Sending Base64 Encoded Query String?
Jan 5, 2011
I am creating a web site in .Net 3.5 , I am converting the string into Base64String to send it through querystring.The Response.Redirect works fine for smaller string. But if the original string size is 1670,the response.redirect results in error "Page can not be found".item is the string in below code snippet.
byte[] data = Encoding.Default.GetBytes(item);
return Convert.ToBase64String(data)

We are sending an HTML encoded string in the Query string. It was working fine on IIS 6 (windows 2003). We have recently moved the website to Windows 2008 (IIS 7.x). Since the move any Query String that contains "+" sign i.e., "%2b" gives error on the server "404 -File or directory not found."

I know that I could use HttpServerUtility.UrlTokenDecode Method to do the job. But the problem is that I am using .NET 1.1 and this method is only supported in .NET 2.0+. Also I found that Convert.ToBase64String method is not an option because of the differences addressed here. So what other options do I have? Do I have to write my own converting method?

While saving password i am encrypting it using the following method:
public string base64Encode(string sData) { try { byte[] encData_byte = new byte[sData.Length]; encData_byte = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sData); string encodedData = Convert.ToBase64String(encData_byte); return encodedData; } catch (Exception ex) { throw new Exception("Error in base64Encode" + ex.Message); } }

Another beginner question, I'm afraid... I was wondering if someone could tell me the easiest and most efficient way of getting the fully qualified domain name (e.g. www.google.com) from a UrlEncoded string in ASP.Net (C#).For example: http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dsome%20things%20i%20searched%20forWould give me: www.google.com(Or basically anything where I can check the domain to make sure it's correct.)I'm guessing the first step might be to UrlDecode, but since this is how I'm getting the string, I thought I'd mention it incase it's easier Encoded.

I'm using ASP.NET with sql-server. I have an area where the user can enter text of a maximum amount. I encode this text as a good measure but the encoded length can be greater than this maximum amount when I try to insert it into the database.
Special characters are encoded on 3 characters. I can't show the user that he has exceeded the max amount of characters because from his perspective he hasn't. I also can't set the database field to the worst case scenario (being 3 times my max amount).

I am really struggling deserializing a PHP json encoded string in ASP.NET.I am using nusoap and CakePHP 1.3 on the PHP side and mvc.net 4.0 on the web service side and everything was working well. However, I couldn't figure out how to pass a complex array as one parameter of the webservice, so I had the idea of serializing it as json and passing a simple string. So far so good...
$args['products'] = json_encode($booking['Booking']['prs_products']);

I'm running into following error: "The viewstate is invalid for this page and might be corrupted." "Invalid character in base64 string." Only with IE 8.0. Firefox works fine. The persisted view state is
"/wEPDwULLTE2OTU5NzE1MjYPZBYCAgMPZBYCAgEPZBYCAgMPZBYCZg9kFgQCBQ8WAh4FVmFsdWUFCGRpc2FibGVkZAIHDxYCHwAFCGRpc2FibGVkZGSt4I2szqsXGPwfecanpFW+cIZNhQ==,/wEPDwULLTE2OTU5NzE1MjYPZBYCAgMPZBYCAgEPZBYCAgMPZBYCZg9kFgQCBQ8WAh4FVmFsdWUFCGRpc2FibGVkZAIHDxYCHwAFCGRpc2FibGVkZGSt4I2szqsXGPwfecanpFW+cIZNhQ=="
i.e. two identical parts separated by a comma. I'm using a form with both jQuery and UpdatePanel. I've inspected the __VIEWSTATE hidden field before the post __doPostBack and $I.System.InvokePageMethod. In both cases the viewstate does NOT contain the comma. where the field gets doubled up with the comma inserted? Or how to fix.

I have a simple ASP.net page:
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<p><asp:TextBox id="input_box" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button Text="OK" runat="server" OnClick="run" /></p>
</form>
I want to send input from input_box to a query string, and then keep this input in the input_box when the page reloads.
That's the code behind page:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
input_box.Text = Request.QueryString["input"];
}
protected void run(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string url = string.Format("?input={0}", input_box.Text);
Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsolutePath + url);
}
Problem is that when query string is not empty, string from input_box cannot be passed to query string. How to correct it?

123
543
234
may be the id's which should be displayed after fetching from the database. However, it should be displayed as it it is without any control or without arranging in any gird etc. How can that be done?

I am confused here as to how to handle this. I have a stroed procedure that using the IN clause like so:
[Code]....
Now, partners can be either a single partner ID like so: 12345 or it can be many like: 12345, 22222, 33333Here is the sqlDataReader from my code:
[Code]....
When partner_list contains only one partner id like "12345" it works fine. If it has more than one then the DataReader states that there are no rows in the reader? I also tried to send the dealer list as a string with ticks, like '12345','22222','33333' but that doesnt work either.

here i am using only just one property.
[code]....
total length of the final string will be 120MB or so.
With this code i am getting out of memory errors intermittently. To resolve this issue ..i am planning to create a HTTP handler for streaming XML output to browser.
