I have a user control which contains a text box, which is added dynamically to another control containing a repeater control and then finally to the aspx. As my user control with the text box is added dynamically using code, I have learnt that using JQuery to apply a date mask won't because it is added to a placeholder and thus the id of the textbox control won't be found by the JQuery, which goes a long way to explain my problems.
Prior to trying out JQuery, I used AJAX third party control from codeplex, but I had to drop that control because of other issues.
Therefore, is there a way for me to apply a mask, such as "__/__/____" to a text box that does not reply on AJAX or JQuery?

I'm using Josh Bush's MaskedInput plugin for jQuery in an ASP.NET 3.5 Webform app. How to get rid from the literals in the code-behind file after form submit? E.g: a phone input with the mask $("#txtPhone").mask("(99)9999-9999");
In the code-behind:
string customerPhone = txtPhone.Text
Which returns me: (12)3456-7890
But this is what I want: 1234567890
In the plugins changelog page it says I can use mask() method with no arguments to archieve this. But how to do it from the code-behind?!
EDIT
I want to send to the server the unmasked value. How to do that?

I am using the AJAX Toolkit MaskedEditExtender to format some of my web form's textboxes. When I load the page and start to enter data into the textboxes, the masking doesn't show. I've included my page code below:
<asp:TextBox ID="GrantExpendituresAmount" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("GrantExpendituresAmount") %>'
Width="450px"></asp:TextBox>
<ajax:MaskedEditExtender ID="GrantExpendituresAmount_MaskedEditExtender"
runat="server" CultureAMPMPlaceholder="" CultureCurrencySymbolPlaceholder=""
CultureDateFormat="" CultureDatePlaceholder="" CultureDecimalPlaceholder=""
CultureThousandsPlaceholder="" CultureTimePlaceholder="" Enabled="True"
Mask="$999,999,999.00" TargetControlID="GrantExpendituresAmount">
</ajax:MaskedEditExtender>

I was wondering if someone knew the best way to switch from using the
myTextBox.TextMode = TextBoxMode.Password;
to
myTextBox.TextMode = TextBoxMode.SingleLine;
using client code and jQuery. I will have to do it on focus, along with deleting the whole text content of the textbox onFocus event.

i have a text box with textchanged event and autopostback=true and textchanged event which takes user to other page with textbox's chanegd value.i have applied a jquery to the textbox. when i start entering alphabets, a listofitems is show.eg:if i type the, I GET HTE HOTEL,THE MALL,THE BEACHs soon as i click on any thing(say THE HOTEL), asp.net takes me to the otherpage with only THE as text. and not THE HOTELthis is happening as the event is raised when i click on a choice which is as good as i am clicking outside of textbox. thus the asp.net working is fine.

I have an asp:TextBox with asp:RegularExpressionValidator to validate if it's a number. Obviously an onchange event will be attached to this textbox while rendering. Also I add a change event at $(document).ready to make some calculation when the value is changed.
<asp:TextBox id="myText" runat="server" />
<asp:regularexpressionvalidator id="myRev" ControlToValidate="myText" runat="server">*</asp:regularexpressionvalidator>
$(document).ready(function(){
$('[id$=myText]').bind('change',function(){
//do something........
and found that all of event.fromElement,event.toElement,event.srcElement are null which causes the exception.

Since I'm new to coding and I'm trying to understand why here is a little more detail on the question.If you have a text box and you are limiting the input to say 2 charactrs do you really need to validate the input further? What I have is a text box that has a max length of 2. Is there a security reason to add a validator to the textbox. I should add this is in Asp.net.

Not sure if this can be done. The requirement is to change the font for part of the text in a textbox when a semi-colon (keyCode 186) is typed. This is an ASP.NET 3.5 app. Our corporate environment only uses IE so there are no cross-browser compatability issues. I have written this much so far in jQuery:
[Code]....
This is pretty close. As soon as the first semi-colon is typed, the font of the entire textbox changes to italics. As soon as the second semi-colon is typed, the font changes back. The requirement is that the font be normal until the first semi-colon is typed and then everything between the first and second semi-colon must be in italics. After the second semi-colon, the remaining characters must revert back to normal. This is an example of the text correctly formatted: This is the start; of the string and this is; the end of the string.
Is it possible to change the font style of only the middle part of the text string? If so, it probably involves creating a range that starts with is the whatever character position of the first semi-colon + 1 and ending at the second semi-colon, right? I just can't seem to wrap my head around this one.

to directly get all elements in a form who contains a non html attribute ?
<input .... customAttribute="validateMe">
So I could find all input elements that will require validation.And use this in a loop to add validation to the input's found :
$('input').attr("customAttribute").val() == "validateMe"
I could also write every validation for each object separately, I have only a few elements who uses a required validation but it would be nice that I could do this in one shot instead of repeating the $("input").rules("add .....

I have a matadataclass which I use to show my table individually. No I have the problem that I want to have a kind of input format for my date field like: yyyy/MM/dd and not the german format I'm using on my SQL Server. I already learned from the video that I have to change the display format to show it on my main page. I want to see the two " / " as akind of mask. Sorry for my bad english.
[DisplayFormat(DataFormatString="{0:yyyy-MM-dd}")]
[DisplayName("Delivery Date:")]
public object deliveryDate { get; set; }
Maybe I need a kind of "input validation"? I need the same for my IP field. I have a IP field to add the IP address of a system into my inventory database there I want to have the 3 dots xxx. xxx . xxx . xxx and the range per tree letters from 0-255.
[ColumnOrder(190)]
[DisplayName("Production IP Address:")]
public object IP1 { get; set; }

I've read posts here and on Google telling me I need to set the style by hand onfocus() and onblur(). However, everything I try isn't working!
Here is my jQuery
$(document).ready(function(){
if (jQuery.browser.msie === true) {
$("input.date-picker").each(function(i)
{
var $foo= $(this);
$foo.bind('onfocus onblur', function() {
$(this).toggleClass('smalltxt-active');
});
});
}//end if
});
The a corresponding box
<input name="ctl00$SelectionContent$Selections1$txtDestinationDate" type="text"
id="ctl00_SelectionContent_Selections1_txtDestinationDate" class="date-picker"
style="width:80px;" />
I have already confirmed that my code is detecting MSIE. That I am getting a count of 2 input.date-picker objects.

Code Example:
$(document).ready(function() {
txtchangefunction();
});
function txtchangefunction(
$(".textCssClass").change(function () {
....});
or $(".textCssClass").bind('change', function())
both work for Chrome etc. but not IE8. no console error comes out.

This is probably embarrassingly easy, but I've having problems getting this to work.
On ResidentAddress.aspx, I have 2 user controls (AppName.ascx and NavButtons.ascx). When a textbox in AppName.ascx has focus, I want to update a hidden input field on NavButtons.ascx with the value of "TRUE". In the codebehind page for NavButtons, I want to see what the value of this hidden input filed is.
This is what I have so far:
NavButtons.ascx
<input type="hidden" id="IpChangeFlag" name="ChangeFlag" runat="server" value="FALSE" />
AppName.ascx
<asp:TextBox ID="txtFirstName" runat="server" onFocus="document.getElementsByName('ChangeFlag').value='TRUE';">
NavButtons.ascx.vb
If IpChangeMade.Value.Trim.ToUpper = "TRUE" Then
MyValue = true
End If
I am unable to change the value of ipChangeFlad. It always has the value of FALSE.
