Web Forms :: Asp Menu Working Fine In The Dev Environment But Not On Server
Sep 17, 2010I am sorry to be asking what is probably a really stupid question, but i have a problem with my asp menu, when i run it on my dev machine(thru vs2010) it works perfectly, all the menu's are displayed correctly with the correct child items in the correct order but when i publish it to the server all the menu items become flat and take up the whole page. I am populating the menu using a reentrant function as follows to call the function and add the menus i am using

Jan 25, 2011OK Here is the situation:
I have a web app with a table of statistics on our salesmen's customers, and each row has a sparkline graph showing the general trend of the sales data for the last 12 months. Each page shows a particular salesman's customer list, and some of them can have an enormous number of customers = an enormous number of rows = an enormous number of sparklines (e.g. one in particular has 125 and takes 15 seconds to load).
For this reason, jQuery sparklines could not be used - they completely pinned the CPU of a user accessing a page with a lot of sparklines with IE.
So I moved on to using the Google Chart API, which worked much better, except for two issues: 1) it's on a secure site, and the Google Chart API URL is only served over HTTP (solved by using a small wrapper script to download the graph dynamically and re-serve it from our secure server); and 2) on a page with 125 sparklines, it was still very slow due to the number of requests (even when the 0-9 server prefixes are used to maximize the # of available connections).
So my next step beyond this was to try to make each of the "download/grab/re-serve image" method calls asynchronous - and it worked!
...but only on my dev box running in debug mode.
When I pushed it up to the live site, it was faster, but it left some of the images unloaded, which is of course unacceptable.
So here is what I was hoping some SO hotshot would know:
1) Why are my asynchronous method calls working while debugging, but not working on the live site?
2) Is there any easier way to get a large number of sparklines of some sort to load quickly on a secure server without making me want to tear my hair out?
2a.) Does anyone have any experience using the ASP.NET Chart Library? Is this something I should investigate?
2b.) A co-worker suggested I make my own sparkline routine using a 1x1 CSS background image and varying the height. The problems are a) it is completely un-extensible in case we want to make changes; b) it seems hacky as hell (leaves about a bajillion DIVs per sparkline in the markup); and c) I have no idea if it will be fast enough when there are 100-200 of them on one page - what are your thoughts on the feasibility of the 1x1 sprite approach?

IIS Configuration :: Website Working Fine On Local But Does Not Work On Server
Jan 4, 2013In my site on every load some session is made through url and single page(say xyz.aspx) is call every time and on the basis of url we create session. When i click on a href tag , page start reloading ,url we created is accurate but data doesn't change every time, means some time it show data on first click, but some time after 3 or 4 click.
I say problem is weird because when i run this on my local server there is no problem, when i run this on my project (visual studio) there is no problem , but when i up this project on my online server it show this kind of error but not every time .
I use data caching to fill dataset. There is no problem in this website since we created this (more than 1 year) and we don't made any change on this page but suddenly it starts showing this kind of error so what kind of error this is.

C# - UrlMapping Giving 404 Page Not Found On IIS But Working Fine On Local Server Port?
Jan 19, 2010Well I am having a problem when I have put my .NET 2.0 web site on IIS 6. I have used UrlMapping to redirect some old urls. It is working fine when I am using it on the VS local server port but when I deploy it to IIS 6, its giving a 404 Page not found error.
I've found that in a few forums they are talking about using Wildcard Mapping, but none of them provide me with a good explanation of how to achieve this. Added to this, what are the security risks of doing such a modification on IIS Level (if there are any?)

The look of the web application was changed and doesn't look as it need to be in IE7. And one more issue is I will be using PopUp windows in the page. When I try to open the PopUp window they were not getting opened. I have checked if the PopUp blocker was blocked, the pop up blocker settings was Okay.. I have cross checked the code it was fine.

AJAX :: AsyncFileUpload Working Locally, But Not On IIS 6
Feb 3, 2010I have built a custom Ajax User Control which uses the AsyncFileUpload control released with the latest Ajax Toolkit.
On my local machine the application works fine without error, however if I deploy the app onto my web server the functionality breaks.
I am trying to add a file via the AsyncFileUpload control, save it to the web server, then save some details into a datatable which is displayed in a gridview. All of this sits in an update panel.
When uploading small files (under 55kbs) the process works fine, however when uploading larger files, it doesn't like it. The control uploads the file successfully to it (the client error is not triggered), but it breaks when I try to save it to the web server. Upon saving, the document saves OK, but all the data is stripped away. It just saves the filename with no content. It looks like the AsyncFileUpload control has lost the File in session, therefore cannot save it. However the AsysncFileUpload.filename still exists and AsyncFileUpload.HasFile is returning true.
Has anyone seen anything like this before or have any ideas why this could be happening? I have set the web config httpRuntime maxRequestLength = 20480, so it shouldnt be that.
