In my website their is a module in which I m retrieving the data from the student master table..
In my gridview their are 5 columns (Student Id,Student name,Roll no,and a checkbox column,Date Textbox column which is empty) in which the data is retrieved from student master table....
I m adding the date in the textbox which is out of the gridview and when i check the checkbox for each student the data is stored in another table in database with a status as present for the checked students and absent for the unchecked students...
What i want is dat when i check the student and i select the date for the student and the data is entered in new table after all this i wld not be allowed to make the attendance for the same student for the same date bt i wld be allowed to mark attendance for the same student for another date..
for example i check the checkbox for the student "Rohit" and entered the date 1/1/13 and rohit is stored with status present in the another table for date 1/1/13 and now he shld be disabled so dat i wld not be able to mark his attendance for the date 1/1/13 and prevent the duplication...Bt after dat i would be allowed to mark "Rohit's" attendance for the date 2/1/13...
means he should be disabled for the single date...
Using vb.net/asp.net 2005.
I am modifying an existing page where I am doing an insert into tables, adding an email address for the team, both fields input from the user.
However, Each email can only exist once for a given team (I have a unique index constraint in my code) so when this exception happens I am showing text something like "you cannot add the same email address for this team" and I am also changing the following property of my CreateUserWizard:
[Code]....
before this it was displaying something like "you have successfully created your user..."
However if the user attempts to add the same email address again for a given team I want to prevent the user from registering.
Anyways, my question is that its good I am hiding the "successfully created..." text however I am still seeing the following:
1. "Complete" word
2. A button with the text "Continue" on it.
I also need to hide both the "Complete" text and the "Continue" button.
This is confusing to the user because it suggests that the user was created successfully but this is not the case in the scenario I described.
How to read character by character in line from text file?
View 1 RepliesI looked up the msdn documentation and it says that InvalidUserName is thrown when it does not find the username in the database, which is fine because the user I am creating should not exist in the database. If I use test@example.com, it works, but if I try it with test.@example.com, the status from Membership.CreateUser is InvalidUserName.

Having to deal with URL rewriting, I decided to programmatically add CSS references rather than relying on the automatic behavior of ASP.NET to add all CSS files within a theme automatically to the <head> of an ASPX page.I suceeded in adding the CSS file programmatically by using
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" runat="server" id="CssFile" />
and setting the actual URL it in code behind.My question is:Is there a way to prevent the ASP.NET "engine" from automatically adding all CSS files into the <head> of my ASPX/master page?(Of course, I still could go with my own folders and completely drop the App_Themes concept)
I am getting an error whenever I try to get the first character from a textbox control when nothing was entered into it. So, I need to be able to check if there are any entries in a textbox before trying to get the first one.
View 2 RepliesI have an aplication in asp.net MVC and using telerik grid for displaying the record. Now one of my field has some large text about 1000 character due to which the text is getting extended vertically and layout is not looking good.
Is there any way to show some specific number of character in the column and show the whole text in a tool tip on mouse hover or any other way to show the complete text for that column.

View 1 RepliesI'm adding hotkeys to a web application in order to enable keyboard shortcuts for our CSRs to use, to reduce injury and increase calls-per-hour. I'm using an ASP.net UserControl to inject javascript into the page and it's working great. I want the control to "just work", so that when hotkeys are assigned, using a declarative syntax, if the hotkeyed letter exists in the link text, it will be highlighted automatically, so the developer doesn't have to do anything, and also to maintain consistency in visual cues. Here's the code to assign hotkeys, if it matters:
<uc:HotKeysControl ID="theHotkeys" runat="server" Visible="true">
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnInvoiceEverBill" KeyCode="ctrl+v" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnRefund" KeyCode="ctrl+u" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="thirdControl" KeyCode="ctrl+p" />
</uc:HotKeysControl>
I want something like:
<a href="whatever" name="thirdControl">Make a <span class=hotkey">P</span>ayment</a>
but I'm not married to the idea of injecting a <span/> in there if there's a better way. How can I do this in CSS or JQuery? Is there a way to pass in a letter to a CSS style and have it change the color of the text displayed? Should I generate javascript to highlight the text when the page loads? What would/did you do in this situation?

I have a floating div on my page that contains an image. While everything looks ok in VisualStudio 2008, when I post the page to my server, the text in the image below the upper div shifts to the left of the div.
You can see the problem in the top paragraph at this url [URL]

I have a legacy MySQL database which stores the user passwords & salts for a membership system. Both of these values have been hashed using the Ruby framework - roughly like this:
hashedsalt =
Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("--#{Time.now.to_s}--#{login}--")
hashedpassword =
Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("#{hashedsalt}:#{password}")
So both values are stored as 40-character strings (varchar(40)) in MySQL. Now I need to import all of these users into the ASP.NET membership framework for a new web site, which uses a SQL Server database. It is my understanding that the the way I have ASP.NET membership configured, the user passwords and salts are also stored in the membership database (in table aspnet_Membership) as SHA1 hashes, which are then Base64 encoded (see here for details) and stored as nvarchar(128) data.
But from the length of the Base64 encoded strings that are stored (28 characters) it seems that the SHA1 hashes that ASP.NET membership generates are only 20 characters long, rather than 40. From some other reading I have been doing I am thinking this has to do with the number of bits per character/character set/encoding or something related.
So is there some way to convert the 40-character SHA1 hashes to 20-character hashes which I can then transfer to the new ASP.NET membership data table? I'm pretty familiar with ASP.NET membership by now but I feel like I'm just missing this one piece. However, it may also be known that SHA1 in Ruby and SHA1 in .NET are incompatible, so I'm fighting a losing battle.
Into below code which is working fine, but the last section which started from using (SqlCommand SendMailcmd ... update it as i want when the user click on the button the code take the AdsID and (QAdsEmail "the user email") and send an e-mail to user depending on QAdsEmail and inside the email create a link to URL... so the user when he receive the mail he can click on it and move to the page to edit his Ad info ...
The table where below info will store in is called "ads" and the column that's need for sending email with ad info/the E-mail part of the code below i just copy it from another part of my application ...
protected void adNewQdadsbtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

string FileExtentio2 = System.IO.Path.GetExtension(RegInteFileUploadImg2.FileName);
