I have a simple upload page using the html file element. I choose a .pdf file to upload and when I inspect the Content type of the file when it goes to server the value is "application/msword" instead of "application/pdf"

I have an ASP.NET FileUpload control, which allows only image type. I used RegularExpressionValidator like below.

This method will only verify the file's extension, not its actual type. Once I receive the file, I want to examine its contents to determine what it really is, in this case image only.

"The content type text/html of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8)..."
The thing is, it happens once in a while even when no changes have been made to the service or the web app. And I can make it go away most of the time by going directly to the .svc?wsdl page in my browser and then coming back to the web app.
I'm in a little bit of a bind and have some weird behavior happening with a multiview control behaving differently between two machines, and of course, the production machine is the broken one. The page renders the correct content on both machines, but if I save the html file the production machine's source is wrong.
For example, if for step 1 the output should be just the letter A, and step 2 the output should be just the letter B, and step 3 the output should be the letter C, here is what happens:
Step 1:
Production - The source and output are both the letter A
Dev - the source and output are both the letter A
Step 2:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter B
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter B
Step 3:
Production - the source is the letter A and the ouput on the browser is the letter C
Dev - the source and output on the browser are both the letter C
Is this some issue with SessionState? I'm very new to Multiviews and by no means an ASP expert.
I'm busy writing a handler to serve various documents for download or presentation in web forms pages. The documents range from various image formats, to PDF, to MS Office documents, to generic binaries. My basic draft of the download process is as below:

However, I have some misgivings about lumping all documents together as application/octet-stream, and I would prefer, if feasible, to use a more specific content type per document type. I have a DB table for document types where I could store this. Am I going in the right direction, and if so, where can I find a suitable starting list of content types for document types?
I'm using an AsyncFileUploader and I want to check if the uploaded file is of valid type (e.g. jpg, gif, png, etc...) and if not the AsyncFileUploader should be colored in Red (like ErrorbackColor setting to Red)
Is this possible either using Javascript or FileUploader events?
Currently my IIS is serving CSS files with no Content-Type header. How to change it? Should I change it on my application or in the server?
View 1 RepliesI've recently inherited an ASP.NET 2.0 project from other developers and they have a LinqToSql datacontext with stored procedures. I've been asked to modify one of the SPs which is essentially just adding a couple columns to the database table and then those to parameters to the SP. So I delete the existing SP from the L2S context and drag in the new one with the additional fields, and all hell breaks loose. Suddenly I get over 20 errors! What seems to have occured is L2S has modified many other stored procedures that I haven't even touched and changed the return type from ISingleDefault<some object> to int. I've never used stored procedures before with L2S so I don't know if this is standard behavior or not. Does anyone know why this has happened and how to fix it to set the correct return type?

I have so far allways been using "int" as the column type in database table because there is no Boolean type to choose from when designing the columns of a table in the MS SQL Express? I have a web form that uploads files by <asp:FileUpload> control. It uploads files to any folder on the disk (path to uploads can change in web.config, for example "c:UploadedFiles"). After file has been uploaded I need to show a link on the WebPage to download this file.
How it's possible create a link to this file (or what is another solution) on the web page if my website is in completely different place!?

I have implemented this with a web user control where I have a fixed path to a page in the web project where the upload of files take place and it works just fine.
The created control in this class library is used in the web project. How do I post the uploaded file to a page, say SomeClass.cs, in the class library.
