RegularExpresssoinValidator. I want to use it in a field where users enter URLs. I not only want to make sure that it's a valid URL but I also want to make sure that it's only those sites that are allowed.Let's say, I want my users to enter only YouTube or CNN URLs. How do I use the RegularExpressionValidator for this?
View 3 RepliesWe have many different clients, and each client can have multiple user accounts.Right now, we have user settings set up on the ASP project, and a WinForms application can see these settings, depending on which user logs into the winforms application. They are specific to the user. I want to make them specific to the client, so users can be in "groups" by their client, and all users in the group would see/update the same settings.
View 1 RepliesI have recently updated a website. All of the urls have changed. Now I get traffic to old urls that doesn't exist anymore. However, most of these url's have corresponding pages on the new site. I believe most of the traffic to the old urls are spiders. What would be the correct way to handle this?
Preferably I'd like a solution that gives a nice experience for the real users if they type in an old url (or use an old bookmark they've made) but that also notifies the spiders of the change of url, so that they can update their registers. However, if the two are hard to combine, the last one is prioritized (since most of the traffic is spiders). I'm using ASP.NET
I have a simple custom membership provider. And i have a roles table also in my database with 2 roles in, User and admin. I dont think i need to implement the roleprovider as this will be overkill for what i need.
How can i modify the validate user method to route users to one URL and admin to another?
Can i put in a If statement to say If role = admin go here after a user has been validated?

I'm looking at asp:webpart to implement some personalization on a startpage for a insurance web app.(no Sharepoint) I have read some and made some tests but I have at least one thing that I don't understand.
In some cases I wanted to reset all users personalizations to the page default settings. So to speak, I will do it in an authoritarian way.
How can I do this? Database manipulation? Which table in the database? Or is there another way?
In our IIS (v 6.0) there is one classic ASP app deployed, which has around 35 concurrent users. Now, a new ASP.NET(3.5) app needs to be deployed on the same server which will have its own 50 concurrent users. In this scenario should we create a Application Pool for this new .net app? What are other recommendations for the IIS settings in future?

View 10 RepliesI need to let my users enter a variable length list of items into something that looks like a grid view (or a series of standard text boxes stacked vertically). Each item could be a few characters or a few hundred characters long, and I just want them to enter a "sentence", and then tab to the next row, and always having another blank one ready to go at the bottom of the list.
I don't want to save any data to my SQL Server DB until they enter the entire list and then click on a "save all" button. When they hit the "save all" button they will be given a preview screen where the data will be presented as standard HTML ordered list. If they confirm/save, then each row of the grid will then be saved as a separate row into my SQL Server database (with an index to remember the order).What ASP.Net (or Jquery/javascript) UI control would be the best to use in this situation? (i.e. just for the data entry part - the rest I got covered).
I'm writing a program that records time-in and time-out and I have a problem when trying to retrieve data for a specific date.In the table, the "timein" and "timeout" fields have format of "smalldatetime". To record the timein, I insert the system time (by using System.DateTime.Now) into the "timein" field.I want two types of searches.
1) Search records between a date range
2) Search records for a specific date
For example, First, I want to search if there are any records between 11/2/2010 and 12/1/2010. I will ask user to input "11/2/2010" as start date and "12/1/2010" as end date. I will use Convert.DateTime() methods to convert these two input before put them
into SQL query like:
"SELECT * FROM timesheet WHERE timein BETWEEN Convert.DateTime(startdate) AND Convert.DateTime(enddate)"
The output results do not include the date 11/2/2010 and 12/1/2010. I get only the dates in between. I know that is the limitation of BETWEEN. I wonder if someone has a way to work around this limitation.
Secondly, I want to prompt users to enter a specific date like (11/2/2010) and search the table for rows match that criteria. I can't get this to work. I have tried "SELECT * from timesheet WHERE timein LIKE '%searchdate%'", "......timein = 'searchdate'" but none works.

I have a page with two textboxes (one for english and one for korean)..
I want users to be able to enter an english word or enter a korean word in each respective textboxes...
Now I can only enter english in both of them... Even if my keyboard language is switched to Korean(I have the language pack installed).. I can not type in Korean in the Korean text box....
