I have also implimented a Export to Excel function. The Export to Excel works by itself if the Search in Grid function is not included in the footer.The Export to Excel function errors when trying to render the Grid for the export. Is there a better way to incorporate both functions and accomplish the same thing? Am I missing something simple?

Export GridView To Excel Without Losing Grid Lines In Excel?
Mar 4, 2010I have a GridView that I want to export to Excel. When I use the sample code I find online, it exports the content to Excel just fine, but for some reason it also clears out all grid lines outside of my exported table.
For your average excel user this is easy enough to fix, but I need this solution to work for everyone.
So then is there a way to export the data in a GridView into an Excel Workbook so that it looks like it was just typed into Excel? I've pasted the code I am using below, assume that a GridView called toPrint exists and has accurate data.

EDIT: Found one partial solution. If I export as a comma-delimited list and set the header to be a CSV file, it opens fine and all grid lines (even those outside of the exported data) are showing. The only problem with this of course is having to strip out every comma and newline character from my values before exporting them.

Dec 14, 2010I have an some code to export data form an SQL database to an Excel spread sheet. the data is entered via a web site and some of it contains multiple lines of information. I need to preserve the multiple lines but excel 2007 continues to put an [?] at the end of each line.Here's what I got so far
CellValue.ToString() // this returns [?][?] at the end of each line for excel 2007
// and a single [?] in excel 2010
CellValue.Replace("[//r]","") // this works correctly for 2010 but still leaves a [?] for 2007
Cellvalue.Replace(Environment.NewLine, "") // this removes all the line breaks.
what can I replace the Environment.NewLine with in order to still have line breaks in both excel 2007 and 2010 (with no [?]) ?

When I'm about to export this to Excel, I'm replacing the <br> with "
", the resulting cell in Excel appear in one line with spaces where I replaced <br> with "
". I also tried "< br>" as many suggested while I was looking for a fix but just didnt help.
I'm looking for a result some thing like this within a cell with multiple lines.

Nov 23, 2010I am trying to export just a table that is contained on my page. I have some filters above it but when exporting, all the text and filters are copied into this file.
This is the code:

a.displayTable() is the object containing the table, but the filters are defined on the .aspx so there is no way the command take it. Is there anything I am doing wrong?
