Installation :: After Installing Server 2008 The Program Files Disapper With The SQL .MDF Files?
Nov 12, 2010
I am not sure this is the forums but I dont know where to write this and this is an EMERGENCY ::I had windows 2003 server. on C: and I have installed windows 2008 server.I had SQL server installed and all of the database files stored inside c:program filessql server....PROBLEM is that after I installed 2008 server I can see 2 folders of program files one for x86 and the other for 64 bits.
I have a VS2010 project that I want to move back and forth between an x86 and an x64 machine. On the x86 machine, several assemblies are located in Program Files, and the path of the assemblies are shown as c:Program Files...... When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86).... Is there a way that I can confugure VS2010 so I don't have to manually change the path when I move the project from one machine to another?

I am creating an application like youtube to store videos and I need some advice.Should I use SQL Server FileStream to store the video files or should I store them somewhere on the hard disk and record the path as a varchar(MAX) inside SQL Server?Which is recommended and why?Do you recommend something else apart from both these?
I manage a large asp.net site which has previously been converted from static html site to asp.net. For several reasons (mainly SEO) we decided not to rename all the files to .aspx back when we originally converted the site. This was very easy to do by simply adding the buildProvider and httpHandler to the web.config.
Now I am upgrading the site to use Asp.net WebPages with Razor cshtml files. I can rename all the files if necessary, and use url rewriting to make the urls stay the same, however it would be much easier if I could just configure the web.config to tell it to parse .html files as if they were .cshtml. I have searched around quite a bit, and could not find anything equivalent to the PageHandlerFactory for razor pages. It appears as though it is just an internal mechanism in the .net 4.0 ISAPI handler.
The site is currently running on Windows 2003 server and IIS 6. We will be upgrading to 2008/IIS 7.5 in the near future, but I'd prefer not to wait for that. Is there any way to get the .html files to be parsed by razor as if they were .cshtml files?
I have a form with 10 file inputs. They can contain 10 random files with random sizes. If I send these files to ASP.NET server with this code:
var count = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Count; var TotalSize = 0; for (int i = 0; i < count; i++ ) { HttpPostedFile postedFile = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files.Get(i); TotalSize += postedFile.ContentLength; }
And as you can see I didn't save the files on the server, will this code just calculate the summary of files without need to receive the whole file from the client (And therefore it would be very fast)?
I am trying to open different types of files that I have uploaded on my sql server database. I would like to display all the list of files in Gridview. I am running a web-site with simple .aspx files on a standalone workgroup Windows Server 2008 called 'Max'.I had assumed that the .aspx files were accessed by the 'Network Service' account.The application pool for the website is running with 'Network Service' as the process account.I was puzzled, since 'Network Service' had no permission on these files. So I added event level auditing to the files, and I was suprised to learn that the .aspx files were being accessed by an account called Max$ (ie the computer account).this correct ?Why is the Network Service account not being used ??

I am using Wix 3.6 for VS2010 to create MSI's for some applications. We are using heat.exe to harvest the files to be deployed, be it binaries or resource files.Currently this is a manual step, so each time there are new files added we run the command line.We copy the fragments from the wxs output file into our main project wxs file.Now I want to automate this a little further. I am able to use a prebuild event of the wixproj to run heat.exe and save the result wxs file.How do I go about compiling this wxs file so that it can be used in my main wxs file?

Previous developers have developed a .SSISDeploymentManifest file (SQL Server 2005) to install SSIS packages which prompts a Package Installation wizard. I tried to install it on SQL Sever 2008 (it works on SQL Server 2005), but it failed with the error: "Storing or modifying packages in SQL Server requires the SSIS runtime and database to be the same version. Storing packages in earlier versions is not supported".
How do I install 2005 SSIS packages on SQL Server 2008? I have all the .dtsx files, not sure how to install them?

I have been attempting to install sql server express 2008 but have come across problems. I downloaded it via web platform installer and it ran the install process, and I thought this would be it, but then upon creating some wizard log in controls on a website they won't work because its not installed. Then i relised I can't actually run the program, only some of its features. I then found the Installation centre and thought, oh I haven't actually installed it yet, and when I select new SQL server stand-alone installation or add features, instead of going through the process like it states on tutorials for installs, it asks me to browse for installation media, which I do not have because I downloaded the express edition.
I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?
I have trouble installing SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. I am using Windows XP SP3. I have also installed Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 SP1 just prior to installing SQL Server 2008. The following error messages appeared during installation:
