I have a menu navigation bar with drop down menu in asp.net project.i have done this with jquery.To get into this page i have 5 hyperlinks in previous page. when i click on one of the hyperlink and enter the navigation bar page,i need to make dropdown visible to false. i dont have any idea related to this.

The Nav menu works great, however when the elements expand, the new content forces the rest of the content on the page to move down and it messes up the entire formatting of the site. Most websites usually just have the Nav bar elements expand OVER the rest of the page without modifying locations...

I have five menu items that i have created as a user control and placed on the master page. Now i want one of the menu items to be visible only for particular user role and not visible for others. Here is what I did. Its not working though.

I'm using asp.net and css to style a master page with navigation at the top. I was hoping to add the login status control in as a menu item but it is not allowed. Can someone point me in the right direction? When I post my code on this forum do I have to include tags?

this is what it looks like in the database (the key thing to notice here is URL field where i'm storing all Area/Controller/Action/Param values.
Now, on the front end I would like to built <UL><LI> menu from the db.

If I have a grid, and it is binded to some data, but the visible=false for the grid, will it consume any resources for initializations or for retrieving data to perform the bindings?
How about if the grid is inside a div, and the div visible=false
If a control (say a label or textbox) is set to visible = false then
1. Is the value specific for each user(like session) or for whole application?
2. If it is user specific, then how is the value kept across multiple Http requests? is it by session management(cookie or URL rewritting) or viewstate?
3. If it's by viewstate, does that means users still have chances to modify the 'invisible' control's value?
4. If it's by session management, I can't depends on the 'invisible' control's value unless I am 100% sure cookie or URL rewritting is working, right?

When I try the same code with visble=true as the default on the "FromDate" ASP.NET control, it works (although that is not the behavior I need)
when using asp.net´s visible=false e.g. for a htmlgenericcontrol asp.net renders a newline for a control that is set visible=false.
How to prevent this behavior?

So one <li> per line. If I set one or all li´s to visible=false by code I get newlines instead of "Nothing"

i am filling drop downlist from Sql datasource and textbox1.text=Dropdownlist1.SelectedItem.Value.ToString()
all working fine but if i set dropdownlist1.visible = false than textbox1.text = empty string I need to hide the dropdownlist1 and in the same time i need the selecteditem of dropdownlist to be in the Textbox1.text

So when i select "Yes" from the first drop down, the "hiddenDetail" label becomes visible and when i select "No" from q1 the "hiddenDetail" label becomes invisible.The problem is that because i am using AutoPostBack when you select "No" the "hiddenDetail" loses its children (i.e. the label inside it) which is obvious why but i am wondering, is there anyway i can make the "hiddenDetail" invisible (sort of like display:none in style) in VB without losing its children. Or is my only option to work with this in

View 10 RepliesI have an update panel which has 2 set of controls each in their own separate panels. We can select either panel by a checkbox list and they become visible. Now I am trying to set a value by javascript in the panel that becomes visible on my checkbox click but the problem is that I cant access the controls through javascript as they are not rendered on page as visibility is false.
I cant find the controls inside the page source even though they are visible on page so javascript cannot access them. Is there any way other than doing a postback and setting them visible to access them via javascript?
