View 3 RepliesI'm running into a problem trying to download a file from the server. I'm receiving a IE 8 "Unable to open this internet site" error dialog.
Basically, I want to open a new page and pass in the file path and mimetype of the server's document using a query string.
My code is as follows:

The JavaScript:

This is the code of the page load event that will transmit the file:

I've an ASP.NET application hosted inside a local area network. The application host machine has access to the internet while the local area network clients do not.
There is one requirement where I've to show a web page with rich content (images) in an IFrame from internet (public network) address.
However since internet access is not available on the client, this somehow has to be done from server and then needs to be served to client.
How can this be done?
In an ASP.NET 3.5 website we are noticing that the back button is not working properly. If the user does several postbacks (say 10 times), and than starts pressing back button - the back button gets disabled before the user gets through all the pages. The site does not use AJAX.net.
I can reproduce the issue on IE 7 and 8 almost always. The problem seems to be with some sort of limit IE has on History Cache for a given tab/instance. In the tests I did the post request to the server are large - around 83k, and the responses are are round 300k. It seems that with these request sizes the history does not hold more than 4 items. The moment I get to the 5 post, the first item i had selected is dropped.
I have an intranet site that i set up to windows authentication. It works fine most of the time but some departments wont be able to access the site and will be asked to enter user name and password.I checked their Active Directory account and the only difference i could see was that the organizational unit parameter was different than the rest of the users.

Internet Explorer cannot download xxxx.aspx from mysite.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
After googling, I suspect that it's the problem of the response header. I try the solution in this page and set the header:
[URL]
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
HttpContext.Current.Response.CacheControl = "private";
I'm having an issue that has made me loose too many hours already. My site works fine in VS2008 with SQL Express 2008. However, when I try to deploy the site following these steps:
1. Create a new site IIS 7.0
2. Copy all the files from my code folder to IIS 7.0, (I was planning to delete the code latter)
3. Browse to my Index.aspx
The error message I receive is Cannot open database "AnimalSafe" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNetwork Service'. I've already changed the application pool to use Network Service to authenticate and have made sure that SQL is running under this account.
I want to open a smaller internet window to show some data that is to large to go in the calendar control. I found the code below, but it says the following error:It puts a blue line under the last part: </script>" and says the error below. What am I doing wrong and is there any other way to accomplish this task?
Error 5

I currently developing a ASP.NET web application.
The application is designed for Google Chrome. I would like to pop out IE when printing is involved because Chrome lack preview etc. at a button click the IE should open. Here's the code:
protected void btn_print_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("http://localhost/storeapp/printpage.aspx?orderno=" + Request.QueryString["orderno"].ToString() + "");
}
Here I have passed a particular orderno to the URL. But when I click nothing happens. I have set IE as default web browser. Why is this?
I have a requirement to open a new window from Internet Explorer, but the new window should be in new asp.net session. It should not share the same session of previous opened window or the parent window. How can it be possible? Any thoughts? I'm using window.open('mywindow.aspx') from parent page javascript to open new windows.
View 1 RepliesI'm wondering if there is a built in way to take a GridView select buttons and have them open an IE window or tab and link a FormView Control to that link.
Basically a Master-Details type of view, but in a new window instead of the same window.
First things first.This application is an ASP.NET application using windows authentication.
Situation:The user is logged onto their computer with something like Domain1John and is running Internet Explorer 7 as Domain2Mike using the "Run As" option.
Domain1 is the user's local domain. He is accessing the application over the Internet using the Domain2Mike credentials where Domain2 is the domain that IIS knows about.
I'm opening a new browser page with Javascript, and the window contains a PDF report; the problem is that it is not showing correctly. It shows a gray screen, without even the Adobe reader toolbar.
On the other hand, when IE is run as Domain1John everything works nicely.I think it has something with the local computer rights. I added Domain2Mike to the Administrator group on the local computer, but it still fails to open the new page correctly.
i m not able to open certain sites from internet explorer 7.it is showing all sites as restricted .
View 12 RepliesWhen a user opens the my web app then immediately opens clicks on a button to open another, related page (page opens in a separate window (users choice) via a button), the new page opens fine. If a user open the my web app and waits a bit (usually abouta minute) before clickin on the button to open another page, they get the 'Page Not Found' error. When I run this app locally (local host), I have no problems.the server can handle, why does this happen only after the user waits to open the other page.
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="3600" useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true"/>

I have a requirement where I have to transfer a user from Web Site 1 on Server A to web Site 2 on Server B.
On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.
or is it the best way to move Web Site 2 from Server B to Server A so that, the same login controls will be shown using Iframe on Web Site A.
Can I open executable files on a client machine from an ASP.NET site hosted on IIS?
I have tried using the following code in ASP.NET:
Process notePad = new Process();
notePad.StartInfo.FileName = "notepad.exe";
notePad.StartInfo.Arguments = @"E:abc.txt";
notePad.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false;
notePad.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
notePad.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = false;
notePad.Start();
and also in Javascript with the following code:
function Launch() {
var w = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
w.run('notepad.exe');
return true;
}
But both snippets will only open the file when the site is not hosted in IIS.

I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I use vb.net, but can usually convert c# to vb.net
View 1 RepliesUsing Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?
I have a site that I am trying to extend how long a session stays open even though the user is inactive. I have this set in my web.config
<sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="720" />
And this is set it IIS
Time-out (in minutes):
720
But it is still timing out after like 15 minutes.
I need to build a Q&A module for a .net site. I need it to integrate with our .net membership system. We are happy to pay for it... but all I have found so far is php code and the QHub hosted system, which would be a problem to integrate with out members.
View 6 RepliesI was hoping to open a document in a menu control using a sitemap. I am using the following code in the sitemap but get an error. I would like to be able to click on the menu item, have it open the sample doc in a new window, but not to have the original page navigate to a new place (essentially to do nothing on the main page.)
<siteMapNode url="javascript:window.open('Sample.doc','SampleName'); return false" title="FAQs" description="FAQs" />
Is there some javascript I can use that does not require me to register a function on every page?
