it's possible to load external CrystalReports (2008) .rpt files?
I now embed them so they're compiled with my core.
It would be nice if i can make changes to a reports layout without having to recompile anything. Is that possible?
I'm getting the "Load Report Failed" Error.
I have a web application designed using VS2008 & Crystal Reports for VS2008 (Ver. 10.5.3700). I'm using Framework 2.0 for deployment.
My development system is WinXp and my deployment system is Win2003 Server.
Here is what i have done -
1) Added a Crystal Report to my project "rptReport.rpt"
2) Added a Crystal Report Source (crSource) to my .aspx page.
3) Added Crystal Report Viewer to my page, with crSource as its Report Source.
This works fine when i run it on my development machine. But Gives a "Load Report Failed" error on my deployment machine.
This is what i have already tried doing on deployment server:
1) Giving IIS_WPG full control to temp folder.
2) Publishing with "Allow this precompiled site to be updatable." checked/unchecked.
I am using visual studio 2008, I have created a rdlc report in which i have an image in the header part. i want to set the height and width of that image dynamically as they vary frequently, How to set the image height and width dynamically or its better how to set them to auto.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a site that ws developed using VS 2005 and the server where the site is running has Crystal Reports for .net 2.0 (ver 10.2.36)I will be making changes. I just ported the website to my local computer, and build the site using VS 2008, that comes with Crystal R. Basic.I haven't tested all the functionality of the site, so I'm not sure since all the pages that use C. Reports work ok.My main concern is about publishing the site I compiled to the server. Will things work, if I have Crystal R. Basic and the server has Crystal R. for .net 2.0.

However, after I deployed the application to web server with microsoft server 2003 64bits server. The report cannot open and I get this error The type initialize or 'crystaldecisions.crystalreports.engine.reportdocument' threw an exception. The component works fine in a windows app, but when I tried to use it in an asp.net website, it fails as the site could not find the data files. And it gives me the following error:

When we include Javascript files in our aspx files. either we write all the Javascript code in the Head section of aspx or we link to an external Javascript file.
So when the clinet makes a call to that page. Does that mean that all the Javascript will be loaded on the client side?
If that is the case then does not that mean that it will slow down the loading of page as all the Javascript has to be loaded on the client machine?

View 3 RepliesI am writing a ASP.NET 4 web application running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and attempting to view a Crystal Reports 2008 report in the web viewer. After battling through issues with: Enabling 32-bit apps on the app pool Switching the pipeline mode of the crystalreportviewers12 folder to Classic, and Ensuring that the appropriate users have NTFS access to the windows emp folder I've finally gotten the viewer to load in the web page. However, despite the fact that the report I'm testing is tre simple, with no parameters, absolutely nothing is being displayed. This is also despite the fact that my SQL profiler shows that the correct query is being run on the database to return the data that should be showing in the report.
Thus, I am forced to ask the questions: Does Crystal Reports 2008 work on ASP.NET 4, and if so, Is there something extra I need to do to get it to work?

I have a weird problem that I am struggling with. We have a legacy project (VS 2003), and all I have to do is change a Crystal Reports label, when I change it and save it creates an additional code behind file. So after saving I have the file rptInvoice.rpt with two dependant files rptInvoice.vb and rptInvoice1.vb. I have no idea why it is creating an additional file but it is causing a compiler error.

The data for the report will be on an MSSQL server either 2005 or 2010. My question is what is the best way to access that data. I assume there are different methods for doing this. My experience is pretty much confined to ADO net, but I am open to anything that may be better

We currently have two web servers (Windows Server 2008 Standard, IIS7) setup to host an ASP.Net website and are using the basic features of our hardware firewall to provide network load balancing (NLB) between the two servers. This means we have had to change the ASP.Net session state mode to SQL Server in order to make the data stored in session accessible no matter which server responds to the request. The main issue now is that crystal reports (basic edition packaged with VS2008) do not seem to support serialization which is needed in order to store/transfer the report to session state on SQL Server.
From what I have read so far in order to get crystal reports working in a web farm environment it seems the only option is to upgrade to Crystal Reports Server and load the reports from a third server. Another option may be to use SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) as we already have this so no extra cost involved, however I'm not sure if SSRS would resolve the issue with storing reports in session?
