View 4 RepliesI have been looking for an answer to this for awhile and haven't found what I am looking for. I have a GridView with 5 columns. One of those columns is a very long string with instead of " ". I need to be able to fix the width of the column and have word wrap take care of the string till the end of it. I have tried all the properties on the gridview to get what I need but the span always stretches out horizontally and never wraps. Here is my gridView code
<asp:GridView ID="resultsGrid" AutoGenerateColumns="False" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
AllowSorting="True" PageSize="20" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging"
OnSorting="gridView_Sorting" PagerSettings-Position="TopAndBottom" PagerStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center">
<PagerSettings Position="TopAndBottom" />
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>
<%# Container.DataItemIndex + 1 + "." %>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
<asp:TemplateField Visible="false" SortExpression="record_id">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblRecordID" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("RecordID") %>' Visible="false"></asp:Label>

I want to limit the number of characters that a user can type in. How can I do that?
View 3 RepliesI am using DetailsView to pull database records and want to set the word wrap on the Edit page. But when I enter Edit the data shows up as a single long text string, (see pics). In the default display the text wraps fine. I have played with every option that is available even trying to set the field to a TemplateField but nothing I do displays the Edit test wrapped.
This is the edit page, notice that the Info field text is just a straight line.
I have a problem with wrapping a label inside some cell. This is the code:

Everything is 100%, because it is for mobile browsers. Sometimes the lblTitle is too long and it exceeds the page width. I wont in this case, when it is to long, to wrap it and show it in new line. How can I do it?
Is there a way to copy a html table to a word document but it has to be exactly like doing it manually. Because i found some solutions but none was the same as doing it manually.
View 2 RepliesI was looking for functionality in SSRS 2008 that allows the creation of a table of contents when exporting to Microsoft Word.
I have not been able to find any examples and thought maybe I would have to use a 3rd party component. Has anyone had experience doing this in SSRS and if so could you provide an example.
How can I search a word in all the columns of a table?
View 4 RepliesI can easily create a search that will allow a user to input a single word (or a portion of a single word) into a text box that will search a database column.
But what I want is for the user to be able to type two or three words into the textbox and produce results where just one of the words have to match the contents of the columns cell.
I don't need to be able to do a multi column or table search, and I'm using C# and MS Access.
I imagine this question would have been asked more than a couple of times - but I can't find a decent answer.
I am having with placing an If statement to write a message of "please try again" if someones search query finds nothing within my headline table within my database.
I have got my application pulling out seperate links by word by searching within my headline table row but what I want is if there isn't a word associated from the users search to display the "please try again". The code I have in my controller and the view page is as follows :-
HOME CONTROLLER
using UniApp.Controllers;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web.Mvc;[code]....
I have a page with two textboxes (one for english and one for korean)..
I want users to be able to enter an english word or enter a korean word in each respective textboxes...
Now I can only enter english in both of them... Even if my keyboard language is switched to Korean(I have the language pack installed).. I can not type in Korean in the Korean text box....
I thought I could simply change this using something like:

I'm hoping this is an easy one...I'm using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word to convert uploaded word documents into previewable html files. I haven't implemented it fully, but I've played around with it enough that I think I have a plan that will work... My question revolves around
[Code]....
I'm not in love with the idea of opening word and closing it everytime there's an upload (which I hope is a lot of the time) I'd like to make this a shared object that loads at application start. I have 2 questions
that go along with this. 1. I imagine that winword could lock up and that would be a problem, right? 2. to save a document I use wordapp.ActiveDocument, this could have an issue as a shared object, right? I think I'm talking myself right out of this...
I have requirement where I need to allow users to upload a Word document with place holders for certain fields which can be found in the database. This will be their template. For example the place holders might be prepended with @@ or something. For example
Dear @@Title @@Lastname
They then can grab a record and hit export to Word document. This will then let them choose the template. They can select the template and then click continue. I will then get the template and replace the @@Title with the title field in the database for the selected record. I am not sure where to start or what components I need to do this.
From my initial investigation it seems that I can do this with the new open XML standard for Office 2007. So perhaps I should read in the template and save all the contents to a db table somewhere. Then when the use wants to export I get the contents again and then do a search and replace for the @@ placeholders and link them properly. Then save the document to the output stream again which will then bring up the save dialog on their browser.
I am using ASP.Net MVC and am in a hosted environment. I was also maybe contemplating dynamically creating a new View type and dynamically creating new views when the user uploads a template. Not sure that this approach will work though.
I have a word document which opens in a web browser using ASP.NET 2.0 this is the code:

THIS WORKS, PROMPTING THE USER WITH "OPEN" "SAVE" "CANCEL" OR SOME USERS WITH "SAVE" "CANCEL" DEPENDING ON USER INTERNET SECURITY SETTING. BUT FOR SECURITY ISSUES, MY BOSS WANT THIS WORD DOCUMENT TO BE OPENED IN WORD PROGRAM. (MICROSOFT WORD 93,97 ETC) IS THIS POSSIBLE....? OFCOURSE SAVING THE FILE IS OKAY, JUST OPENING THE DOCUMENT SHOULD BE NOT BROWSER.
I'm a student doing final year of my Computer Science and Engineering. For my final year project i've choosen to do an online word processor such as google docs,zoho etc.I want to implement this project in .net. This will be a ajax oriented project and i'm well prepared with the web related part of it with ASP.net and C#.net at the server end and HTML,Javascript at the front end. But the point where i'm struck up is:
-> How can i create, edit and add MS Word features to a .doc file using VB.net or C#.net??
-> .net Library classes that will be helpful for me to create word related components as .doc files i.e how to create word using .net?
-> How can i convert a .doc file to HTML file to display it on a web browser?
-> In brief tell me how to create a word processor so that i'll be able to create it online.
I need to export data that is in a girdview to Micorsoft Word table.

I use the following code to export to microsoft word.

My requirement is : I have to open a word document in Microsoft word from my web application and the word document is stored in the server location.
In javascript i wrote a code to open the word document like below.

var WordDoc = dsWordApp.Documents.Open(FileName)
Using above script i am able to open the local word doc files but i am unable to open the server side word doc file.
how to open a server side word doc fie in MSword.
I would like to know about commands of : How can I set an index to a single word on my word-document, by some asp commands.(Word-basic ...)Also, how to merge two files to a single word file (rtf).
View 1 RepliesI am facing the situation in which i have to expose a dll (managed) through web services. Basically make everything from dll accessible to other applications through web services. The dll is a third party and i cannot give any other info on it , but my problem would not depend on this details.
I am looking for the latest best practices (latest tech) approach on how to start this. One thing i have been documented over was Web Service Software Factory, but i do not know how good would this approach be for my situation, and i would welcome some ideas based on experience ofc. The top things i liked and need in my project about the WS Factory were : SOAP faults handling , Entity Translator , Versioning (covering both forward and backward compatibility).
Consider this snippet below:
[Code]....
This works great, and it works how I want it to... But... I have lot's of methods that have this attribute.
Is there a way I can wrap this some how so I can just say ([CustomBind] MyListObject theList)?I of course tried to extend it, but the class is sealed.
