Open Excel Application On Click Of A Button Without Having Ms-excel Installed In Server
Apr 9, 2010
In my project I have to open excel application on click of a button without having ms-excel installed in server and the same case applies to word also. Please suggest me a solutions asap
I have to write data from excel to data table on my server and ms office is not installed on the server. I am able to save the excel file but I don't how I can write it to data table from excel when ms office is not installed.
I have a web based form which is used to enter info into an Access DB. When a user clicks on the submit button in the form the information entered in the form goes into the DB. I have made the connection between aspx form and Access DB through an asp page using ADO.net.I wanted to add another feature into the form where when the user clicks the submit button a preformattedxcel sheet pops up with all the info filled onto it automatically (from the form). The user just need to save the file later on.
I recive this error when I click on button for import of excel files in a directory that lies on another server than the web app.
If I make a regular hyperlink with a UNC path it all goes well, but something makes an error on button update.

We are deveopingawebiste in asp.net. There are tempelates of each aspx page made in the form of excel sheet. Upon completion of the online calculation, the user is to be allowed to export the results to excel and save them. There would be obviously no formulae in such sheet
I do not want to install Excel on theserver and instead want to utilize the Excel installed on the user's computer for this purpose as every user's computer is expected to have Excel installed. Is this possible to do? How to do this?
I am not an expert in this. let me know if you would need any more information or clarification.
We moved to a new SQL server and I started getting an error on one of my sps only when I ran it from a website. If I manually ran the sp it worked fine. The error I got was this System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode. I can tell you that this sp does some things, then calls another sp which writes some sql to open an excel file and insert the data. Here is the pseudo
SET @sql = 'INSERT INTO dbo.TempParts (partKey, partKeyNumeric, partKeyAlpha, PartNumber, [Description], Comment, notAvailable ,BatchID)
I have created a CSV file on the server and want to send it to the user using the following code:
Dim strPhysicalPath As String strPhysicalPath = Server.MapPath( "CSV/" & PathVirtual) Dim objFileInfo As System.IO.FileInfo = New System.IO.FileInfo(strPhysicalPath) Response.Clear() Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" & objFileInfo.Name) Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", objFileInfo.Length.ToString()) Response.WriteFile(strPhysicalPath) Response.Flush() Response.End()
This seems to work fine except when the downloaded file is viewed in Excell the html code behind the page from which it came is also appended to the file. Does anyone have any idea why it does this?
EmployeeMaster is the Table name which contains more than 120 Columns in SQL I want to upload Excel contains EmployeeMaster Details in to SQL Server using Asp.net Application.

We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button.Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button.
this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End();
Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired

As I said what I need is to create a spreadsheet (it doesn't need to be csv),it should just be easy for the user to open in excel or whatever they are using to start working with it.
How can I export data from a Gridview to excel and once exported the data should be formatted in right to left (arabic) manner. How can I achieve this?
I've got an .rdlc report which I print from my .net app (C# Visual Studio 2005), where I use a RemoteReportPrinter object. I give it as parameters the server name, report name, report parameters, etc. Works fine. My question is, I would live to do an analagous export of that report to Excel. Set it up exactly the same, but have it export to Excel rather than print, probably using some other type of object than RemoteReportPrinter.
