ddlTranscriptionMethod.Focus();
I am using asyncfileupload ajax control and can successfully upload and save picture on server.I need to do the following and not sure how:When user is in process of uploading, I only want them to see *.jpg *.gif and *.bmp files Once the user uploads their picture, how do I reduce the quality of the picture so it is less than 10 KB?
I have two lines of labels each in a Horizontal StackPanel. When they display there is a wide space (about an inch) between them. I can't figure out how to reduce this spacing. The height characteristics does not seem to do it.
I have an application that allows users to upload a pdf. I am saving the PDF into SQL (I know already this is not the best practice, but it was not my decision) and I need to some how duing this upload process reduce the size of the pdf. Is there a way to get the uploaded file, reduce its size, then stream it to SQL?
I have a variable called "Totaltime" in my program. I assign the variable (in seconds) as Totaltime = 3600. Now i want to reduce the time by 1 sec for each Tick event and show the reducing time in label or litera control. tell the C# ASP.NET coding to implement this?
I have a web application project on my dev PC running WinXP and hence IIS 5.1. The changes I'm making to this site seem to "take effect" only after I do IISRESET. That is, I make a source change, Rebuild the project and then Start without Debugging (or with debugging). The newly changed code is not "visible" or in effect unless I intervene with an IISRESET.
BTW, the "web" tab on the Properties display for the web app project is configured to use the Local IIS web server at project Url: http://localhost/myVirtualDirectory
...
but I've noticed the same issue when using the VStudio Dev Server (i.e. I have to stop it by visiting the taskbar tray area in order to see my source changes take effect).
Is this something I can change?
EDIT UPDATE:
Just wanting to clear this up if possible. Two answers diverge below; not sure how to move forward. One states this is to be expected (weakness of IIS 5.1 which in turn is the best WinXP can provide). Another states this is not expected behavior (and I tend to agree since this is the first I've encounted this on the same old WinXP dev platform I've had a long time). I suspect it may be something "deep inside" the Visual Studio 2008 web app which was upgraded to this new IDE from VStudio 2002 (ASP.NET 1.1). I've tried to add comment/questions down each answer path.
So far I am quite comfortable working with C# windows application. I am about to shift to Asp.net to develop a website. The requirement has made me to put around 50 columns in a single table. I know this concept of breaking it into small tables using normal forms.
I tried googling, but dint get much results. I need to know if my table with 50 attributes would decrease performance of my web application?
I am facing a problem related to webpage loading. After analysing the problem I got the conclusion that this is because of the use of third party control (Telrik Control) on the page.
it loads "ScriptResource.axd?d=VHFRlHPU4ruHmOYm-mEPLk5XeFL0XZCCksSiaq9cH120I4XzMjzdvS3A-Z1Q4FSlJuGkXycxn8tvOxEGZvni7w2&t=634068427680000000"
type of scripts on browser so it take time to load the page. Is there any way to reduce time of loading page?

I need to do parallel processing in my coding because i have 4 sql to fetch data from database which each take me 3-4 minutes. All the tables involved are raw table and that is no way i can reduce the time for the sql.I need to find a way out to reduce the data fetching time. The only thing i canfigure out is to have this 4 sql execute at the same time by doing parallel processing.
I'm looking for ways to reduce the size of my page . I have a page that just renders a gridview - no images - and it is over 400k!
Looking at the html that is generated I see the names of the controls in the gridview are very very long. For example: ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_releaseGV_ctl149_lblBuy
My gridview is about 200 rows by 13 columns = ~ 2600 spans with very long names rendered. The above example is 49 characters X 2600 controls = 127,400 characters just in control ID's!
The actual data on my page ins't anywhere near a tenth of that!
I am already storing viewstate on the server.
YES, I will put a pager on this page to bring down the number of rows. Also, I've seen sever other posts related to page size with some excellent content. I will follow up on them - however I have not seen this specific question answered.
Here is a sample of my page. As you can see there is not much data and a lot of html!
I am using a sql server 2008 database and I am uploading images to the server using an asp.net webapplication. I have an image column that I use to store the images. I have chosen the database to store the image and not a folder on the server, because the database table will contain only very few rows. maybe close to 10 or 15 rows.
My question is, Do I have to reduce the size (dimensions and quality affecting size on disc in kbs) of the image in code behind before uploading it to the database or do I keep it as is. The total upload size permitted is 200kb. I am thinking that when the image size (size in kbs) is small my webapplication performance will not be affected when displaying them from the database.
I have an asp.net application written in C# and need some help to fine tune it for better performance. All pages with in this web application have horizontal tab, left vertical menu panel , footer and header. Left menu panel changes as per top tab selection.

Its dimensions are 3008 x 1960, 1960 , 4000 x 2600. 6000 x 4000 . while uploading i am reducing the size of image to 400 x 266 or 266 x 400 depending on the height and width of image. but still my image size is about 227 KB. Now i want to reduce the image resolution to decrease the image size.
