Could Not Load Type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpHandler' Version Conflict With WCF REST
Jan 6, 2011
I've run into a problem with WCF REST Service. I get:
Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpHandler' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.
when running inside of the IIS in an ASP.NET 4.0 AppPool.
The problem seems to occur only if:Running inside of IIS
When ASP.NET Comaptibility is enabled
Running in Cassini - no problem it works properly. Running with ASP.NET compatibility off - no problem it works.
It appears that it's some sort of handler version conflict trying to instantiate the wrong version of the handler that in turn tries to load an older version of System.ServiceModel, but I haven't been able to trace this down.
Anybody seen anything like this before and have any ideas how to track this down further?
I've looked in ApplicationHost.config and the master web.config files for System.ServiceModel and HttpHandler references but no luck.
the purpose of this HttpModule? It's showing up on my HttpModuleCollection list, but I don't know what's it's for.System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule

i get the following error when trying to compile my asp.net site after updating the project from vs2008 to vs2010The type or namespace name 'Syndication' does not exist in the namespace 'System.ServiceModel' (are you missing an assembly reference?)I have the asp.net site targeting 3.5 framework (as it did in vs2008)I also added a reference to System.ServiceModel.Web
Under Visual Studio it's working fine but, when I try to publish on IIS it doesn't works. This is the situation: under my Website I created a Upload.vb class under App_Code folder that implements IHttpHandler, IRequiresSessionState.

All my web applications are using AjaxControlToolkit 1.0 version. But I have one third party website that is using AjaxControlToolkit 3.5. When I run that third party website I got the following error.

I had web application developed in VS 2005 + Sql server 2005 + Ajax 1.0 Extension . (Developed in Windows Server 2005) Now i am migrating to VS 2008.(Windows Server 2008 + Sql server 2008)
After opening and compile my Existing application in VS 2008,i am getting error.
Errors :-
Unable to load file or assembly 'System.web.Extenstions'' version=1.0.61025. (I think it because of AJAX Extension version. So i installed AJAX Extension 1.0 but it will give me ambiguous error so i uninstalled.I am added reference for version=3.5.0 but again unsuccessful.) What i will do now? Also i used 'Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum', Version=9.0.242.0 in VS 2005. (Are i have to change it to version=10.0.0.0? by adding reference to new version.) I also used crystal report.(Is there is anything to do with it?)
I am developing an ASP.NET server control that uses jQuery for some client side logic. I have embedded the jQuery file as a resource inside the control. don't want to restrict the application using the control to that specific version of jQuery and I want to keep using the version of jQuery that I have embedded.I know about the noconflict method but the problem that i see with that is that i have no control over the order of the script tags on the pag
I'm working on my ASP Application 2.0 framework with AJAX Extension 1.0 installed on my pc. I'm getting an error on my CrystalReportViewer:Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. I want to develop my own REST service, so I've created an IHttpHandler that is configured with verb="*" and path="*", the the application in ~/MyRESTsrv/ will handle any derived URL.
This approach works good in IIS7 with "integrated mode" and apparently in IIS6 if you map all the extensions to "aspnet_isapi.dll".
Is this possible in Apache/XSP with Mono? Do I have to do something special or it will work out of the box?
and get a System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException
when I use 10 threads to communicate to it (without any sleep in between) - basically testing 10 conenctions at a time - through a windows application
An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://localhost/XXX/XXXService.asmx. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details. Why would this happen and how to best resolve it Also is this the way how asp.net application will interact with it too - is threading the best way to do the load testing
I just deployed a test MVC2 application to a shared host and get the error Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.UrlParameter' when firing up the application. This is a bin readable application as my hosting provider does not yet have MVC2 installed, however, they assure me this should run OK. Also this is a barebones application, basically the default project structure published for testing purposes.Any suggestions as to resolving this?
I am using Toolkit ScriptManager and Accordion and am getting this error.Could not load type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptReferenceBase' from assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'.
This started as Could not load type 'Global' error. After I tried a few things and getting no where I deleted the Global.asax file and now the error is Could not load type '[namespace].???'Where ??? is the class name of every page I try to load. The web site (when executed within VS2008, local dev computer) works fine but once published (with no errors) and deployed to the server gives me Could not load type '[namespace].???' error
I did install elmah and I was able to get more details for this "generic" Could not load type '[namespace].???' error

I have checked the "basics"

UPDATE #1 I did deploy the site to a different DEV computer (configured IIS, virtual folder, etc.) and it works. When I use the same published code on the server, get the generic Could not load type '[namespace].???' error
UPDATE #2 I created a test web app. One form (Default.aspx) with a button. The click event does a Response.Write("Hello World"); I moved this app to the server and guess what, I get the Could not load type TestSite._Default
UPDATE #3 According to the fusion log viewer, these two websites are attempting to load CppCodeProvider and VJSharpCodeProvider, but I have no references to any of these. After a Google search, I found this post.I checked and I have no references to JAVA files.
