I have to access the parent form's controls inside an event handler method on my user control's code behind.
View 4 Repliesi m facing a issue in my code i m calling a user control which is in master page, and in row databound i m calling it and it is working fine but on select index change of checkbox it is not working

I hava a page default.aspx having master page abc.aspx and web user control login.ascx i want to call perform simple alert function on login button but not on client click event. For e.g
Protected Sub BtnMyIpLogin_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnMyIpLig.Click
'Some Validation part here for user login
'then my if condition like
If flag_alert = 0 Then Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "btnflag", "alert('Your Download / View Limit Exceed More Than 90%');", True) End If
but it is not working.........................
I have an ASP.NET 4.0 application with some simple user controls. The user controls work fine on the design surface (VS.NET 2010), but when they're loaded during application execution, nothing shows up.
Futhermore, the various child controls of the user controls are null when referenced inside the code behind for the user control.
The code behind for the user control executes as expected, but any reference to child controls are null.
It's like ASP.NET is never parsing the ASCX to create the instances of the child controls.
My hosting service is all messed up and my application keeps recycling. I am not able to figure out why my application is recycling. I am told that my application is using more than 100MB allocated memory but I just do not see what is wrong or how much is the optimized memory is required for my application. So in my master page I am trying to capture if one of the session variables is null and redirect to login page in the master page.in my master page I have the following code:
if ((Request.Cookies["UserID"] != null)&&(Session["UserID"]!=null))
{
do something;
[code]...
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. referring to the session["UserID"] being null in the page where I thought the master page will handle the null value for the session before the page!
I Have Register Two Control In My Page .. There Is Some Of Validation In My Aspx Page And Validation In User Control . I Was Give Same Name Of Validation Group Same In User Control And Aspx Page Control. But I Post Page Then User Control Validation Not Working..
View 1 RepliesDear friends, i'm working on user controls and events inside user control doesn't work for me.. my development process stuck due to this.
User control has a gridview which has rowcommands.
I have three modal popups that are working properly because I test it the controls with simple plain text.
I placed a form view and a datalist in the first two modal popups and everything seems to be okay.
I need to place a user control in the third modal popup but everytime I place the user control I get a javascript error for that particular modal popup.
When I copy paste the same modal popup on a blank page and place the user control inside of the panel then the modal popup works perfectly fine.
I basically copy/paste the same code back where the other two modal popups are then I get the same JavaScript error.
The modal popup crashes first on:
this._popupElement.parentNode.appendChild(this._foregroundElement);
I've set up a CustomValidator with a ClientValidationFunction as:
<asp:CustomValidator ID="CustomValidator1" runat="server" Display="Dynamic" EnableClientScript="true" ClientValidationFunction="checkClients" ErrorMessage="You must select at least one client or staff" SetFocusOnError="true"></asp:CustomValidator>
<script type="text/javascript">
function checkClients(sender, args) {

I am fixing issues in a project where I was not able to figure out a solution for the below problem. There are multiple user controls in Main.aspx page. First one is header.ascx which is added directly in .aspx page. and the others are added dynamically from Page_Init event. Basing on the hyperlink clicked from the menu on the left side of the main page, the respective user control is displayed.
Now, If I try to add script-manager/update panel inside any of the dynamic user controls, the respective user control page throws error. I have noticed that the header.ascx control is using scriptmanager. Is it creating the problem? How to handle this kind of issue?
In my Website I have header control (header.ascx) and footer control (footer.ascx).In header.ascx one textbox and one button is there. Textbox meant for accepting search string.
In footer.ascx one textbox and one button is there. Textbox meant for accepting Email-Id.
Now in validation of header.ascx I had done blank checking by JavaScript. And in validation of footer.ascx I had done blank-checking and e-mail checking by javascript.
In both the control the textbox and the button both resides under Panel control whose
DefaultButton property set to the respective button ids. So that if User write write something and press ENTER key from keyboard then it should do whatever respective Button_Clicks will do.
Now My problem is suppose I place the mouse cursor in footer.ascx's textbox and press the ENTER key it validates properly but after that if I place the cursor inheader.ascx's textbox and press the ENTER then it is not working. Again If I do the opposite then also first one will fire but in case of second it is not firing .......
I am facing an interesting issue related to user control validation. I have a strongly typed user control with address entity. I have also created the address entity metadata class with validation definitions. This user control is basically to search and get the address based on the pincode user input. Pincode field is part of the user control and I have defined the required field and regexp validator for pincode field in the address metatdata class.
Now the user control is partially rendered in the customer page where I want to validate the pincode field in the customer page when the user clicks the search button in the user control.But the strange thing is the validation is not working as expected when I click the search button but when I bind the form collection to the entity using update module, I am getting an error. Can anyone help me what all I need to consider in the control ascx page and in the customer aspx page and in the controller?
(The following is a complete re-edit of the original post which was rambling, confusing etc...)
I have a form with a dynamically generated checklist:
<asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblGames" runat="server" DataSourceID="sqlGames" DataTextField="Game" DataValueField="Id" </asp:CheckBoxList>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlGames" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Games %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [Id], [Game], [ShowWaitingList] FROM [Aanbod] WHERE ([ShowWaitingList] = @ShowWaitingList)">
<SelectParameters><asp:Parameter DefaultValue="true" Name="ShowWaitingList" Type="Boolean" /></SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
The following code-behind is supposed to check those boxes that correspond to values stored in a database. It fails and I don't know why.

I have a c# control class inside of a dll, then this control is embedded in a web page in an asp.net application by using the object tag. When the dll is compiled with .net 3.5 sp1 and the web application also runs in .net 3.5 sp1, the code works fine. But when the dll is compiled in .net 4.0 and the web application runs in 4.0, the control does not show up in the web page. All I see is a box with an object icon in the upper left corner.
View 1 RepliesAutocompleteextender not working inside an user control tried all ways. i have a custom function.. inside the cs file itself like the following :-
[Code]....
I did something like this and it worked properly when it was in aspx but when i changed all this to ascx and when i added the user control in aspx the autocomplete is not working. say enablecontext = false; i have even tried that.. its not even reaching till that function. moreover i need contextkey to validate different autocomplete controls inside my page.
I have an AJAX enabled ASP.Net 3.5 app in which I have:
A Master PageA Web Content PageA User ControlMore precisely, there's a Placeholder control in the Web Content Page into which one of many User Controls are loaded (one at a time or none at all).
The basic User Control I'm working with has a bunch of Labels and one DropDown ListBox. The latter control is a date selector - ie. June 2010, May 2010, April 2010, etc. When the user changes the date, since AutoPostBack = true for the control, a PostBack occurs. But when this happens, the User Control disappears!
All I want is for a partial postback to occur so that I can use the new date to repopulate the various Label controls. I even put the Placerholder control in its own UpdatePanel but this didn't resolve anything - the User Control still disappeared.
how do I add a web control with code?
The code I was testing is the following
[Code]....
The error I am getting is
Value of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Label' cannot be converted to 'System.Web.UI.Control'
I assume this is because it trying to put a htmlbutton where a web control should be.
How do i get this to work with asp controls.
How do i get it to work for a asp type label?
May i debug the User control code behind with break points iam not getting break point hit in User control is there any alternative to debug???
View 3 RepliesI have a user control called adminMenu and I use it in my index.aspx and all is fine, but I need to access a MenuItem in adminMenu and need to change NavigateUrl on the MenuItem. Tried this code with no luck:
MenuItem MaintenanceReports = this.adminMenu.FindItem("MaintenanceReports");
Not sure if I should be accessing adminMenu properties from controls code behind, but when I try from controls code behind was not able to access it either.
I've created my user control. In the page I've written my markup as follows:
<uc1:myUserControl id="myUserControl1" Enabled="true" runat="server" />
I cannot get the value Enabled="true" in the code behind during page load.
I have a usercontrol that uses a callback to update itself. If I add the control to the aspx page everything works fine. However, when i add the control using Page.LoadControl and Control.Add on a Placeholder i get the following error: "The target 'ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$ctl00' for the callback could not be found or did not implement ICallbackEventHandler". I tryed assigning the ID of the control also which failed with the same error. I am using asp.net 2.0.

I am using a Calendar Extendar with in a user control and I am loading this user control on a aspx page dynamically. But after a post back event I am getting following error: calendar extendar may not register after post back.
View 2 RepliesI created a user control, then use LoadControl to call the user control in a web form. Everything is working fine on my computer. When my work is copied to another developer's computer, the content of the user control does not show. All other pages are working fine.
The only difference I could think of between my computer and another computer is the other computer use ajax-created master page. But this web form that calls the user control does not use any master page.
