Possible To Call The IIS 7+ SetUrl API From A Managed HttpModule?

Nov 2, 2010

the title says it all but just to elaborate a little further...What I basically need is to manage a large set of URL rewrites and redirects. The redirects are easy to do but the rewrites should be proxyed through the ARR proxy in IIS. As far as I can tell the IIS rewrite module uses the native setUrl API in IIS to get the ARR proxy to forward the request. I'm not up to the task of writing a native module so I thought it might be possible to write a managed module to do the same.@CarlosAg: Just to expand my comment on your answer. Heres the rules and providers I need to set up to make the rewrite module do what I want. Is it just me or doesn't it seem a little like manipulating the rewrite module into doing something it wasn't supposed to do?

<rewrite>
<providers>
<provider name="CustomRewrite" type="MyRewriteProviders.RewriteProvider, MyRewriteProviders,

Intellisense Broken In 64 Bit Windows When Using Mixed-mode (i.e. Managed C++) Assemblies?

Apr 22, 2010

This is annoying more than anything, but I have no working Intellisense when I use any of my custom web controls in .aspx/.ascx pages. Intellisense in standard <asp:...> controls are fine, as it is in all code-behind files etc.

I'm pretty sure this is caused by Visual Studio attempting to analyse the website's bin folder for custom web controls, and throwing a hissy fit when it gets to one of the DLLs - a (mixed-mode) 64-bit managed C++ assembly (I'm running 64-bit Win 7). It seems that Visual Studio tries to load this assembly, and fails, due to VS being a 32-bit app.

I looked for an option to get VS to ignore the 64-bit assembly (there are no web controls in it - they exist in another standard assembly), but alas, nothing to be found.

Configuration :: Deploying VS2010 Web Application To Server Managed With Plesk?

Nov 22, 2010

I've been using a standard web site in Visual Studio for my site, using the Plesk file manager interface to upload files either singly or in total as a .zip file.Recently I've changed the project to a VS web application.All the documentation that I see refers to using IIS to deploy a web app; if I wanted to just FTP all the source code, I may well have stayed with web site.I've not been able to find any Plesk specific deployment info.

Mysterious Statements Like 'aspnet_wp.exe' (Managed (v2.0.50727)): Loaded 'jpgxkjws' In Output?

Sep 14, 2010

I have an asp.net page that's taking longer to render than we'd like. I've been doing some manual Debug.WriteLine type performance testing and I noticed some statements in my output window that look something like:

'aspnet_wp.exe' (Managed (v2.0.50727)): Loaded 'jpgxkjws'

These statements are showing up in my output window when I'm doing "xml stuff" in my code. For instance I see one of these types of statements getting written to my output window when I execute the following line of code (sandwiched between two Debug.WriteLine statements):

System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In ToXml(), about to call XMLSerializer: " & Now.ToString("hh:mm:ss.ff"))
xmlSerial = New Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer(Me.GetType, xmlRoot) 'See a "loaded statement when this executes
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In ToXml(), finished call XMLSerializer: " & Now.ToString("hh:mm:ss.ff"))

These statements are pretty expensive, averaging about .75 seconds apiece. Any idea what these are and if it's possible to speed them up? Are these just statements just a artifact of my running my site in debug mode?I was initially perplexed that I couldn't find these files anywhere, but I ran procmon while debugging my asp.net site and did find where these files are located, they are located in

I am trying to export crystal report to pdf in asp.net, though the code is working well on localhost but on server I get error

HTTP Error 500.23 - Internal Server ErrorAn ASP.Net setting detected that does not apply in Integrated managed pipeline mode.

The crystal report is showing abnormal behaviors.I am using a CrystalReportViewer on which i have set the CrystalReportSource1 using the viewer Tasks.

The code on page load is :-

cn.Open();
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
string sql = "select * from Test";
OleDbDataAdapter da = new OleDbDataAdapter(sql, cn);
da.Fill(ds);

[Code].....

During the troubleshooting i encountered another unusual issue, where i tried a new crystal report with just simple report. That simple crystal report is not showing data & the toolbar images are not rendered. I googled on this but didn't found conclusive thing.

Is It Safe To Use An HttpModule For Localization

Feb 10, 2011

I'm considering making use of an HttpModule for localization purposes (based on the example in this article) - but I'm curious, is this safe?

Here's the code, for reference:

public class CookieLocalizationModule : IHttpModule
{
public void Dispose()
{
}

[code]....

I was under the impression that multiple threads could potentially service a web request. Is it safe to set the Current/Current UI Cultures in an HttpModule like this and have it respected for the life of the web request regardless of how many threads are involved in servicing it?

HTTPModule Only Getting Called Once Per Page?

However, when I deploy my application to IIS, the module is only being called once for the page request.

Is it reasonable to collect the 1 and 2 in the same action? (like same HttpModule)? Do you know about any existing structure that I can follow that track every request/response-status to the website? The data need to be logged to sql server.
