enforced by a server side validation.
This type works on a deeper level, like the database. it check if the entry is duplicate and any other check that can't be done on the UI level.
I use the ValidationSummary control to display the first type's errors, and a label for the second's type errors. I tried to test it with the JavaScript disabled and it worked fine, then I turned the JS back on and *Here comes the problem: *
I first try to raise an error on the db layer (by entering a name that already exists) and the error is displayed on the label and everything is good .. now I try to remove the name from the textbox and press the submit so I could raise a required field validator error the expected output is "This field is required" only but what I see is "the name already exists" and "This field is required".
I think it's because when the ASP.NET RequiredValidator works, it doesn't make a postback, so the database layer will never be validated and won't even get the label cleared!
I want to enhance a composite control's client side, my approach is to recreate all method on JavaScript, so here I have some troubles:Can I call onclick event on client side otherwise on server side?the statement table.onclick=SelectRow(event) fires a bug!Code:
function Control_Init() { if( !(document.getElementById) ) { return; } for( var i = 0; i < Controls.length; i++ ) {
I am using membership management and role management. As login controls transfer data in plain text, I am encrypting userid/password in javascript and decrypting in serverside code.
Client side javascript:
[Code]....
If i am commenting these last two lines in javascript code.
I have a user control which contains a CustomValidator which is used according to whether a RadioButton is checked or not (there are several RadioButtons, I'm only showing the relevant one)
There is some client + server side validation code (the server side code does exactly the same thing and is skipped for brevity)
<script type="text/javascript"> function ValidateDateFields_Client(source, args) [code]...
There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.
[code]... Do i need to add something in to scope it? What's the best way to achieve this? If I disable the loading of the second control everything works fine.
I have a repeater that has a LinkButton in the Item Template. The LinkButton displays a UserControl that consists of a FormView. The UserControl has an HTML Element that when clicked hides the UserControl by simply change the display of the control from 'block' to 'none'. If the 'Close' span is clicked, the UserControl is successfully hidden, but afterward, the 'Edit' linkbuttons no longer postback.
I have a datagrid in aspx page.Inside of datagrid i am using around 15 controls such as Button, dropdownlist and text box
controls.Once the datagrid binds then the events in the aspx page not firing.Issue occured when the number of rows greater than 500.The number of rows less then its works fine.
