Consider an ASP.NET server control DropDownList (or <input type='select'>) with a large number of options (e.g. 100 options). When clicking on the list, the full list of 100 options are shown. They're all displayed, and run off the screen. can the control's picklist size be resized or limited to the first n options?

How can i take a file name see if there is a R on it then remove the R so i have orignal file and delete it? So in other words if a file has a letter R on it. It was resized need to delete orignal.
View 4 RepliesI have a program that gets data from an SQL database via some comboboxes. When the user has selected what they are looking for, I want to have a "preview" button which will generate the image (I've written this code already) and display it in a small, resized popup window.
A) I'm pretty new to this ASP, but know VB pretty well.
B) I have no idea how to make a new popup come up
C) How can I have the code written for the image generation point to that popup window? Also, I'm storing the image in memory. As this will have serveral users at once, it probably isn't a good idea to be saving this down. Here is the code for the file generation.

And while we are on the subject of dealing with image files, is there a way to get the file format from the original file, rather than looking at the file extension to determine the file type:

I thought that vImgFormat = vOrgImgFle.RawFormat might do it but that seems to return something completely different than ImageFormat.Jpeg.

I have a dynamic dropdown that is populated from sql. The user is supposed to select an option from the dropdown, then click a search button on the form to return some results based on that selection. It works fine if the dropdown gets populated with more than one record. However, if only one record is returned, that one record can't be selected. Whether you select it or just leave it alone since it's the only one, when you click the form button (search button), no results are returned b/c the dropdown selection must not be actually selected.

I have tested the page itself outside of the iframe and the problems are not reproduced, only when inside of the jQuery dialog.

The class of the image is set dynamically based on image dimensions.
The image path is set in the code behind, no styling or resizing done.
The images are resized upon upload to be no larger than 300x300.
Display is correct in Chrome and Safari, but in IE and FF for some reason it enlarges the image.
I have developed a website using ASP.net. The pages use a master page with the background image set to the colour I require. All appears OK until I resize the window - then as I reduce the window size and or change the zoom level - white blank areas appear on the background to the right of the page and textboxes remain the background colour overlaying the white areas. This also happens when view in other browsers.

The image at the head flows over the social icons and the images at the center page resizing drops below and pushes the other image down. Now depending on this column value, I need to hide the PDF option from the dropdown in the reportviewer.
I tried iterating the controls on the webform to find out a dropdown but everything is rendered as div elements.
The other approach I tried is this.
Since the reportviewer is on a .aspx page, I wrote a javascript function which will pull out the value from the hidden field on the page
and hide the div element. Works fine when the page loads the first time. But if I were to change the parameters and hit 'View Report'
again, somehow the javascript function never gets called and the div never gets hidden.

I'm making a simple mvc site containing a database over the movies we have at home. When i display my movies i'd like to display "the short version" of the plot, leaving the rest to be read when you actually click on the movie to see more details about it. How can I do this? Do i write some sort of limitation in the string on the index page?

I want a limited amount of html tags for the user to be able to put in my form and by looking at the posts, regular expressions seem to be the way forward. I don't want to use javascript or 3rd party as this is for an assignment at university.
The examples I have found seem to be set out differently than mine with using asp id identifiers whereas my code below is set out differently so I am unsure if I can use these examples.

I have asp.net2005 on my system with sql server.
I am using mySQL. I have separate tables for several languages. When I display the Greek statements I seem to be limited to between 192 and 201 characters. That is not the problem with English, Danish, Dutch, Russian, or Farsi. I am using the same code for each with the only change being which table is opened. (In fact I just took the Dutch code and changed only the name of the table I'm opening to the Greek table and had the same problem.)The problem is that I've also double checked the statements in the table and they are complete, e.g., some have up to 255 characters.

Im working on the web where user can make a new post a then leave a comments to each post I've done it so far
I know the content palcehlder does not have a size ,I have a masterpage and content page, the master page has a table with a header, content area, and footer, header and footer are fixed size, content area is 100%. As the user sizes the browser the content area grows and shrinks and the footer stays at the
bottom of the browser window - perfect!
Problem: The contentpalceholder does not grow to fill the available content area. Now, the contentplaceholder gets its size from its contents, which in this case is a div holding a silverlight object.I was thinking I could hook the master or child page's re-size event and somehow pass that info onto the SL object, but as it turns out (and I'm surprised I never knew this) there is no aps.net page re-size event! (really?, wow.)
So is there a way to get a SL object hosted on a master page to size itself based on the size of the browser window?Or more generally, a way to size the contents (like a div or panel) of a contentplaceholder based on the browser? on a standard aspx page (not a master page) I CAN get the SL object to size itself based on the broswer, the problem seems to come from the fact that I'm hosting the SL object in a content placeholder.
I guess I could 'unroll' the master page into several standalone pages and have it work, but the menu is on the master page and I'm used to using them, plus it's already done...<sigh>
i get the problem in updating the treeview nodes from databse.i have created a dropdown list and on selectionindex change event i written the code for selection of nodes in the treeview.on first time selecting the option in dropdown list i get the selected nodes which works fine..but when i change the option in the dropdown control the treeview nodes cant updated on page but it seems selected as per database in the code behind when i debbug it
View 7 RepliesI am using TabContainer with some controls on each tab (asp: labels, text boxes). When redirecting to the page that contains the TabContainer, the tabs and their content loads as expected, but when there is a postback, and the page refreshes, the TabContainer UI changes - the font size of the labels gets bigger, the text boxes become bigger and their location changes a bit (not aligned as before), and the tab header is partially hidden. I am using IE7.
I dont know if this is relevant but in some of the text boxes i use edit mask extender as well for date. Also, I have used a table inside the TabContainer for layouting the controls.
