Jun 29, 2010I have a dynamic dropdown that is populated from sql. The user is supposed to select an option from the dropdown, then click a search button on the form to return some results based on that selection. It works fine if the dropdown gets populated with more than one record. However, if only one record is returned, that one record can't be selected. Whether you select it or just leave it alone since it's the only one, when you click the form button (search button), no results are returned b/c the dropdown selection must not be actually selected.
I've included the relevant code below. First the DDL, then the datasource, and finally the C# code in the if (!Page.IsPostBack)

Mar 25, 2011I had use a combox to let user select staff name and then it will automatically retrive the responsible recommending officer and approving officer to display in other 2 dropdownlist.
my code works fine but when user select staff name each time, the page will reload once to refresh the dropdownlist.
user complaint and don't want the page reload every time, how can i disable the postback? I need to use ajax?

Is There An Easy Way To Add A "--Select--" Option To A DataBound DropDownList
Jun 24, 2010I have a DataBound DropDownList that is loading fine, but i'd like to insert another item that says "--Select--" or something instead of having the first DataBound item automatically display.
Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to manually add a dummy item?

Dec 18, 2010I have SqlDataSource with a few parameters (code below). If I understand this code correctly if parameter is NULL I should receive all items from the query. It works fine with query editor. But when I try to use this query on my page - with DropDownList and Textbox controls as source of parameters - it doesn't work. I suspect that main reason of problem is value which these controls pass to the query. Instead of NULL this is an empty string. Is it possible to pass NULL value from DropDownList or TextBox to
the SqlDataSource?

May 6, 2010I'm trying to display all orders placed and I have a primary accessdatasource control that has a select query to get the customer information and the orderID. I want to use the orderID value from this first query as a parameter for the secondary accessdatasource control that selects the product information of the products in the order. In plain english, I want to:- select product info from product table where orderID = ?(where ? is the orderID value from the first query)
I have tried the <%#Eval("OrderID")%> but I get a "server tag not well formed" error, but I do get results returned when I just type the order ID in, but obviously every result (order) just contains the same product info...

Web Forms :: Why Simple HTML Select Element Has A Misplaced Focus
May 13, 2010This was generated from my asp.net page. (ListBox was rendered as select element)
I was able to isolate the focus problem from the ListBox to the following HTML.
Just copy-paste the HTML bellow and open it in a browser window.
The browser renders the Focus in a strange way. I have to solve it for one of our clients.
If the Height is set to 185px the focus doesn't work properly. I tried to play around with different heights.
Btw, if the Height is set to 81px there's no problem with the Focus.
But I have to have the height at least 170px.

Feb 16, 2010I have a Gridview that provides the user the student name for a particular class, a dropdown list to enter grades. If a grade of 'U' is given, a textbox appears in which the last day of attendance must be listed.
It works... though not as conviently as it could; the faculty would like to be able to tab from one dropdownlist to next in succession.
On each ddlGrades changes I write the value to the database and if a 'U' was chosen, display the textBox... but I can't figure how to set focus on the next ddlGrades control, or even the same ddlGrades control that initiated the postbock.
