I have my Web site set up to use SQL Server session state. This works fine. When a session starts, a row is created in ASPStateTempSessions.
When the user logs off the application, I am trying to call the stored procedure TempRemoveStateItem to clean up after myself (not sure if this is the right way to do it or not).
What I noticed is that the SQL table's SessionID column contains 32 characters whereas the .NET Session.SessionID value only contains 24 characters (which match the first 24 characters of the 32 characters stored in the SQL table). Because the values do not match, the stored procedure always fails.
Why would the SessionID value differ between .NET and SQL?
source of gridview details in page source.i am disabling and enabling in a server side and also i am using updatepanel too in the page.
View 4 RepliesI am having problems with rendering differences between a gridview control and a local report .rdlc rendering. The dataset shows different spacing between characters in the dataset visualizer than it does in the gridview. The sql reporting services report is more closely rendering what is shown in the visualizer. The dataset is filled From a DAL and then bound to the gridview and reporting service at runtime. I'm currently using VS2008 and programming in VB.
View 6 RepliesBasically I want to take the following:And make it match the styling of the rest of the application.I am creating a custom error page in my C# based project and I want it to be able to show the same information that is displayed in the ASP.NET default error page. From fiddling with reflector I can see that this is generated through HttpException.GetHtmlErrorMessage() but when I try to use this in my exception it returns null.
View 3 RepliesI am wondering if there is anyway to grab the html that is generated from an ASP page.I am trying to pull a table from the page,and I foolishly used a static html page so I would not have to be constantly querying the server where this page resides while I tested out my code.The javascript code I wrote to grab to unlabeled table from the page works.Then when I put it into practice with the real page and found that the ASP page does not generate a viewable page with a jquery .get request on the URL.
Is there any way to query the page for the table I need so that the ASP page returns a valid page on request?(I am also limited to using javascript and perl for this,the server where this will reside will not run php and I have no desire to learn ASP.NET to solve this by adding to the issue of proprietary software)
look at this sample link address: (weather.gov) [URL] if you view page source in browser, you can see that it shows data in XML format (usng xsl.?). I need to implement a simple web page like that. I think that web site uses XML XSL I'm going to implement a web application in asp.net which will use data stored in sql database (or xml database or web service) and show these information like other normal web sites but in xml format in nice UI (using xsl?).That Weather website is only a sample to show what i want to do (i will not use any data from that site, my application is different).My requirement is being able to view page source only in XML format.Now I'm clear that xsl is the solution for that, but considering to use this method in asp.net.(use xml/xsl in dynamic asp.net pages) My Question? It is important for me to make the web page output in xml format(visible in xml format in page view source) but looks user friendly for users. 1.how can i do it in asp.net ?
View 3 RepliesI have a FileUpload control in the Source page. On the Upload button handler, I read the file into memory (after doing some validations) and since it's always going to be a TXT file, I create a string that I need to pass to the Destination page. I thought of using Cross Page postback and set the PostBackUrl property of the upload button. But it appears that the breakpoint in the Upload button handler is never hit. It directly goes to the Page_Load in the Destination page. If I can't use Cross Page postback and don't want to use Session or the database, how do I pass this string from Source page to the Destination page?
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to use cross-page postbacks (or a similar method, perhaps Server.Transfer) to post form data (say, Data-set A) to a page, which then allows the user to add some additional information (say, Data-set B) and then postback to the original page the complete set of data (A+B) which then flows through the normal event execution process, similar to as if all data A+B was submitted on the original page to itself in a normal postback?
I don't want the second page to have any type knowledge of the original page, it just needs to supply two additional feeds and send the data on. This way different pages and controls could use this method for gaining additional data.
For example:
Page 1 could have a form with various text inputs, and two hidden fields Hidden1 + Hidden2 which are empty.
When the form on page 1 is submitted the user is presented with page 2, they complete that page and then all the form data from page 1 is posted back to page 1 but with the hidden fields 1 + 2 complete. Page 1 then has all the information it needs to complete.
I'm thinking that perhaps page 2 just needs to use PreviousPage and take its post data, add to it and then post it back to page 1, but as if it came from Page 1 and not Page 2. But I'm not sure if this is possible and ASP.NET might read this as tampered data?
I have 2 aspx page:
1>companyMaster(CM) 2>CompanyBranchMaster(CBM)
In CompanyMaster ihave a gridview (listing all companyBranches) with select,Update,Delete button on it.On clicking select of anyone row in gridview ,it should redirect to CompanyBranchMaster page and there is a funciton in it dbSelectGrid to show the details of that Branch in form.
CompanyBranchMaster page contains a form with all the required fields and gridview and its funcitons.
My Question is if user clicks on grid of CM then it can be redirected to CBM with Response.Redirect.But how to call the function dbSelectGrid of CBMs page.
I want to Create a page material.aspx which should inherit other page template.aspx with design and source and that template should be inherited from Master page
View 2 RepliesMy application is simple, I have 2 pages:
RSSProducer.aspx: A page that generates RSS (XML) feeds
RssConsumer.aspx: A page that retrieves the RSS feeds and displays it to the user in a repeater control. To do this I am using the System.Xml.XmlTextReader to fill a DataSet with tables based on the RSS-XML retrieved from the RSSProducePage. A table within the DataSet is bound to the repeater control.
For example, this is what I have in my RssConsumer.aspx page:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Session("permittedToViewSomeDetail") = True
Dim url = "http://localhost/DevSite/RSSProducer.aspx"
Dim reader As New System.Xml.XmlTextReader(url)
Dim ds As New DataSet()
ds.ReadXml(reader)
myRssRepeater.DataSource = ds.Tables(2)
myRssRepeater.DataBind()
End Sub
My problem is that user-authorization details are stored in Session in the RssConsumer page that need to be accessed in the RSSProducer page (in this example it would be Session("permittedToViewSomeDetail") that I need to access in the RSSProducer page); however, the Session identifier is not common between the two. This means that I cannot access the authorization details in the RSSProducer page.
The reason for why is fairly clear to me:
User's browser makes a request to the RssConsumer page Server generates a Session ID (which is stored in a cookie) if there is no existing Session Identifer The RSSConsumer requests the RSSProducer page...which generates a new Session ID every time because no session identifier is ever going to be found.
I tried using cookieless session so that I could pass the SessionID via the URL to the RSSProducer page as an experiment but for some reason the XmlTextReader doesn't work well with this method (but the desired shared session does work). I've hit a brick wall here. Does anyone know how to share session between pages when one page makes a request to the other?
how to make my source code to display on one line instead of multiple in source view. The display drives me batty when I'm trying to find something and I would prefer to display across the page instead of multiple lines down the page.

I have a website where I want keep track of the Statistics about the users who came to my page from different sources. I want to identify whether user came from Search engines / other websites / direct typing the URL. I am using asp.net and C#.
View 3 RepliesI am having an issue with one of my projects where I get the HTML source code from the page. I usually use the URL string and a Get method to get the source code like below:
[Code]....
The problem is that the page I am working with currently actually does a page redirect using a javascript function on the page like so:
[Code]....
I have been trying to figure out how to read in the the first page's HTML source code, post that HTML source back so it redirects, and then get the second page's HTML source code.
I want to take a file...say [URL]. It's not my site, it's some other site. I want to be able to open the HTML page source and look at it and possibly parse through it for something. I don't want to change it or do anything like that, I just want to parse through it.
Here's what I want to use it for. I want to grab the box score for a particular game, parse through the HTML source code and grab the individual stats for each player. Then use those numbers in my web app. I've done it for VB6 where it downloads the html file to my computer, opens it up and goes through it. But I'm not sure how to make it work on the web side. Does it make a copy of the html page on my site, then open it and parse it or is there some other way to go through it. I'm not sure really sure how to start it.
I am working with .net c#. Is there a way to see the rendered html code under the updatepanel?
more info:
I dynamically generate UI controls and place them in a asp:Panel control I have under updatePanel. My page is initially almost empty, and I add about 50 new controls upon button click. However, I cannot see the html code generated in the page source. as in, I can see my textfield on the screen but I cannot see the corresponding code in the html source on my browser.
I want to use a SQL data source on one page to diplay the returned list on a Grid View on another page.
I can get to the new page via a redirect, but how do i reference the data source from the previous page?
I am retrieving records from database using jquery ajax callback function in .js file. After successfull execution it returns the recordset in msg.d in success clause but its not returning the same value in aspx html source page.
var res;
function __callBackResult(_functionURL,_functionArgs)
{
//Begin JSON Code
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ""+_functionURL+"",
[code]...
Whenever I load the asp.net page first time the page source is updated but
when postback fires through ajax then I view the page source from browser,
It is the same which loads first time.
Why it is not updading?
How can I view the updated one?
Is there is any way to hide asp.net page view source?
View 4 RepliesI am new to VB.net programming and working on a school assignment. I have 2 display pages: default.aspx and DisplayTaxReturn.aspx. On default.aspx I have a list view where it uses data source to get the tax payer ID's from the server and I also have a details view where it displays the records associated to the tax payer.
When I click the View button on default.aspx it takes me to DisplayTaxReturn.aspx where it should display the tax payer ID and it's records that were displayed in default.aspx using label text fields.
My question is, how do I pass the values of the selected tax payer ID (datasource1 on default.aspx) to the DisplayTaxReturn.aspx page?
