View 1 RepliesI want to be able specify to do the following: Specify configuration settings such as appSettings and connectionStrings for multiple web apps in IIS7 No editing Machine.config or the machine-level web.config Web apps are distinct web sites in IIS (not subfolder apps) Is this possible without just duplicating the configs for each app?

View 3 RepliesI am trying to implement forms authentication in my application. It has a folder named
User and an .aspx Page named Welcome.aspx. I am trying to restrict Access to this page by directly typing address in the browser. For this I have done following setting in web.config:
<location path="User">
<system.web>
<authentication
mode="Forms">
<forms
loginUrl="Login.aspx"
name=".ASPXFORMSAUTH"></forms>
</authentication>
<authorization>
<deny
users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
It works fine for the first time and redirects to Login page when I type the URL directly in browser. But when I press back button in browser and again try to redirect, this time it redirects to Welcome.aspx. How can I avoid such a situation (Don;t want to disable back button). Also If i try to Set Location Path="User", it gices error i.e. I am not able to set folder level security
Following is my directory structure of my web application which is also configured in IIS as virtual directory
Web Site Root
|MasterPage (file)
|Web Config (file)
|Public Contents (directory)
|ShowNewWallpapers.aspx
|Admin (directory)
| Login.aspx
|WebSiteStat.aspx
|WebConfig file (need form security here)
How is configure my both web configs to solve my issue. currently i am getting following error
It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
my root web config has default settings and my Admin directory has following settings
<system.web>
When i disable cookie at browser level will 'Form authentication' still work ?.If not,What is the alternative that enables the 'From Authentication' ?

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException : Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication.
this database is using windows authentication. sqlserver 2008.

I have to handle error related to web application. I am not sure how its works. I am thinking that I will add an error page (error.aspx) and in global.asax ,application_onError, I will redirecting the user to error page and that should be enough ! i mean it will handle error automatically.

2. I have PC, on which file to copy to device is located, with Active Sync installed and IE running which has a page in that IE has rendered by server #1.
3. I have a DEVICE connected to desktop #2 via AS.
I would like to copy file from a local machine to the device which is connected to this machine. My application is located in a webserver.
On one of my pages I display a datetime (from a database) and it is formatted correctly as a UK date time (dd-mm-yyyy) on my local machine. However when I deploy it to a server it reverts to American format (mm-dd-yyyy). Does anyone have any idea of when this might be happening?This might be outside the scope of stackoverflow
View 3 RepliesI basically want to transfer a file from the client to the file storage server without actual login to the server so that the client cannot access the storage location on the server directly. I can do this only if i manually login to the storage server through windows login. I dont want to do that. This is a Web-Based Application.
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
filePath = FileUpload1.FileName;
try
{
WebClient client = new WebClient();
NetworkCredential nc = new NetworkCredential(uName, password);
Uri addy = new Uri("\\192.168.1.3\upload\");

View 1 RepliesJust going to start making a web application and was wondering which was better, or at least what are the main differences between them (as it probably matters what I am using them for)?
View 3 RepliesI have had a real nightmare with Server.MapPath(). When I call Server.MapPath("~") in my application that is running in ASP.NET Development Server it returns root directory that ends in a back slash like f:projectsapp1, but I call it in published version, installed in IIS, it returns root directory without any back slash like c:inetpubwwwrootapp1.
string mainRoot = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~");
DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo(mainRoot);
//added to solve this problem with Server.MapPath
if (!mainRoot.EndsWith(@""))
mainRoot += @"";
FileInfo[] files = di.GetFiles("*.aspx");
foreach (FileInfo item in files)
{
string path = item.FullName.Replace(mainRoot, "~/").Replace(@"", "/");
//do more here
}
ASP.Net Page layout is not displaying properly in QA machine but is displaying correctly in Dev Machine. What could be the issue? We are using ASP.Net 2.0
View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET app that was compiled on a 32-bit machine. There are many different assemblies that are referenced. I opened the web site's main dll with ILDASM and looked at the .corflags. It stated it was ILONLY. However, when I run the web site locally on the 64-bit machine (Windows XP Pro 64-bit), I get "is not a valid Win32 applciation". Shouldn't the app run as 64-bit since it was compiled with "AnyCPU"? How can I get this to work? I am using .NET 3.5. I want the app to run as 64-bit, not 32-bit.
View 1 RepliesI have just installed SQL Server 2005. I selected windows mode authentication. I am not able to login in management studion. Now, I want to use mixed and server authentication option inplace of windows authentication. so, would that be possible after installation.
View 2 RepliesThis could be very straight forward for some of you, but I got caught up. I am doing very simple test - browsing from IIS Manager to see the default page or "under Construction", however I am being challenged to provide my login credential . When I provide my login credential, I am able to see the default page. I wanted to see the default page without providing my credential since Enable anoymous access + basic authentication I am simply wanted to see the default page asit is working on other servers except this one. I have included screen print to make sure may question is clear.

View 3 RepliesI set authentication mode to Windows in the web.config and I enable Windows Authentication and disable the Anonymous Authentication in IIS 7 on win 7, but HttpContext.Current.User is always null.It works fine when I host the web app in IIS 6.0.
View 1 Replies'm using the AutoCompleteExtender from the AJAX control toolkit on my aspx page - I have it wired up to a WCF service that is returning a string array and everything works happily.
If I change my service definition to include a demand for the caller to be authenticated, like so:
<OperationContract(), PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Authenticated:=True)> _Public Function GetLookupValues(ByVal prefixText As String, ByVal count As Integer, ByVal contextKey As String) As String()
Then the autocomplete extender stops working, and I get an authentication error in the service. The service is set up to use ASPNetCompatibility mode, and I was hoping that the extender would pass the authentication credentials for my logged in user - does anyone know how to make this work?
What do I need to do in order to change an application from Forms Authentication to windows authentication?
