The component works fine in a windows app, but when I tried to use it in an asp.net website, it fails as the site could not find the data files. And it gives me the following error:
C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv4.0.30319Temporary ASP.NET Filescmictranslatorsite20a8eddd864b2575assemblydl35bd4a35e8c6f79b6_98eccb01datafile.txt
When we include Javascript files in our aspx files. either we write all the Javascript code in the Head section of aspx or we link to an external Javascript file.
So when the clinet makes a call to that page. Does that mean that all the Javascript will be loaded on the client side?
If that is the case then does not that mean that it will slow down the loading of page as all the Javascript has to be loaded on the client machine?
I have a problem regarding to asp.net lifecylce hierarchy.
Basically, I have one user control which has a GridView in it. And this GridView is dynamically generated based on a public property on the control (named Parameter in the simplified code below).
Everything is fine when I insert this control in an aspx page, set its Parameter property and call DataBind(Parameter) on it. GridView is generated and populated on the UI.
Problem occurs when I post-back the page. I have to regenerate the GridView structure so that the data in the ViewState of the control can be used to populate the GridView. So that I can achieve its content. But as long as the GridView structure is generated dynamically and it is based on the Parameter property set on it, this is not possible. Because the OnInit of the user control is called before the OnInit of the page and that is why the Parameter property is set after the generation of the GridView structure. As a result I get an empty Gridview in the end.
Here is the code in a simplified way.
Can you give me some recommendation how to overcome this?
Can I explicitly force asp.NET to re-load the ViewState of a gridview?
I am working on a project which creates controls dynamically for a form in the page_load event, loads in their current values from the database and saves their values (using FindControl) when the user clicks the continue button. When I added a control statically in the .aspx page and followed their same procedure of loading the value in the page load and saving it on the button press I found that the value would not save correctly. It seems that it wouldn't save because the click event fires after the page_load, so the page_load of the post back reverted the value and the user entered value was not saved.
The strange thing is that by changing the control to be dynamically created just as all the other controls on the page and keeping the loading and saving the same it now works. Even though the page load still creates the control with the old database value. It seems like a very fundamental asp .net feature here but i'm just unclear as to what is going on. I suspect it is to do with the timing of creation and maybe when the view state kicks in.
I have an external JavaScript in an asp.net 3.5 project. While writing different functions, sometimes the JavaScript is loaded into FF and sometimes it is not (based on FireBug) and the JavaScript does not run. Even if there is an error in the JS it should still load or be visible to the browser, right?
What is the logic behind when it is loaded and when it doesn't load (or is accessible to the browser?)
Master Page loads JS from a script directory in project:
I have a problem with the connection of external files - northwind.MDF Connection to SQL Server is fine. But to connect to external files wrong. Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Intance Specified)
I've a page which consolidates different sections by different .aspx pages. Those pages will be loaded into corresponding div(s) dynamically by using jQuery.load(). They all are rendered properly, however, when clicking on any asp:button in any section page, the entire main page will be replaced by the section page even the asp:button is just popping up a message box.
var mySession = "<%= Session["MyID"] %>"; alert ( mySession );
and when I place this code in my aspx page inside a script tag, it works fine. But it doesn't work in an external js file. I am not able to figure out the problem.
Is there anything wrong in my code, or is it like this by default?
Our conn strs reside in an external file <connectionStrings onfigSource="ConfigurationConnectionStrings.config" />Is there a way to encrypt this external file either using aspnet_regiis or System.Configuration?
I am developing audio related project for that i have stored movie names with mp3 file paths in database I am displaying movie names in grid view after clicking on movie name related mp3 file paths will be display in details view i am unable to play that files in details view how to do this ? Here i am storing original mp3 files in one folder in solution explorer and paths in database
By external config files, I mean .config files other than web.config. I've seen all the examples on how to edit web.config at runtime, but I want to edit a config file referenced by a configSource for appSettings. I want to modify only the external file and I will handle the app recycle.
I would like to use a built-in class to deal with the edits, but if the only option is a manual File open/parse, etc, then sobeit.
The general behind all this being a Settings page that is viewed at app startup, user sets their particulars and then saves the changes, then the real app starts up. quick and easy install app/configure page, so I'd like to leverage .config if at all possible.
FOLLOWUP - Quick Snippet to use XmlDocument to change an appSetting key value:
I'm using visual studio 2010 professional. I have my javascript files in a subdirectory called javascripts where I am holding all those files respectively. I am constantly having to remove (from the head section) the external javascript link. Then rename the javascript file in the javascript's folder, then re-add the external file back to the head section again. The reason of having to do this is somethimes when I am editing the js file, and then go to test it, the aspx page doesnt seem to see the code anymore. I've tried different browsers, closing the window and reopening, deleting temp int files, but all to no success. Has anyone else had this happen, is there a better workaround??if i open the js file in the browser, the functions are showing properly.
My Client wants a native iPhone App that displays their mobile site optimized for iPhone developed using asp.net and ComponentOnes Studio for iPhone. i was planning to use a PhoneGap app which calls an external URL using JavaScript and do it after showing the splash screen. but according to phoneGap FAQ its most likely to apple to reject an app that loads external URL ? just need somebody to clear me on the whole process. isnt it possible to create an app like that ? i've seen various iPhone apps that do this (eg: cydia).
if it is possible to read data from a CD and load multiple files from it without actually having to browse for each one through an ASP page. I searched the web and all I can come with is to set however many number of file upload controls onto a page and upload each file individually whereas I am looking to search a directory and upload all files with a certain extension with only one file upload control.
I have an application which has rows of data in a relation database the table needs a status which will always be either Not Submitted, Awaiting Approval, Approved, Rejected Now since these will never change I was trying to decide the best way to implement them I can either think of a Status enum with the values and an int assigned where the int is placed into the status column on the table row.
Or a status table that linked to the table and the user select one of these as the current status.
I can't decide which is the better option as I currently have a enum in place with these values for the approval pages to populate the dropdown etc and setup the sql (as it currently using to Approved and submitted for approval but this is dirty for various reasons and needs changed).
Wondering what your thought on this were and whether I should go for one or the other.
If it makes any difference I am using Entity framework.
I need to defining the Series parameters for an MS Chart.
Using the sample data below is it possible to set the X & Y value types for a graph with all days for the month on the X axis and the total number of visits for each day on the Y. Are MS Charts capable of auto generating the X axis based on the extents of the data dates as well a counting the daily instances?
