Way To Generate Links Automatically Via A Static Class
Jun 10, 2010
I would like to generate my links automatically via a static class in each of my aspx pages (or in a common BasePage).Currently I use this:
private const string TEMPLATE =
"~/One.aspx";
public static string Link ()
(
string link = String.Format(TEMPLATE);
return link;
)
But the name of my page, One.aspx is hardcoded. Is it possible to generate the path instead of this hardcoded constant TEMPLATE. You should know that I do not instantiate the class before creating the link.
I have created an extended method for DataTable. I want to generate a class automatically in my solution when i call that method while writing a code as Visual studio does when it doesnt find the method.e.g mytable.mymethod(); Generate a class
I have a private static field in my Controller class in an MVC web application.
I have a static method in that controller that assigns some value to that static field, I want to apply lock on that static field until some other instance method in the controller uses the value stored in the static field and then releases it.
DETAILS:
I have a controller named BaseController having a static ClientId field as follows and two methods as follows:-
public static string ClientId = ""; static void OnClientConnected(string clientId, ref Dictionary<string, object> list) { list.Add("a", "b"); // I want the ClientId to be locked here, so that it can not be accessed by other requests coming to the server and wait for ClientId to be released:- BaseController.clientId = clientId; } public ActionResult Handler() { if (something) { // use the static ClientId here } // Release the ClientId here, so it can now be used by other web requests coming to the server. return View(); }
I have a question about C Sharp ASP.NET:Is there a difference (in code speed, resources) between:public static variable declared in public static class MyGlobals in a 'Code File' template;and the variable declared in a normal 'Class File' template;I use this variable in 2 different Class Files and also in _Default Page codebehind cs file.In fact in my case I need about 20 global variables of type List<string>.
I'm using the above code to display database content on my website. The actual text on database is as follows.
<p>Forbury Investment Network (FIN) is a platform established to facilitate investment in early- and growth-stage companies in the technology sectors.</p> <p>FIN was established by <a title="Clarkslegal" href="http://www.clarkslegal.com/" target="_blank">Clarkslegal</a> and its subsidiary <a title="Forbury Environmental" href="http://www.forburyenvironmental.com/" target="_blank">Forbury Environmental</a>, after 3 years of managing The EIC Environmental Investment Network.</p>
I have a test site and live site on the same server. Links work fine on test server. But when i look at the page on live server it the links are al wrong. www. is missin from both links and [URL] has become [URL]
And it works like a charm with a little help from custom MvcHttpHandler that sets current thread's UI culture on every request based on route value. My problem is how do I automatically add the language route value from current request to all outgoing links? E.g. when page /EN/Foo/Bar is requested, I would like this
And of course the same for all other helpers like BeginForm() etc. In my current code base there are already > 1000 occasions where these helpers are used, and requiring .AddRouteValue every time is very fragile as some developer will forget to use it with 100 % certainty. I hope the only solution is not creating custom Html helpers for everything?
We are currently updating our policy page on our intranet. Currently the page is written in ASP and connects to an Excel spreadsheet that serves as an index, which contains policy name and number. We also have a directory that contains all of the policiesnamed the policy number. The control that is currently being used will get all of the policies listed in the index and create links for them. We do not have to manually create the hundreds of links we just update the index. Does anyone have an idea of a control or a way I can accomplish this in asp.net?
I would like to generate a static URL based on a few parameters.The page serve the file for downloading is called CertificateDownload.aspx ,I am generating the download link in Report.aspx.These 2 files reside on the same physical folder.I do not like the replace method ,but I could not think of another way of doing it.How can I improve my code or what is a better way of doing it.
I need the absolute url to be displayed as text in the web browser.
Dim downLoadUrl As String = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.ToString.Replace("Report.aspx", "CertificateDownload.aspx") + "?CertificateID=" + CertificateName HyperLinkDownloadLink.Visible = True HyperLinkDownloadLink.Text = downLoadUrl HyperLinkDownloadLink.NavigateUrl = downLoadUrl
I want to know which code or technique is used to write the code written below in url which is "3rhgf6v4zbos16x" what is this and how it can be generated in asp.net?

I have a small web application based on asp.net 2010 that manages invoices.
After the invoice is saved, it should automatically generate a pdf file.
which of the following solutions would be fast and easy to incorporate?
Use Sql Server 2008 Reports Use Crystal Reports 2008 and Crystal Reports 2008 for VS 2010 Use itextsharp to create the pdf file Use XSLFO to create the pdf file
The point here is I dont know any of the above. Which one is easy and quick to learn and implement. Are there any other solution to achieve this functionality?
i want to automatically generate a unique string as orderID. I dont want to use Guid, it is not user frindly, and i dont want to use indexer either. any build-in datatype i can use?
I'm building an HTML5 application (with ASP.NET back-end) and i want to develop it in such a way that i can run it locally with all my resources (such js and css) not minified (so i can debug it easily). However when i build the final version i want merge and minify the resources. At the same time i want to create several versions of the app targeting different platforms (iPhone, iPad, desktop, etc) by adding appropriate css.
I thought that the final output should be a set of html files (so the get cached nicely). I could use ASPX and just control the output by a query string parameter, but i don't really want to have the form tag on my page.
So the questions are:
What are the pros and cons of using static html pages generated from a template versus a dynamic ASPX page? (apart from being able to run on any web server) If ASPX approach good enough then how can i get rid of the form tag that's required by ASP.NET?
UDPATE
Another factor in favor of static html pages is the fact that the files are served instantly, whereas ASPX may take awhile to load if the app has recycled.
s there any code to generate property automatically from datatable?I mean there is a table A with column id,name,address.Run the code and this will generate a class automatically to set and get property.Property of that class will be the column name of the datable A.
I use Linq to Sql (although this is equally applicable in Entity Framework) for my models, and I'm finding myself creating buddy classes for my models all the time. I find this time consuming and repetitive. Is there an easy way to automatically generate these buddy classes based on the models? Perhaps a visual studio macro?
[MetadataType(typeof(PersonMetadata))] public partial class Person { } public class PersonMetadata { public object Id { get; set; }
I have a GridView and a SqlDataSource, which I have set to automatically generate Delete/Insert/Update statements. I then just enabled Deleting on the GridView, and usually away I'd go. For some reason though, the row is not being deleted - the page is posting back but the row is still there. When Delete is clicked, RowDeleting does fire though. What possible causes could this be?
Edit: SELECT command: SELECT id, templatename, CASE WHEN type = 'W' THEN 'Weekly' WHEN type = 'M' THEN 'Monthly' WHEN type = 'Q' THEN 'Quarterly' WHEN type = 'S' THEN 'Six-monthly' WHEN type = 'A' THEN 'Anually' END AS TypeText, CASE WHEN invorcred = 'I' THEN 'Invoice' WHEN invorcred = 'C' THEN 'Credit' END AS 'InvOrCredText', nextinvdate, lastinvdate FROM InvoiceTemplates WHERE (sageaccount = @sageaccount)
I have a webforms (framework 3.5) site with a TON of dynamic content. Depending on the url, one or many content items will be sent to the client. I need a way to generate meta keywords for SEO based on the contents of the page (or part of the page, if possible).
I've done a little research and am not really turning up anything that addresses my problem directly. I have, on the other hand, found some interesting stuff that might get me there with considerable work. One idea I have is to intercept the response buffer at Application_BeginRequest (global.asax), parse out some meaningful keywords, and inject them back into the response buffer. However, this seems like a pretty expensive process and I don't even know if it's possible. I also feel like there could be a way to do this with an HttpModule.
I'm interested in what the community has to say about this. Is there already an existing and accepted way to do this that I'm just missing.
I'm using the following codeproject to build an asp.net website and so far everything is good. My only problem is after the barcode is generated, a huge whitespace exist to the right of the barcode. I've been playing with this and am unable to resolve it. Details below:

cancel plane ticket before 4 hours of departure time if dep time is 08:00:00 AM then Passengers can cancel ticket till 04:00:00 AM? I have two textboxes textbox1 and textbox2 in asp.net(vb) webform I want If in textbox1 the time would be appear as 08:20:20 AM Then in textbox2 the time would be automatically generated 4 hours before as compared to textbox1 i.e ( the time in textbox2 the time would be appear as 04:20:21 AM ) Means simply logic i want ... if the time in Textbox1 is 08:00:05 PM then autogenerated time in textbox2 will be 04:00:06 PM Means whatever the time in Textbox1 the textbox 2 will autogenerate time in 4 hours time slot.
If a static class is put in App_Code, does that imply only one instance will be created, shared by different http requests?Or each request still brings one request?
How to generate a employee code in textbox automatically while in run time in web application.......when i run the page it will check the employee code in the database and it automatically shows the next value in the textbox how?
is it ok to use something like this in the web: (my application is on asp.net mvc)
public static class DbUtil { public static int Insert(object o, string cs) { using (var conn = new SqlConnection(cs)) using (var cmd = conn.CreateCommand()) { conn.Open(); return Convert.ToInt32(cmd.ExecuteScalar());
So i have some existing functionality from an older ASP.Net app that is a static class.
Say there's a static method in that class that returns a dataset that I would like to bind to something like a gridview or whatever I can build using MVC3.
