C# - Increasing The Width Of The Autocomplete Extender List?

Mar 30, 2010

I have an ASP.NET AJAX autocomplete extender with CompletionListCssClass=autocomplete_completionListElement :

.autocomplete_completionListElement
{
width:500px;
margin : 0px!important;
background-color : inherit;
color : windowtext;
border : buttonshadow;
border-width : 1px;
border-style : solid;
overflow :auto;
height : 200px;
text-align : left;
}

But for some odd reason the width of the auto complete list always takes up the width of the textbox even when I set the width to 500px.

C# - Calling SqlCommand Execution Time Is Increasing?

Jul 9, 2010

I've got a loop that executes the stored procedure in a loop with over 40,000 iterations, like so:

SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("WriteDataToDB");
command.Connection = _connection;
command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
command.Parameters.Add("@SignalID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = Arg_Signal.SignalID;
command.Parameters.Add("@SignalStrength", SqlDbType.Float).Value = Arg_Signal.SignalSiggestion;
command.Parameters.Add("@Time", SqlDbType.BigInt).Value = Arg_Signal.TimeWasHit;
command.Parameters.Add("@Value", SqlDbType.Float).Value = Arg_Signal.ValueWasHit;
if (command.Connection.State != ConnectionState.Open)
{
command.Connection.Open();
}
command.ExecuteNonQuery();

This code is called from a loop where I intercept and time every 1000th iteration. The times I get are below:

[0]: "Started 0ms"
[1]: "1000 done 578.125ms"
[2]: "1000 done 921.875ms"
[3]: "1000 done 1328.125m"
[4]: "1000 done 1734.375ms"

Web Forms :: FileUpload Fails Despite Increasing HTTPRuntime MaxRequestLength?

Mar 21, 2010

I have an application (asp.net 3.5) that uses a fileUpload control. I have the entry in web.config set to:

<httpRuntime executionTimeout="3600" maxRequestLength="2097151/>

If I try a large file upload (around 20M), I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error. This code worked on another server and works locally, but when put on a new web host's server, I am getting this error all of a sudden. Is there any way I can get more information as to the cause of the error? I set my browser to uncheck "Show friendly http error messages", but I don't get more information.

Database - Session State Service In Sql Server But W3wp.exe #private Increasing?

Jan 22, 2010

I have recently moved our ASP.NET session state from InProc to a Sql Server solution. I can see session data being inserted into the Sql Server database. I'm monitoring the w3wp.exe process using the "Private bytes" & "# Bytes in all heaps" performance counters.As I navigate through the website it places data into session, however the private bytes counter still climbs on the server hosting the website? I thought the session data was being written to the database and not being stored in memory? The managed bytes remain constant, and I'm pretty sure all the objects going into the session are managed types.

Databases :: Losing Connection When Running Long Running Oracle Procedure?

Jul 1, 2010

I am executing a long-running Oracle stored procedure from .NET. The procedure takes about three hours to run. Ideally, the user should be able to kick off the procedure, close the browser, and come back later to check the results.

The problem is that the connection to the Oracle procedure is lost after exactly an hour. As you would expect, the Oracle procedre runs to completion if it is executed from SQL Plus. Strangely enough, it will also run to completion if I run in debug mode on my local machine (I start two threads, one of which executes the procedure. I set a breakpoint on the second thread).

Here is my connection string:

data source= (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=serverx)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=TestSID)))

Some relevant sections from web.config:

<sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="false" timeout="3000" stateNetworkTimeout="72000"/>
<httpRuntime executionTimeout="18000" maxRequestLength="2097151" />

Any thoughts as to why the connection is being lost in exactly an hour, and what I can do to maintain the connection until the procedure finishes?

WCF / ASMX :: IIS Memory Increasing For Each Client Request In Asmx Web Service?

Nov 8, 2010

A customer reported that our asmx web service is continually increasing in memory (mem usage as well as private bytes). We are able to reproduce the problem in our lab with Windows 2003 Server SP2 (fully patched) on some of the machines. The customer is using Windows 2008.

We created a Hello World web service targeting the 2.0 framework built under VS2005 SP1 and a test client that continues to call it. The memory increases steadily - approximately 40K per client request. If the test app is paused, the memory remains the same. When it is closed, the memory drops. Explicit calling of GC.Collect does not drop the memory.

We have run the memory profiler on the service and the leak is all native memory. We have uninstalled/re-installed the Framework on one of the machines but no difference. To our knowledge all of the security and IIS settings are not modified. We have compared app pool, default web site and virtual directory properties to machines that have no problem and they are identical.

AJAX :: How To Restrict User For Selecting End Date Less Than Start Date In Calendar Extender

May 7, 2015

I am using AjaxCalendar Toolkit :

<asp:TextBox CssClass="form-control" ReadOnly="true" runat="server" id="StartTime"></asp:TextBox> <asp:CalendarExtender ID="Start_CalendarExtender" runat="server" Enabled="True" TargetControlID="StartTime">
</asp:CalendarExtender>
<asp:TextBox CssClass="form-control" ReadOnly="true" runat="server" id="EndTime"></asp:TextBox> <asp:CalendarExtender ID="Start_CalendarExtender" runat="server" Enabled="True" TargetControlID="EndTime">
</asp:CalendarExtender>

And On Page Load i have done this to avoid selecting previoud dates in start date :

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Start_CalendarExtender.StartDate = DateTime.Now;
}

Now i want to do that user cannot select end date less than start date , e.g if he choose 2-July-2014 ( as a start date) then he could not choose (1-July-2014) as End date , dates prior to Start Date must get disabled in End Date Calendar Extender.
