Feb 23, 2011I've an ASP.NET application hosted inside a local area network. The application host machine has access to the internet while the local area network clients do not.
There is one requirement where I've to show a web page with rich content (images) in an IFrame from internet (public network) address.
However since internet access is not available on the client, this somehow has to be done from server and then needs to be served to client.
How can this be done?
Internet Explorer - Back Button Gets Disabled On IE 7,8 For Site
Apr 22, 2010In an ASP.NET 3.5 website we are noticing that the back button is not working properly. If the user does several postbacks (say 10 times), and than starts pressing back button - the back button gets disabled before the user gets through all the pages. The site does not use AJAX.net.
I can reproduce the issue on IE 7 and 8 almost always. The problem seems to be with some sort of limit IE has on History Cache for a given tab/instance. In the tests I did the post request to the server are large - around 83k, and the responses are are round 300k. It seems that with these request sizes the history does not hold more than 4 items. The moment I get to the 5 post, the first item i had selected is dropped.

It works fine most of the time but some departments wont be able to access the site and will be asked to enter user name and password.I checked their Active Directory account and the only difference i could see was that the organizational unit parameter was different than the rest of the users.

After googling, I suspect that it's the problem of the response header. I try the solution in this page and set the header:

Jul 31, 2010I'm having an issue that has made me loose too many hours already. My site works fine in VS2008 with SQL Express 2008. However, when I try to deploy the site following these steps:
1. Create a new site IIS 7.0
2. Copy all the files from my code folder to IIS 7.0, (I was planning to delete the code latter)
3. Browse to my Index.aspx
The error message I receive is Cannot open database "AnimalSafe" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNetwork Service'. I've already changed the application pool to use Network Service to authenticate and have made sure that SQL is running under this account.

The application is designed for Google Chrome. I would like to pop out IE when printing is involved because Chrome lack preview etc. at a button click the IE should open. Here's the code:

Situation:The user is logged onto their computer with something like Domain1John and is running Internet Explorer 7 as Domain2Mike using the "Run As" option.
Domain1 is the user's local domain. He is accessing the application over the Internet using the Domain2Mike credentials where Domain2 is the domain that IIS knows about.
I'm opening a new browser page with Javascript, and the window contains a PDF report; the problem is that it is not showing correctly. It shows a gray screen, without even the Adobe reader toolbar.
On the other hand, when IE is run as Domain1John everything works nicely.I think it has something with the local computer rights. I added Domain2Mike to the Administrator group on the local computer, but it still fails to open the new page correctly.

Oct 18, 2010When a user opens the my web app then immediately opens clicks on a button to open another, related page (page opens in a separate window (users choice) via a button), the new page opens fine. If a user open the my web app and waits a bit (usually abouta minute) before clickin on the button to open another page, they get the 'Page Not Found' error. When I run this app locally (local host), I have no problems.the server can handle, why does this happen only after the user waits to open the other page.

On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.

Oct 21, 2010Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?

May 6, 2010I was hoping to open a document in a menu control using a sitemap. I am using the following code in the sitemap but get an error. I would like to be able to click on the menu item, have it open the sample doc in a new window, but not to have the original page navigate to a new place (essentially to do nothing on the main page.)
