SQL Server :: How To Open Different Types Of Files / Display All The List Of Files In Gridview
Aug 26, 2010
I am trying to open different types of files that I have uploaded on my sql server database. I would like to display all the list of files in Gridview. When user click the link it should open download dialog box and should be able to open its particular applications such as word, excel, browsers etc.
how to upload file in asp.net using c# with respect to grid view as when i upload file.. den using grid view i can view all d information n get a option to download dat uploaded file from gridview....
I have used the tutorial for Save and Retrieve Files from SQL Server Database using ASP.Net It's working well for saving and retrieving on page OR on label. For the file retrieving section i want the file to be displayed as link "Download" in Gridview and when i click on download link file should start downloading.
I have an application that uses resource files to display items in multiple languages. My app uses quote a lot of javascript and the alerts need to display in the local language. To do this, I have created an http handler which will read the keys and values of the culture-specific resource file and write them to a JSON array which is then embedded in the page in a script tag, the messages can then be accesses using, for exmaple:
Message.Error (en-GB = "Error", fr-FR = "Erreur")
The messages http handler works great in development, however when I run the application on a test server, I get the error: Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Resources.Alerts.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "App_GlobalResources.b0n9j90e" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed. The code that I use to acccess the resource file is:
Where Resources.Alerts is the type that contains my multi-lingual definitions. The build action for the Alerts.resx file is set to "Embedded Resource". Any ideas why this works locally but not on my test server, am I missing something?
I have an asp.net web site that allows users to upload .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx and .pdf files to a specified folder on the server. After the user uploads the file and if they save a new 'item' record in the database, I will change the file name to include the item rec's unique ID and then update the item record's 'Attach' Varchar(50) field with the path to the file on the server. What I was hoping to do was use a HyperLink control and set the .NavigateURL to the path of the file ie: hyperlink.NavigateURL = "C:WebsiteUploadsRec_133.docx" then when the user views the record they could click on the hyperlink and the file would open on the users desktop (granted if the user has word 2007 installed). The problem is the hyperlink idea does not work. Would anyone have a good solution or method for me to dynamicly set a control etc. to allow the user to open the attached file on the server.
I have a web application where i need to search the files present in a server folder using the text given in a textbox.I have developed the logic and its working fine.I have added the files to a ArrayList and have used to display the searched files using a datalist.I am getting all the searched files correctly.I have added a hyperlink field so that i can open the files. But when when in click the files its not opening the files rather going to parent directory.
I'm trying to display a list of Excel files that are stored in multiple folders in adatagrid but the .GetFiles part of the routine in my loop only gets the very last excel file rather than all that meet the criteria. Below is the code I've been working on for several days. This is the first time I have tried to use a "For next loop," and I am having much trouble with this. Using the same loop code posted I was able to verify that the loop was working by appending some text into a temporary label.
I have a .txt file and i open this file, read it and encrypt and decrypt it, it works fine. Now i want to read all types of files like .png, .pdf, .doc etc and do encryption /decryption. file.readtoend() does not work here. How can i do tht?
I manage a large asp.net site which has previously been converted from static html site to asp.net. For several reasons (mainly SEO) we decided not to rename all the files to .aspx back when we originally converted the site. This was very easy to do by simply adding the buildProvider and httpHandler to the web.config.
Now I am upgrading the site to use Asp.net WebPages with Razor cshtml files. I can rename all the files if necessary, and use url rewriting to make the urls stay the same, however it would be much easier if I could just configure the web.config to tell it to parse .html files as if they were .cshtml. I have searched around quite a bit, and could not find anything equivalent to the PageHandlerFactory for razor pages. It appears as though it is just an internal mechanism in the .net 4.0 ISAPI handler.
The site is currently running on Windows 2003 server and IIS 6. We will be upgrading to 2008/IIS 7.5 in the near future, but I'd prefer not to wait for that. Is there any way to get the .html files to be parsed by razor as if they were .cshtml files?
I am not sure this is the forums but I dont know where to write this and this is an EMERGENCY ::I had windows 2003 server. on C: and I have installed windows 2008 server.I had SQL server installed and all of the database files stored inside c:program filessql server....PROBLEM is that after I installed 2008 server I can see 2 folders of program files one for x86 and the other for 64 bits.
I have a form with 10 file inputs. They can contain 10 random files with random sizes. If I send these files to ASP.NET server with this code:
var count = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Count; var TotalSize = 0; for (int i = 0; i < count; i++ ) { HttpPostedFile postedFile = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Get(i); TotalSize += postedFile.ContentLength; }
And as you can see I didn't save the files on the server, will this code just calculate the summary of files without need to receive the whole file from the client (And therefore it would be very fast)?
I am building an asp.net application that connects to an FTP server. On this FTP sever if has several files with varying file extensions. The paths to these files are stored in a sql table. These paths are loaded in a listview.
On click of a button in the listview i want to take the path, detect the file extension and then load the file from the ftp server.
eg if the file is a PDF file then onlick the user must see a pdf file loaded.
I have seen some examples on other sites , but since im not familiar enough with DirectoryInfo and Files from the System.IO namespace, i dont know how to change it to fit my needs. So i found a very simple example that works, but i have some questions.
Here is the code i found:
[Code]....
This works great and lists the files in my root directory.
#1 - What i need to know is how to accomplish the same thing but in a format i can control, this code simply displays the files at the top of my page and pushes everything down. So does anyone know of a good and simple tutorial written in C#?
#2 - I also need to be able to setup the code so that certain files within the directories are not displayed, as in the code behind files and other files to be determined by the business.
i have a requirement like...we display all the mp3 detaiils in a gridview...a link button or hyperlink is placed in the gridview..once the link button or hyperlink is clicked a seperate popup window shouls appear and respective songs or audio file should be played...
I want to upload .pdf or .doc files on server not in the Database, after then i have to show list of all the uploaded Files on another form and when user clicks on one of the Files, the file should be opened in new Tab...
I am able to delete the file from database but not from folder. I am also displaying the path in gridview bound field. How do i use Directory.Delete(path of file here)
I upload the file with fileupload control in the attachment folder. How can i open these file or to open the save/open dialogue box. tese fike are of different extension.
