View 1 RepliesUrl rewriting not working on live server in asp.net but locally working fine. but locally it's not case sensitive.
View 1 RepliesMy website is running fine on my local system but when i upload it on IIS6 of my local computer [Ajax.AjaxMethod] is not working. How i will solve it.
View 1 RepliesI'm running a weird issue here. I have code that makes jquery ajax calls to a web service and dynamically adds controls using jquery. Everything works fine on my dev machine running IIS 5.1, but not when deployed to IIS 6. I'm using VS2010/ASP.Net 4.0, C#, jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1. I'm using the same browser for each.
It partially works though. The code will add the controls to the page, but they aren't visible until I click them (they aren't visible though). I thought this was a css issue, but the styles are there too.
The ajax calls look like this:

After checking everything in Fiddler and finding no differences, I tried it in Firefox, where it worked. Got me to thinking and sure enough, I was wrong, IE WAS going into compatibility mode. apparently by default it will use compatibility mode on the intranet, but not localhost (which happened to be the different versions of IIS). I tried IE7 and got the same thing. I need to change my code to make sure it works on IE7 as well.
We are migrating an existing asp.net application from Windows Server 2003 with IIS6 to windows server 2008 with IIS7.
we use System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials to pass the user credential to a web service. It is working fine with the old environment but with the new one we got "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." error.
How can I fix this problem with IIS7?
i have made click once application .when i run it on staging server it gives then a error the than
Intelligencia.UrlRewriter.RewriterHttpModule, Intelligencia.UrlRewriter (i am using this for url rewriting) as i remove this its work fine.
Im using Intelligencia UrlRewriter for url rewriting. I have wrote a set of rules in the web.config file I have two sets pages, Static pages whose name is static but content is CMS based Dynamic pages (actually this is not simply a dynamic page its a category which have description and sub categories) Here both pages are being rewritten from the config file. For instance home page, about us page etc tis is being rewritten as
rewrite url="~/Home" to="~/Default.aspx"
The category page is being the same kind of url its being rewritten as
rewrite url="~/(.*)" to="~/GroupHome.aspx?Group=$1"
I have given the rules for the static pages first and then the category url but all the urls are being rewritten to grouphome, even if I have given the rule for home page, about us page etc before the category rule. I have tried even the ollowing still its directing to Group home,
<rewrite url="~/Home" to="~/Default.aspx"/>
<rewrite url="~/(.*)/" to="~/GroupHome.aspx?Group=$1"/>
<rewrite url="~/Home" to="~/Default.aspx"/>
How the rule can be rewritten to include both urls
Refer to my this question: Page not redirecting properly, URL rewriting (Asp.NET)
Which is resolved except one thing.
Though I have put the code to eliminate post back for .jpg and other file extension, JQuery at the web page is not working.
<script type="text/javascript" src="JS/jquery.js"></script>
I have written it like the above. I have tried to change the path like
<script type="text/javascript" src="~/JS/jquery.js"></script>
i am using Intelligencia.UrlRewriter on my website and it works fine on my development machine, i tryed to deploy on IIS6 and i get this error:
The page cannot be found

I hosted my project on Godaddy server and they say that the settings required for Url rewriting was already there.But I am getting a blank page when trying to use virtual url to redirect to a aspx page.
<urlrewritingnet
rewriteOnlyVirtualUrls="true"
contextItemsPrefix="QueryString"
defaultPage="default.aspx"

This is my code in Test.aspx page

I recently switched from Godaddy shared hosting to Godaddy 4th generation hosting or grid hosting.
As per my other question UrlRewriter.NET with .NET 4.0 and Godaddy not working I was unable to get UrlRewriter.NET to work.
So now I have tried ManagedFusion. It works locally but does not work on the Godaddy servers BUT the errors are different and I sense that this might actually work and I have done something wrong in the configuration.
So my web.config settings are (condensed version)
<configuration>
<configSections>
<section name="managedFusion.rewriter" type="ManagedFusion.Rewriter.Configuration.ManagedFusionRewriterSectionGroup"/>
[Code]....
Now this works perfectly fine on my local machine (Visual Studio 2010) but when I upload it to Godaddy servers I get a 404 that says it can't find /Campaign/List.aspx.
And on top of this it also goes to SSL, which I don't want as the SSL cert on that account is for a different subdomain and hence throws an SSL error.
Is there something I am doing wrong? It seems this time the URL module is handling all requests and this looks like I have configured it incorrectly somehow.

I have implemented URL rewritting in my application. I did it in Application_BeginRequest located in Global.asax. My url rewritting in working fine. Now in order to maintain rewritting during post back.
I have added code line this.Form.Action = Request.RawUrl; in page load event in order to maintain rewritten URL during post back. When I am adding below code on image button click to download file it doesn't work. It says "Internet explorer cannot display webpage". When I am removing line this.Form.Action = Request.RawUrl; from page load then downloading file will start working but URL rewritting will not work on postback.
FileInfo objFi = new FileInfo(Server.MapPath(filepath));
this.Form.Action = Request.RawUrl;
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + objFi.Name);
HttpContext.Current.Response.Charset = "";
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", objFi.Length.ToString());
HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream";
HttpContext.Current.Response.Clear();
HttpContext.Current.Response.WriteFile(objFi.FullName);
HttpContext.Current.Response.Flush();
HttpContext.Current.Response.End();
I want the rewrite url to work on the virtual dedicated server. so when someone enters the url without extension like http://megafastline.com/feedback , it shud display the contents of the page feedback.aspx
The code work perfectly fine in the localhost, but when i uploaded this on the godaddy dedicated virtual server and hit http://megafastline.com/feedback , i m getting
page cannot be found!
This is my code below

This is a really odd situation, so hopefully I can explain it well enough.
I am deploying an ASP.NET 4 webforms application to a Windows Server 2003 SP2 server running IIS6.
Here's the problem -- when the application pool recycles its worker process (w3wp.exe), about 80% of the time, I will get an ReflectionTypeLoadException error trying to access any page in the app that contains an EntityDataSoure every time I try to view it.
However (this is the interesting part) -- the other 20%, it works just fine. I've actually resorted to turning off recycling the worker process entirely for this application pool and just add/remove whitespace from web.config forcing the site to recompile until I get a "good" w3wp.exe.
If this isn't clear, what I'm saying is: the actual worker process doesn't work at all for pages containing an EntityDataSource for about 4/5 times it starts, but still manages to serve all other pages just fine. Once you get a worker process that manages to serve a page with an EntityDataSource, it works every time until that process gets recycled.
My question is, how can I debug this? It works fine on my dev machine, it works fine on the server as long as you get a good process running, but iisreset or a server restart or anything that kills the worker process is almost guaranteed to cause the site to not come back up and throw this ReflectionTypeLoadException.

I am trying to implement URL rewriting technique in my Web application.I have found some articles on net 2 rewrite URL. But i m not able to understand. tell me any API or DLL which will take care of all url rewriting techniques in my Web applications.
I have heard something abt UrlRewriter.ddl . But i have not used it yet. provide me the easiest way to do that. If any sample application is there then it will be better ti understand
I have a virtual folder containing an administration application, like
[URL]
which requires SSL. In the IIS manager properties for the folder, under "Authentication and access control", Anonymous Access is disabled and "Authenticated Access" is set to "Integrated Windows authentication."
When I connect to the site in Chrome, I receive two login boxes. The first is from mysite.com/alpha:443, and the second is from mysite.com/alpha:80. Firefox appears to re-send my credentials for the second box so it is never shown.
I have an MVC2 application where i post a DELETE to MyController/Delete/ID.This is working fine if I debug the application, however, when I put it on the application server (IIS6), I keep "Unauthorized" as a result. I googled a lot, but I didn't find any problems the same as mine.
View 21 RepliesI have a site .net 2.0 and I redirected users to alogin page when the hit the site. (I think the default.aspx page)
But i cant remember how i did it.
I am now wanting upgrade to asp.net mvc appbut the redirect is still there to a nonexistent page.
I've set up a web app on IIS6 with a "{controller}.mvc/..."-mapping. Everything is running fine - except for the root-path (http://www.myapp.com). The additional routes.MapRoute for "Root" is applied in global.asax (as in the MS-example "Listing 2 - Global.asax (modified with extensions)").In VS2010 debugging mode everything (including the root) works - as well as in the "published" app (on Win7 IIS 7.5). I've copied the whole published app to the IIS6.

I have a fully dynamic application that uses UrlRewriting.Net that works perfectly within the visual studio environment. As you can see from the rules within the web.config file below, UrlRewriting.Net rewrites the destination as "~/index.aspx?URLPath=$1&URLString=$2", basically index.aspx searches the database for the page properties and builds the page based on the parameters passed. There are no physical files for the website, only index.aspx with all pages and its webparts build dynamically on the fly.
The application is compiled as ASP.NET 3.5 and runs on a Windows Server 2003 x64 standard edition.
To my knowledge the configuration you see in the web.config below should work in iis6, however does not
. Does the installment of UrlRewriting.Net require configuration in iis6 as well?

I've recently upgraded VS 2008 to VS 2010. On our server we have IIS6 installed and we can not change that in near future. Even though we will develop new applications to be deployed on IIS7 but if situation demands we may need to develop an application using .net 4.0 and to be deployed on IIS6, then in this case I wanted to know whether IIS6 supports .net 4.0 application or not?
If I can deploy, then do I need to take care of any configuration or any other setting I should change before deploying it?
I added the following lines to Application_Start method in global.asax:
var provider = new TestVirtualPathProvider();
HostingEnvironment.RegisterVirtualPathProvider(provider);
Yet the 'TestVirtualPathProvider' is never used when deploying this application in IIS6 (it does in the ASP.NET Development Server).
Edit: the default path provider has always done its job correctly and served (non-embedded) views correctly. The problem is simply that I want to use my own path provider to provide embedded views. So, initially, I already had the following wildcard mapping configured:
Any possible reasons why this does not work in IIS6? Are there any other factors (handlers for example) wich might influence the used VirtualPathProvider?
I have a error when I'm trying to browse the web service in IIS6. I checked with a sample textile with the IIS6, its working fine. But when I'm rying to browse the asp.net web service it getting fail. The same web service working with some other machine, but not with this machine. see the screen for the error information
