I have been looking for an answer to this for awhile and haven't found what I am looking for. I have a GridView with 5 columns. One of those columns is a very long string with instead of " ". I need to be able to fix the width of the column and have word wrap take care of the string till the end of it. I have tried all the properties on the gridview to get what I need but the span always stretches out horizontally and never wraps. Here is my gridView code
<asp:GridView ID="resultsGrid" AutoGenerateColumns="False" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
AllowSorting="True" PageSize="20" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging"
OnSorting="gridView_Sorting" PagerSettings-Position="TopAndBottom" PagerStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center">
<PagerSettings Position="TopAndBottom" />
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>
<%# Container.DataItemIndex + 1 + "." %>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField Visible="false" SortExpression="record_id">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblRecordID" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("RecordID") %>' Visible="false"></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Note Type" SortExpression="business_content_type_cd">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblNoteType" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("NoteType") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Author" SortExpression="author_user_name">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblAuthor" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Author") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Date" SortExpression="content_dttm">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Date") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label Width="100px" ID="lblData" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("NoteContent") %>'></asp:Label>
<asp:HyperLink ID="linkMore" runat="server" />
</ItemTemplate>
<FooterStyle Wrap="true" Width="100px" />
<HeaderStyle Wrap="true" Width="100px" />
<ItemStyle Wrap="true" Width="100px" />
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField SortExpression="size" Visible="false">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblSize" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Size") %>' Visible="false"></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>
<PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Center" />
</asp:GridView>
I am not a fan of what I have to do but the client wants what the client wants(I need to mimic the user interface of a mainframe screen).

I'm working within the confines of ASP.NET and HTML.
I have a gridview on the left and a gridview on the right.
When the user selects a checkbox in the left gridview and a checkbox in the right gridview, I would like a line to be rendered that connects the checkboxes.
Is there an efficient way to do this? Anything approaching this?
DrawLine(LeftCheckBox.Location, RightCheckbox.Location, Red, 1px)
The only thing I can think of that would be work, but be a poor solution, is positioning and stretching an Image vertically based upon where the selected checkboxes are.

I have a multiline textbox whose .Text property get saved in an SQL 2008 DB. When I submit the textbox, I loose the returns. How do I handle this?
I've used Enviroment.Newline() to do some html conversion stuff, but I've never ran into this specific problem.
Edit: Nevermind, it was working just fine, but I was replacing " " incorrectly. Stupid mistake. I have to convert the " " to <p> tags. I've done this before, but if anybody wants to answer, I'll mark their answer as correct.

This is my aspx code :
<asp:Chart ID="ChartAlertes" runat="server" Width="500px">
<Titles>
<asp:Title Text="Nombre d'alertes et leurs status en fonction des filtres renseignés"
BorderColor="Black" Alignment="TopCenter">
</asp:Title>
</Titles>
[code]...
I display 2 Points (2 columns) in the Chart Control and I change the color of the each Points with :
ChartAlertes.Series[0].Points[0].Color = System. Drawing. Color.Red;ChartAlertes.Series[0].Points[1].Color = System.Drawing.Color.DarkOrange;
But sometimes, I have only 1 Point to display or nothing at all on the Chart. So I'd like to check If there are some Points before to put the color of each Point.
For example :
if (ChartAlertes.Series[0].Empty == false)
{
//...
}

I have a ASP.NET gridview (embedded into a DIV) with several columns. For some columns line wraps are definied and for some not(with ItemStyle.Wrap = true/false). For all columns ItemStyle.Width is set to a specific value. Now I am wondering, that there is a line wrap in a column, where ItemStyle.Wrap = false. What could be the reason for that?

I have an xml file as shown below. In that the MailBody has contents stored in tabular form. In that table I have a column 'Description' which needs to preserve line breaks and paragraph format if user input is in paragraphs.
At present that column displays data as one whole paragraph even if user enters data with line breaks by Enter key.

I am using Multi-line Textbox through which users will be able to enter data which will be saved on to the SQL Server 2008 database. There is an other process, which reads this data from the table and writes to a text file.
Problem:
If the data entered by users in text box contains <Enter> from keyboard, it is saving to the database with some spaces replacing the <Enter>.
Some how if I read the same data to a text box on webpage, it is being displayed properly.
But, if my second process that reads the data from database and prints to a text file, it is not keeping the text format properly. It is not retaining the <Enter> in the data being printed to text file.

This stems from a recent similiar issue: I have since add edit capabilities.My access db is made up of imported records from recipes. In the memo fields are paragraphs users have typed replete with ingredients listed in succession (1 per line) then a normal paragraph follows. When in editmode(multi line textbox), suddenly in each line ends with <br>. How to fix this? I want to preserve the line breaks od course.

I am using DetailsView to pull database records and want to set the word wrap on the Edit page. But when I enter Edit the data shows up as a single long text string, (see pics). In the default display the text wraps fine. I have played with every option that is available even trying to set the field to a TemplateField but nothing I do displays the Edit test wrapped.
This is the edit page, notice that the Info field text is just a straight line.

I've got a text box control on a page and I want people to add URLs, one on each line and then split those URLs into an array.
So, I'm trying to split them on the newline character. I've tried:
.split(Environment.Newline)
.split('vbcrlf')
.split(vbcrlf)
.split((char)Environment.Newline)
