I have been thinking what is the right way to validate the data I am sending to a web method from jQuery ajax call. I have formerly used updatepanels to do my ajax, but am trying to shift to jQuery now and validation seems to get more complicated.
So obviously there are both client- and server-side validation options. At first I tried implementing jQuery validation plugin and got it working. But surely client-side validation is not good enough alone. Then I considered implementing regular asp.net validation to validate on the server. But what if a user tampers the input parameters after the validation happened. He could break the execution of the script in Firebug and change the input to whatever he wanted. So how can I either prevent that or implement validation in the web method? Here is my ajax call which sends a message to the server. [Code]....
You see I am sending three parameters (id of the person who this message is ment for, message type and message text). Even if I implement asp.net validation against input controls, a user might change those input values in Firebug, right? So I need to validate the input again in the web method? Or what would be the best way from the beginning?
I am developing web application and in application i need to make call of jQuery using .ajax(); method with datatype is set jsonp. Now all works well with limited data but problem start to occur when data size is increasing......
I have a textbox in one grid-view column where upon entering a particular value and losing focus of the textbox, should post to the server to get the text validated through a server-side method. If the entry is valid, a result set to fill rest of row cells would be returned, else the bgcolor of the textbox needs to be changed to Red.
I tried posting back through the obvious way, i.e. making the textbox's autopostback as true and wiring up a server-side OnTextChanged event handler to validate the entered value.
It is working with this setup, but is also affecting the remaining page controls behaviour. For example, if I click a button in some other grid after entering some text in the textbox, the OnTextChanged handler gets called thus preventing the button's click event, which I also wish to call to execute its functionality.
I have a custom user control with some input fields and a submit button. I need to validate the fields using the jquery validation plugin when the submit button is clicked. (The function of the submit button is to create another custom control which displays the data entered in the above mentioned control)
Bt as far as I knw, validation plugin works only with form validation ryt? And my custom control does not contain a form tag as I am using master pages. The custom control is present in one of the content pages and the master page already contains a form tag with a runat=server attribute. And I guess one page can contain only a single form tag with runat=server attrib ryt?
I want to add gridview row data into to data base I am doing it perfectly. My problem is that want all gridview row data save and then web method should be called but in my cause one gridview data save in array then call webmethod, then other row data save in array then call webmethod called this process should be so on.But I want it webmethod should be called when all gridview row save in array.
Follwing code
Jquery <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("[id*=btnSubmit]").bind("click", function () { var Customer = {};
i am new in json script.am trying to convert the database table value into json using asp.net with c#.here, am also send the response to asp.net client side.but am not receiving any response from server side.
If I use jQuery AJAX to call a specific ASP.NET page method how to have that method return a value back to the AJAX method that called it?
Update
My situation is I have an existing web application with many existing methods. I would like to be able to use jQuery to execute some of these methods and then update the UI with the results. My mandate is to stay away from ASP.NET AJAX and stick with jQuery. Management is concerned about continued development and support with ASP.NET AJAX from Microsoft. I agree with them.
I am using multiple user control in my web page. Each of these usercontrol has $(document).ready() method. Because i am using an update panel, i am binding all the events again in end_request event. But I dont want to do that in all my usercontrols. Is is possible to do this at a common place(only once)?
I am writing a sample jQuery/WCF Data Service app to utilize OData, however I am getting a status code 405 - Method not allowed when I attempt to update an entity with a PUT Http method. I have configured my WCF Data Service as follows:

I am attempting to update the jCredentials_PINs table. My jQuery call to update the WCF Data Service is as follows:

I am using Windows 7 / IIS 7.5. GETs against the jCredentials_PINs table work fine. The only web.config configuration information is as follows:
I am creating an Asp.net web site which will support dynamic data. When I am creating a dynamic web site from Scratch (from template in VS) all is working fine. But when I am trying to add dynamic entity (.edmx) file and running the application I am getting following error
"The method 'Skip' is only supported for sorted input in LINQ to Entities. The method 'OrderBy' must be called before the method 'Skip'. "
I m Using a GridView: Columns: "Ser_type" tells what type of data is it i.e. VC for Varchar, NU for Numeric, DT for DateTime etc, for the time being i m using datavalidation controlls at design time. this is not a good approach. I just wan to do is that, DataValidationControlls should be created at RunTime and TextBox should validate data at runtime only. i.e. if Data required in the TextBox is of Type VC then it should validate only at runtime, if DT then validate DateTime only at Runtime similarly for all dataType:
I have various questions about validation using data annotations. I am using the following setup
asp.net mvc 2 entity framework 4 data annotations
Basically, I'm trying to get unique validation working and i'm a little confused. My models are as follows:
public class Buyer { public int Id { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "The email is required")] public string Email { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage= "The name is required")] public string Name { get; set; } } public class Seller { public int Id { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "The email is required")] public string Email { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage= "The name is required")] public string Name { get; set; } }...............................................
I am using a bound gridview in ASP.NET 2.0. The gridview has the ability to edit/update and insert rows. One of the columns holds a number which represents a percentage. What I cannot figure out is how to ensure that all the rows in the gridview total 100% before being able to send the updates or newly inserted data to the database.
For example say there are 5 rows in the gridview, each row has 20% stored in the column so it adds up to 100% which is fine, the data is updated/inserted in the database. But say each row only had 15% totalling 75%, the user should not be able to send the updated/inserted data to the database until either they add a new row with a percentage of 25 or they edit the other rows for a cumulative total of 100%
i have one simple question; do I have to... or is there any need to validate value from DropDownLists that are populated from SQL Datatables. I know how to validate them, but I am just concerned about potential SQL Injection, because those DropDownLists are going to be "Input fields" for a new Datatable, and insted of using TextBoxes, user will choose values from those DDL's and Submit them (INSERT INTO) to SQL Datatable. Is there a way for a "hacker" to insert his item value into DropDownList. I hop You understand what I mean!?

I have a page web method, and I need to get access to the headers, and particularly the uploaded files. Is this possible? Can a web method receive a file?If not, what would you recommend to upload files without post back? I am using the jQuery forms library that has support for this (and I have had it working with Django), however, I am having a hard time finding answers on how to do this with ASP.NET.
I have a page called AddNews.aspx and in codebehind a web method called AddNews(Parameters).. AddNews.aspx page is inherited from a master page.. So i used contentplaceholder. I have a button..It's id is btnSave.
I'm trying to use the jQuery.post() function to post an object to an action method, but for some reason the nested objects aren't initialised properly when they're received by the action method.
Here's my javascript code:

And my action method:
