Javascript - Save .NET IFRAME From A Custom Entity's OnSave Event?
Apr 10, 2010
I have a custom ASP.NET solution deployed to the ISV directory of an MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 application. We have created a custom entity, whose data entry requires more dynamism than is possible through the form builder within CRM. To accomplish this, we have created an ASP.NET form surfaced through an IFRAME on the entity's main form.Here is how the saving functionality is currently laid out:
There is an ASP.NET button control on the page that saves the entity when clicked. This button is hidden by CSS.The button click event is triggered from the CRM OnSave javascript event.The event fires and the entity is saved.Here are the issues: When the app pool is recycled, the first save (or few) may: not save be delayed (ie. the interface doesn't show an update, until the page has been refreshed after a few sec)Save and Close/New may not save For issue 1.1 and 2, what seems to be happening is that while the save event is fired for the custom ASP.NET page, the browser has moved on/refreshed the page, invalidating the request to the server. This results in the save not actually completing.
Right now, this is mitigated with a kludge javascript delay loop for a few seconds after calling the button save event, inside the entity OnSave event.Is there any way to have the OnSave event wait for a callback from the IFRAME?
I have a stupid problem with the Entity Framework. I get the following Exception:
[Code]....
I have an entity with a 4 fields representing the primary key. I copy it via serialization (works fine). I set the old entity to not valid (Datefield set to a date in the past, this field is part of the PK) and set the copied entity to DateTime.Now.Date. When I call context.AddObject I get the Exception above. I tried copying the entity via reflection but the entity has 3-4 references. And when copied, I get another Exception before even Adding the entity to the context. I also tried setting newObj.EntityKey = null and reset all the fields neccessary for the PK. I just want a whole copy of an entity with a different primary key (and some other fields changed too) and Create it in the database.
one button i use to save form entity.and other is to navigate to next pagwhen i click on save button i use jquery to save form entity in database. and form remains as it is
This is a classic sort of question, I suppose, but it seems that most people are interested in having the textbox cause a postback. I'm not. I just want the event to fire when a postback occurs.
I have created a webpart with a custom editorpart. The editorpart renders with a textbox and a button. Clicking the button causes a dialog to open. When the dialog is closed, it sets the value of the textbox via javascript and then does __doPostBack using the ClientID of the editorpart.
The postback happens, but the TextChanged event never fires, and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the way __doPostBack is invoked, or if it's because of the way I'm setting up the event handler, or something else. Here's what I think is the relevant portion of the code from the editorpart:
protected override void CreateChildControls() { _txtListUrl = new TextBox();
I have an ASP.NET MVC POST action for saving an entity on submit of a form. It works fine for insert but doesn't work for update, the database doesn't get called, so it's clearly not tracking the changes, as it's "detached". I'm using Entity Framework w/.NET 4:
//POST: /Developers/Save/ [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Save(Developer developer) { developer.UpdateDate = DateTime.Now; if (developer.DeveloperID == 0) {//inserting new developer. DataContext.DeveloperData.Insert(developer); } //save changes - TODO: doesn't update... DataContext.SaveChanges(); //redirect to developer list. return RedirectToAction("Index"); }
I'm trying to create a simple iFrame custom tab on my fan page. I'm using the Facebook C# SDK and I need to read the signed_request value that Facebook passes to my iFrame page.
I can print the signed_request encoded value so I know its showing up, but when I try to decode it with the Facebook C# SDK I'm getting an error. I'm using .NET 4.0 and dynamics.
Here's my code:
signedRequestString contains the Request value with the signed_param passed from Facebook. var result = FacebookSignedRequest.Parse(FacebookContext.Current.AppSecret, signedRequestString); dynamic signedRequestJson = result.Data; dynamic page = signedRequestJson.page;
And the error I receive:
Microsoft.CSharp.RuntimeBinder.RuntimeBinderException: Cannot perform runtime binding on a null reference at CallSite.Target(Closure , CallSite , Object ) at System.Dynamic.UpdateDelegates.UpdateAndExecute1[T0,TRet](CallSite site, T0 arg0) at DecodeSignedRequest(String signedRequestString)
I have a web form in asp.net. I load the data on the page using EF4 and a foreach. Now it is time to save that data. What is the best way to do that using a postback?
I have a one-to-one relationship on two tables with are represented by 2 classes in my EDM. I am trying to save a new record and am confused how to save to the second entity. I have tried the following.
Dim myObject as new MyObject myObject.prop1 = 5 myObject.prop2 = "Test" myObject.myOtherObject.prop1 = 3 myObject.myOtherObject.prop2 = "Hello"
But I get an error when I hit myObject.myOtherObject.prop1 = 3 because myOtherObject hasn't been initialized. How do I initialize an child object under myObject?
I am storing html of error pages of my site in sql table, i want to display them in a window, on the admin side, but not able to load the saved html in iframe, i am using asp.net mvc2.
its needed to save the pages, and display later to admin.
I have created an AJAX style file download (using an iframe) and all works well... however, I need to detect when the iframe has received a response... see below:
Javascript:
function download() { var ifrm = $('#iframedownload')[0]; ifrm.src = '/downloadfile.aspx?fileid=whatever'; ifrm.onreadystatechange = function () { // Checking if (this.readyState == 'complete') alert("I would really like this piece to work!"); }; }
I'm creating a custom ASP.Net GridView and I want to be able to alter the __EVENTARGUMENT value but I can't figure out how to capture the returned value on the server side.
I'm creating the ability to have a collapsible representation, so the first level is the standard GridView and I will insert additional rows via JavaScript if they expand the first level row.
My problem is how to create a link on the selecond level rows that posts back with custom data.
This user control is placed on .aspx page, which I need to provide as an iframe.
I need the page to open in new window.
MakeOrderLink.Target = "_blank" works when the control is placed only in .aspx page but I can not figure out how to redirect when it is nested two levels down (link inside user control contained in iframe contained in another .aspx page).
I built a webcontrol showing a complex user interface with a lot of javascript. Basically my webcontrol is similar to : [URL]
Now that most the user interface is working properly, I'm stuck with the following issue: I want to add a button (html button tag) which has to trigger an event. I have been able to declare the event, the event args, the delegate,etc. The page using my control may assign a handler and that handler is called correctly when I explicitely call OnServerControlClick (The name I gave to the event). I cannot make the link between the button in the user interface and the event in the webcontrol source code. When the button is clicked, I get an error message saying a dangerous Request.Form value has been detected.
I am trying out some code which enables me in creating a page with extension .asp2
The tags included will also be custom, something like:
[code]....
I have done the necessary changes so that ASP.NET identifies the extension. I have also kept a mapping of custom tags and asp.net/html tags with myself. With this I am able to render the page on browser. But how can we do event handling(usually done by page postbacks and code) in such a scenario?
In an .aspx page with the vb.net codebehind i am using IFRAME , which would be created inside the repeater control. Since i want to resize the IFRAME based on the content within the page i have been using the resize function Obtained from here on the IFRAME onload as shown below.
However it is throwing the error as the method could not be found in the form. Is there any client side script variant for the onload event? May i know,What might be the reason for the error and its solution?
I have a website with a menu, when menu item is clicked I display the page for that menu in an iframe(iframe is set to display home page initially by default). sometimes it could take few seconds to display the page for the selected menu item (for example reports) and I would like to display a loading image while the page is loading. how to do this using javascript or jQuery
Im looking for a way to redirect to another page, when i click a link in the iframe. i dont want just the iframe to redirect, but the whole window.
is this possible?
preferably in javascript or in asp.net if possible
EDIT: When i try the answers i get redirected to the source of the iframe, not to the source of the site the iframe lies on... Ill show you the code
function redirect() { window.top.location.href = "./Nyheter.html"; }
As i dont want the code to be static, so that i can use it on many pages without changing the url, i want to do it this way, alt. get the url from db... but preferrably this way, Solution? Also, forgot to mention. The pages are not on the same domain, they are on different ones..
