AJAX :: ContextKey Parameter Not Getting Passed To Web Service?

Jul 1, 2010

I am trying to use the Slideshowexternder control with a contextKey that I've set from a query string. I set the contextKey in the default.aspx.vb Page_Load as I've read in other posts, but I am still getting an error:

The server method 'GetSlides' failed with the following error: System.InvalidOperationException -- Invalid webservice call, missing vaule for parameter: 'ContextKey'

Getting The Parameter Values Being Passed To SQL Database Via SQLDataSource Control

I have a SQLDataSource control that is calling a database stored procedure, and passing quite a large number of paramaters, and the stored proc returns records that populates a gridview control. When I walk through the code behind to determine the values being passed, is there any way that I can see exactly how the parameters are being formated and passed to the stored proc?

How To Get The Value Of A Parameter Passed To A Method In A Custom Rule In FxCop

Aug 16, 2010

Due to certain reasons, in our ASP.NET web application, it is not recommended to use Response.Redirect("something", True). It should be used with False for the endResponse parameter. We want to enforce this with a custom FxCop rule. I've managed to find the usages of Response.Redirect, but now I want to find the value of the endResponse argument. How can I do this?

We're using the following code:

[Code]....

I've used Introspector and thought the endResponse parameter was an integer behind the scenes, but I'm not so sure anymore. Anyway, there don't seem to be any booleans in the methodCall.Operands.

need to check the actual value of a parameter that's passed to a method?

AJAX :: Invalid Web Service Call, Missing Value For Parameter?

Mar 2, 2010

In a web page, I call a web service (located in the sub folder WebServices) with ajax asp.netHere my aspx code:

[Code]....

My web site uses integrated windows authentication and all works fine.However, my web service doesn't need authentication and in order to not have 2 requests (because of http code 401), I've allowed anonymous access on the WebServices folder. Doing this, I get the folowing error message when I call a web method: "Invalid web service call, missing value for parameter: user"When I look at my body request with Web Development Helper, I can see {"user":"toto"}. So, I don't understand why it's not working.Another weird thing: when I run Fiddler2 instead of Web Development Helper, every thing works fine. I turn off Fiddler2, and it doesn't work any more.

AJAX :: Update SlideShowExtender's ContextKey Without Postback?

Mar 28, 2010

I have been struggled for a day without success. Also I am not sure is this possible, since I am not too familiar with Javascript. let me know is there a way to fix my problem. Here is my problem:

What I have is a datalist and at each row it contain an UpdatePanel and inside the UpdatePanel there are a button, a slideShowExtender with related controls and a hiddenField. The hiddenField stored a second contextKey value. At page load time the default contextkey already assigned to the slideShowExtender. What I want to achieve is when user clicked the button the slideShowExtender will switch the Contextkey with the hiddenField value so that the SlideShowExtender will display a new set of images.

So far I can make everything work as I want with server side function, which executed when the button onclick. However this will generate a whole page post back, which I want to avoid. So I was thinking of using client side Javascript to do the contextkey assign and then update the updatePanel, but I am not too familiar with Javascript so I can't get it working :(

Here is my current code:

AJAX :: Refresh Slideshow Extender With New Contextkey Without Postback

Apr 8, 2010

I have a slideshow extender, I will change the slideshow extender's contextkey value by a button click event. So that after button click the slideshow will display different set of image. Originally with postback everything work fine, but I don't want the whole page to refresh.

So I put the slideshow extender inside an updatepanel with triggers target the button click event. Now the whole page didn't refresh and the slideshow extender's contextkey value did change (same code as before) after button click event. However the image set on the slideshow didn't change.

I think I am missing some sort of slideshow extender reload or refresh call but I am not sure how to do this? I didn't see any related property with slideshow extender...

Long Text Is Truncated When Passed To Web Service

Jan 20, 2011

I have got an external application(Serena Business Mashups), SBM is a business management tool and we are using as a defect tracker.

it has got a web service to do database operations.

I need to update a field on this system using their web service, the data I need to update is a long(110000 chars) string.

so when I invoke the update method, the data gets updated but it is truncated. I have pasted my web config setting below. So is there a limitation which I do not know?

HTTP Connection Be Passed From IIS / ASP To Another Application Or Service?

Dec 20, 2010

I'm looking into building an ASP.NET MVC application that exposes (other than the usual HTML pages) JSON and XML REST services, as well as Web Sockets. In a perfect world, I would be able to use the same URLs for the Web Sockets interface as I do for the other services (and determine which data to return by what the user agent requests) but, knowing that IIS wasn't built for persistent connections, I need to know if there's a way that I can accept (and possibly even handshake) the Web Sockets connection and then pass the connection off to another service running on the server. I do have a workaround in mind if this isn't possible that basically involves using ASP.NET to check for the Web Sockets connection upgrade headers, and responding with a HTTP/1.1 302 Found that points to a different host that has my Web Sockets service configured to directly listen to the appopriate endpoint(s).

AJAX :: Cascading Drop Downs - Pre-Select Items (contextkey)

Jul 14, 2010

I have a problem with 3 cascading drop downs. They are on a content page, so I have a Master Page as well. They work just fine but once the user saves the data and then comes back to the same page, I would like to show them what was previously saved. How can I pre-select items in the drop downs that I get from my SQL server db? I tried jquery, javascript, vb code behind and no luck so far. I'm sure i'm doing something wrong. Here is my code:

I've been trying to send my webservice a contextkey for the first drop down. When I debug the webservice, and I manually enter a context key, i get the correct values back with the value that equals my context key having <isDefaultValue>True</isDefaultValue>.

Get The Parameter Values From A Web Service?

Mar 1, 2011

I have a web service (an ASP.NET .asmx page), and for debugging purposes I need to log all calls to the webservice, including values of all parameters passed into each call. So basically the first thing each WebMethod should do is log it's state with details of all the parameter values passed in to it.

So far so good. The complication is that I also want an automated way of getting the parameter values - there's quite a few webmethods with different signatures, and some of them have up to ~30 parameters, so manually coding against each specific parameter would likely be massively error-prone. I'd rather be able to call a method that looks at the current Http context and automatically uses that to grab and parse whatever has been passed in by the client.

But I hit a snag. When I look at HttpContext.Current.Request, it turns out that both the Form and QueryString collections are empty.

Missing Parameter In Web Service

May 20, 2014

'm having some difficulties to consume a Web Service in VBScript. Everytime I try to run it presents some error (Missing parameters / Internal server error / Status 500). I don't know what can be wrong.

AJAX :: Accordion Pane TextBox Text Not Being Passed Into Variable String?

Jun 9, 2010

I would think that this would work pretty seamlessly, but I am having trouble getting the text from a textBox control in an accordion pane's content to pass into the paypal web payments https post.

If I put an amount in the querystring in my codebehind isntead of passing the text string and click the button in the accordion pane, it works perfectly on the paypal page. But for some reason, I am getting a null return in the text string when I try to make the amount in the querystring whatever the text in the textbox is.

I have tried putting the accordion in an update panel and got the same results....

Am I missing something the get the text from the textbox?

Here is my accordian pane:

<cc1:AccordionPane ID="AccordionPane1" runat="server">
<Header>
<a href="" onclick="return false;" style="color:#FFFFFF; font-weight:bold;">Donor</a>
</Header>
<Content>
<b>$150-299</b>
<asp:BulletedList ID="BulletedList2" runat="server" Font-Size="Small">
<asp:ListItem>Program Listing</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem>10% Off other productions</asp:ListItem>
</asp:BulletedList>
<div style="text-align:center;">
<asp:TextBox ID="donorAmt" runat="server" Width="100" Height="15px"></asp:TextBox> <asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" Text="Make Payment Online" OnClick="LinkButton1_Click" />
<cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender ID="TextBoxWatermarkExtender1" runat="server" TargetControlID="donorAmt" WatermarkText="Your Amount" WatermarkCssClass="accTextWM" />
</div>
</Content>
</cc1:AccordionPane>

Here is how I am getting the text string in codeBehind:

Protected Sub LinkButton1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Dim amt As String = donorAmt.Text
Response.Redirect("https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=XXXXXX@XXXXX.org&amount=" & amt & "&no_note=0&item_name=ALT Donor Level Annual Membership&sra=1&notify_url=http://XXXXX.com/IPN.aspx&no_shipping=0&return=http://www.XXXXXX.com/donate/thanks.aspx&rm=2")
End Sub

Receive Xml File As A Parameter To A .net Web Service

Feb 8, 2010

My company is currently looking into bringing a new piece of third party software in for online ordering. The software does not handle pricing so they are requesting the pricing information from a web service. Their software is passing an XML file as a parameter, and expecting an XML file as a response. I would think that returning an XML file would be pretty straight forward, but I cannot think of a way to receive an XML file as a parameter.
