.net - Converting Files In To Single Zip Using C#?
Mar 7, 2011I am using C# code for aspx pages. I need to convert multiple files in to single zip file that can be readable by windows default zip software.

View 4 RepliesI get a single value from a stroed procedure of type float. Even if I change it into Int or decimal in the procedure when I call it from my asp.net appliction with ExecuteScalar I get this error:
Exception Details: System.InvalidCastException: Object must implement IConvertible.
Source Error:
[Code]....
I tried with
Int32 pomalor=(int32)distpostSqlCommand1.ExecuteScalar();
= Convert.ToString(...);
= (String).....
but I always get the same error.
I have many (>600) EPS files(300 KB - 1 MB) in database. In my ASP.NET application (using ASP.NET 4.0) I need to retrieve them one by one and call a web service which would convert the content to the JPEG file and update the database (JPEGContent column with the JPEG content). However, retrieving the content for 600 of them itself takes too long from the SQL management studio itself (takes 5 minutes for 10 EPS contents).
So I have two issues:-
1) How to get the EPS content ( unfortunately, selecting certain number of content is not an option :-( ):-
Approach 1:-
foreach(var DataRow in DataTable.Rows)
{
// get the Id and byte[] of EPS
// Call the web method to convert EPS content to JPEG
}
or
foreach(var DataRow in DataTable.Rows)
{
// get only the Id of EPS
// Hit database to get the content of EPS
// Call the web method to convert EPS content to JPEG
}
or
Any other approach?
2) Converting EPS to JPEG using a web method for >600 contents. Ofcourse, each call would be a long running operation. Would task parellel library (TPL) be a better way to achieve this?
Also, is doing the entire thing in a SQL CLR function a good idea?
EDIT :- Unfortunately, I have to do this in the ASP.NET application itself and doing that in a separate process like Windows service is not an option.
We need to upload multiple files using ASP.Net in one go. One option is to use the ASP.Net FileUpload control but it seems that it can't upload multiple files in one go. Any other option or ASP.Net FileUpload control can do multiple uploads in one go with some tuning?
View 2 RepliesI'm using this code for creating and xml file out of a SQL2005 table:
[Code]....
Is there a way for me to create multiple xml files, one for every row, going by the primary key column, or do I have to create a separate query for each row?
I would also wondering what is the syntax for transforming this query into a stored procedure
I am facing a situation wherein i have to ask the user for the files to upload and save them as blob in the database. I have a single file upload control on the page and user can add as many files as he wants. When the user browse the file and click add button then the file gets added at some temporary location on the page and later on when the user has specified all the files to upload then I would like to insert all these files using a single insert query in the database.

View 1 RepliesI had implemented FileUpload code. In which for every particular Id, it creates Folder/Directory (if not exist) on Page _load.Then inside that particular Id's folder it will upload single or multiple files.
HTML:
<asp:Label ID="LFileUpload" runat="server" Text="Upload File"></asp:Label>
<asp:FileUpload ID="FileUpload1" runat="server" Width="300px" AllowMultiple="true"/>
<asp:Button ID="btnUpload" runat="server" Text="Upload" OnClick="UploadFile" ValidationGroup="none"/>
<asp:Label ID="LMsg" runat="server" Text="" Visible="false"></asp:Label>
[CODE]...
I have reffered the Select and Upload Multiple Files Gmail Style using JQuery and ASP.Net to upload multiple files but i want to upload files in button click. how can i call the code in button click because above mentioned article uploads the file using upload .ashx?
View 1 RepliesIs there any difference between accessing a property that has a backing field
private int _id;
public int Id
{
get { return _id; }
set { _id = value; }
}
versus an auto-property?
public int Id { get; set; }
The reason I'm asking is that when letting ReSharper convert a property into an auto property it seems to scan my entire solution, or at least all aspx-files.
I can't see any reason why there should be any difference between the two from outside the class. Is there?
I want to allow a user to upload several files with one upload action. What is the simplest way to do this?
View 3 RepliesI would like to make a "select" from an Access (mdb) file in SQL Server 2008 R2. I was using:
SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0','C:..FILE.mdb', 'SELECT * FROM Users')
But I´m getting the error: Msg 7308, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode.
I have a stored procedure that returns 3 tables within the single recordset it returns. If I set a SqlDataSource to get data from this procedure, it works, but it only returns the first table. I want to have a GridView display the data from the 2nd or 3rd table using a SqlDataSource, but I can't figure out how to specify a particular table.
While there are some posts discussing this out there, I can't get a definitive answer about whether or not this is even possible (?). In a worst-case scenario, I can create another SP that only returns the 3rd table - but that creates a little maintenance headache that I would prefer to avoid.
For context: First of all, I am new to LINQ, as I have been using SubSonic for quite some time now.
I have two tables, Users, and Affiliates. They both have a very typical schema. The FK that joins them is the UserId field, which is in the Affiliates table. I want to create a LINQ query that pulls the Username from the Users table using the AffiliateId value. The AffiliateId is a primary key of the Affiliates table.
I have tried to accomplish this using many variations of the following code:
[Code]....
In the above query, I expect to get a single row result set. However, I instead receive the entire table of results.
How can I make this work? I have yet to see an example or article out there to do what I am trying to do.
I have huge excel files that I have to open from web browser. It takes several minutes to load huge file. Is it possible to open a single worksheet (single tab) at a time from excel file that contains many worksheets? I have to do this using C# / asp.net MVC

View 2 RepliesBackground: I use stored procedures exclusively for an ASP.NET application. I am using a DataReader to load a dataset object.
View 4 RepliesI manage a large asp.net site which has previously been converted from static html site to asp.net. For several reasons (mainly SEO) we decided not to rename all the files to .aspx back when we originally converted the site. This was very easy to do by simply adding the buildProvider and httpHandler to the web.config.
<buildProviders>
<add extension=".html" type="System.Web.Compilation.PageBuildProvider"/>
</buildProviders>
<httpHandlers>
<add path="*.html" verb="*" type="System.Web.UI.PageHandlerFactory"/>
</httpHandlers>
Now I am upgrading the site to use Asp.net WebPages with Razor cshtml files. I can rename all the files if necessary, and use url rewriting to make the urls stay the same, however it would be much easier if I could just configure the web.config to tell it to parse .html files as if they were .cshtml. I have searched around quite a bit, and could not find anything equivalent to the PageHandlerFactory for razor pages. It appears as though it is just an internal mechanism in the .net 4.0 ISAPI handler.
The site is currently running on Windows 2003 server and IIS 6. We will be upgrading to 2008/IIS 7.5 in the near future, but I'd prefer not to wait for that. Is there any way to get the .html files to be parsed by razor as if they were .cshtml files?
I basically want to do a reverse 'search in all files', so it returns files that don't contain "keyword".Does anyone know how to do this, or the regex used, etc?
View 1 RepliesI have an application that uses resource files to display items in multiple languages. My app uses quote a lot of javascript and the alerts need to display in the local language. To do this, I have created an http handler which will read the keys and values of the culture-specific resource file and write them to a JSON array which is then embedded in the page in a script tag, the messages can then be accesses using, for exmaple:
Message.Error (en-GB = "Error", fr-FR = "Erreur")
The messages http handler works great in development, however when I run the application on a test server, I get the error: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Resources.Alerts.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "App_GlobalResources.b0n9j90e" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed. The code that I use to acccess the resource file is:
ResourceManager manager = Resources.Alerts.ResourceManager;
ResourceSet resourceSet= Resources.Alerts.ResourceManager.GetResourceSet(Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture, true, true);
Where Resources.Alerts is the type that contains my multi-lingual definitions. The build action for the Alerts.resx file is set to "Embedded Resource". Any ideas why this works locally but not on my test server, am I missing something?
I was following the tutorials from this two sites:
http://www.15seconds.com/issue/070104.htm
http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/020404-1.aspx
Following the first site, it had worked but when I´ve moved the pages and files to other folders and set the web.config file on this folder, now it won´t work at all!!!
The file is an *.swf object. I did put the asapi.dll to map the extension on the website root, I´ve put the
[Code]....
on the web.config new folder and on the web.config website´s root.
It won´t work!!! I can access the file directly!!! on the web.config of the folder that contains the file, there is a <deny users="*" /> line.
I am not sure this is the forums but I dont know where to write this and this is an EMERGENCY ::I had windows 2003 server. on C: and I have installed windows 2008 server.I had SQL server installed and all of the database files stored inside c:program filessql server....PROBLEM is that after I installed 2008 server I can see 2 folders of program files one for x86 and the other for 64 bits.
View 2 RepliesI have a form with 10 file inputs. They can contain 10 random files with random sizes. If I send these files to ASP.NET server with this code:
var count = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Count;
var TotalSize = 0;
for (int i = 0; i < count; i++ )
{
HttpPostedFile postedFile = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Get(i);
TotalSize += postedFile.ContentLength;
}
And as you can see I didn't save the files on the server, will this code just calculate the summary of files without need to receive the whole file from the client (And therefore it would be very fast)?
i have a production server that does not have ftp access. Possible way to deploy files is connecting with remote desktop client and send files.
As you know this approach is highly hard and time inefficient.
I am trying to open different types of files that I have uploaded on my sql server database. I would like to display all the list of files in Gridview. When user click the link it should open download dialog box and should be able to open its particular applications such as word, excel, browsers etc.
