How To Get The Value Of A Parameter Passed To A Method In A Custom Rule In FxCop
Aug 16, 2010
Due to certain reasons, in our ASP.NET web application, it is not recommended to use Response.Redirect("something", True). It should be used with False for the endResponse parameter. We want to enforce this with a custom FxCop rule. I've managed to find the usages of Response.Redirect, but now I want to find the value of the endResponse argument. How can I do this?
We're using the following code:
[Code]....
I've used Introspector and thought the endResponse parameter was an integer behind the scenes, but I'm not so sure anymore. Anyway, there don't seem to be any booleans in the methodCall.Operands.
need to check the actual value of a parameter that's passed to a method?
I have several custom classes that derive from a common base class so they share several members in common. I would like to be able to pass objecs from any of these three classes to a function that will "look at" common properties. However, it seems there is a catch 22 -- When I try to access a member (.FirstName) of the passed object, the computer reports an error that it thinks the member doesn't exist.
It seems to be a sort of contradiction -- since I didn't declare the type, the computer can't confirm existence, but it seems that it should have to take it on faith since the generic character of the type is specified by the code. Possibly there is something I don't know about that would fix this. I'm showing VB code for what I have so far. I went ahead and hardcoded an instance to confirm that the object exists and has the needed property. I commented out the line that had the code that resulted in the computer reporting an error.
I am trying to use the Slideshowexternder control with a contextKey that I've set from a query string. I set the contextKey in the default.aspx.vb Page_Load as I've read in other posts, but I am still getting an error:
The server method 'GetSlides' failed with the following error: System.InvalidOperationException -- Invalid webservice call, missing vaule for parameter: 'ContextKey'
so in this line i am passing "ss".but in my controller i didnot get the value in a parameter variable, instead i am getting ss as parameter, not the selected ids.how can i do that.
I have a SQLDataSource control that is calling a database stored procedure, and passing quite a large number of paramaters, and the stored proc returns records that populates a gridview control. When I walk through the code behind to determine the values being passed, is there any way that I can see exactly how the parameters are being formated and passed to the stored proc?
Was looking at asp.net mvc complex routing for tree path as an example of how to define a custom route handler for my MVC app. Essentially, I want to give the end user ultimate flexibility in defining the URL for any given page, so I provide them with a field in the interface to specify their own custom URL.
My custom route handler is basically a wild-card handler. It will do a lookup and if it finds a match, map it accordingly. However, if no match is found, I want it to fall back and find the next rule that matches in the global.asax. Is that possible? Or do I essentially need to code the mappings that used to exist in my global.asax into my custom route handler?
Assuming a static method like below is called from ASP.NET page, can a different thread(b) overwrite the value of s1 after the first line is executed by thread(a)?If so, can assigning parameters to local variables before manipulation solve this?
Working through the tutorial http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/iteration-1-create-the-application-vbI am unable to delete anything as that method is not passing an object to the Delete POST function.Or more specifically, the object is nothing.Stepping through the GET method I get a bizzare 'There is no code after this point' after Return View(objectToDelete)The LINQ query for the GET method is the same as that for the Edit method but that is working fine.
I have comma separated data on client side [Since my columns and rows are dynamic along with dynamic control inside it which are not accessible in backend due to viewstate issue of dynamic controls],
So I am passing CSV string to Web Method as and want to get Excel file out of it.
I tried following code but it is not exporting the file.
I am creating a custom control by inheriting a server control, say LinkButton. There are properties like "BorderColor" available in LinkButton. Let's say, I don't want this particular property to be available when I create an instance of the custom control.
I want to completely hide this particular property (I don't want to override it but disable it.)
I have created my own custom role provider class "SGI_RoleProvider" and configured properly.
Everything is working fine.
Suppose that I have added a public method say "SayHello()", then how can i call that. Because if i am using Roles then the method is not displayed. If i am forcefully using that Roles.SayHello() then compiler gives the error.
how can i call this. Because creating a new instance of SGI_RoleProvider is meaningless.
I have created a custom control as can be seen below. this custom control will be used by alot of web form. The question is how to override CheckAllData method in each webform, so i can write my own checking in each webform.
I've just noticed I'm repeating a lot of C# code in my ASP.NET application so want to create a generic method. I have a series of private methods like this:
[Code]....
So, I want to replace DB.MyRepeatedCall, chtMyRepeatedChart and pass them in as parameters to a generic function. Is that possible? I have many charts on my form that take the same number of parameters.
Secondly, how does ASP.NET MVC know that action is my action, and controller is my controller. Like I saw this in samples, and it does work, but isn't it just an anonymous object with no type?
I have a list of methods I wish to call and a button accompaning each and a generic method to handle the buttons.Using the commandArgument how can I run the selected method.E.g. Click run method1 button. In handler for button click call the method as named in commandArgument
I'm trying to build my first MVC site and also write unit test for the first time. I can't figure how to write unit test for methods that take parameters. How do I write a test method for this controller action?
In one of the methods I'm using in my MVC app, there's a param that accepts a list collection of strings. If I have a string parameter, I can give it a default value of an empty string, but I cannot seem to give the list collection a default value of a new, empty list collection. I get the error that's beginning to seriously grate on my nerves about requiring a compile-time constant. getting the generic list to work with a default empty set?
I'm binding an object to a gridview. The object (LeClient) consists of several variables, two of which are related to its phone number. One variable contains a string of digits (LePhone) and the other contains an int that represents the country code (LeCountryCode). I have an extension method for strings that works to format the string LePhone and that I'd like to pass it LeCountryCode as the parameter.
So far, on RowDataBound I have an event handler with the following line:
I'd like to replace the 1 with the corresponding country code that's stored in the object LeClient associated with the row. How does this work? I tried
I am creating custom server control. I have two classes in project. One is main class that render control and another will be used to render content based on condition.I just want to know how to render content from other classes in main class. For example. This isjust an example. My main class code

When I run the page, Header title always getting null. This is a just sample code. I will have more than 20 classes so I dont want to write a code in main class to render whole control.I hope all of you understand my problem.
I'm sure question's similar to this have been asked before, but I looked all over the net, and couldn't find anything that helped me with this situation.I have a asp.net ajax webservice that is called with jQuery, its been returning the error message that I wrote in the subject of this post. This is what I have on the page other then the jQuery: A ScriptManager with a ServiceReferance to the asmx page (other then that I also have a url locator in the jQuery ajax request code). A UpdatePanel that contains a div where the processed/formatted resul
