i have some files with extension aspx.cs. i tried opening them with visual studio c# 2008. but all that opens is the code page, and not any design page.
what should i do? i have to work on that project. how to open those files, in which program/software?
I noticed this a week ago but on my Win7 Ultimate x64 computer VS 2008 will completely lock up whenever I open an aspx page in form view. It has no problems opening the code behind and web config file but it will not respond when I try to open the aspx page file. What's up with that?

View 2 Repliesi have a fileupload control which i use to upload file to the server. after the upload is successful i enable a hyperlink with the name of the uploaded file.
i want the user to be able to view this file in the browser after the file has been uploaded.
i did try assigning the navigateurl for the hyperlink = HttpContext.Current.Request.MapPath(".") + "\folder1\" + fileName;
which dint work. all uploaded files are being stored in a folder inside my solution directory on the server.

what i want to do is that when i press a button i open a microsoft office word located on the c drive then i add some text to it using c# code
then i want to open the file (that i edited and located in memory) in mircosoft office word to see the text that i have added
everything works fine but when i press the button i get a prompt that says do you want to open the file or save it .
questions:
so how can i directly open the file (located in memory) in microsoft office word without this prompt
also if i choose open from the prompt the file opens in the read only mode and the title of the file in the microsoft word become the name of the aspx page which is Default.aspx

When i try to open a csv file from my asp.net 3.5 app by clicking on the link provided, a file download dialog box appears.When i click on the open button from there , i get this eror

When I update a js file in my asp.net project, I refresh the browser and the change shows up as expected. If I change a css file or an .aspx file, the change does not show in the browser. Not when I clear the browser's cache, not when I restart IIS (iisrestart). What could this possibly be?

I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.
What is the best method for using ASP yet not using the .aspx extension? I want my site urls to be like SomeSiteinASP.com/whatever instead of SomeSiteinASP.com/whatever.aspx so that it is more "memory friendly" to my users, not to mention Google likes those urls better. :)

this is my first post and you can consider as someone with little knowlage in web development , after stuggling i figured out how to install or activate iis 7 on my vista home primeum , with asp.net 3.5 , when i type http://localhost i see the welocme screen of iis 7 , i did this steps inorder to see how a comy for my website look like after i recieved it from the developer by email. i put a copy in a foler in the c://inetpub/wwwroot
in adminstrative tool i opend iis7, under site i right clicked on (default web site) and i clicked (add to virtual directory )where i definded allias and the path for my website folder ( where i stored it in D drive), then i open firefox browser and typed[URL] , nothing showed up in the brower and there was error message, i tried to choose add application instead of add to vitual directoy and defined the allian and path again, guess what i could see my website .
now i recieved the final copy of my website from the developer and i'm so eager to see it after making the impovement , i can not open it , i repeat the same steps as above , i could not open it and i do not know what is wrong or what i missed ,

I have a Link in my Gridview and when i click it i want it to open in a page with certain "design".
I want when i click the link to take its ID and pass it over the handler.

I have a problem within a project in Visual Web Developer. The program will not allow me to open the aspx.vb file associated with an aspx file when I choose the "View Code" option. The aspx.vb file exists; however the program is prevented from loading it and seeing it in Solutions Explorer.
The problem may be related to how the entire project is loaded -- loading it as a project vs. as a website. When I load it as a project, I have compilation errors that do not exist otherwise, but can see the aspx.vb files. When it is loaded as a website, I can't open the aspx.vb files as described above.
I'm currently dealing with my final year project and of course, later I might need to present this whole things to my lecturer.
So, I would like to ask you guys about how to open my website without Visual Studio and make it LAN (can be accessed by two or more computer through LAN).
When user clicks on linkButton it needs to open new window to display some data. I try this:
