Passing A Web Service An Unknown Number Of Parameters?
Apr 28, 2010I'm relatively new to utilizing web services. I'm trying to create one that will be accepting data from a ASP.Net form whose input controls are created dynamically at runtime and I don't how many control values will be getting passed. I'm thinking I'll be using jQuery's serialize() on the form to get the data, but what do I have the web service accept for a parameter? I thought maybe I could use serializeArray(), but still I don't know what type of variable to accept for the JavaScript array.
Finally, I was thinking that I might need to create a simple data transfer object with the data before sending it along to the web service. I just didn't wanna go through with the DTO route if there was a much simpler way or an established best practice that I should follow. Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide and let me know I wasn't clear enough,

if value in URL second parameter i.e mcat=cellphone then it must redirect to carriers.aspx. and if mcat=iphone then it must redirect to iphones.aspx page.
Problem:currently if in URL there are 3 parameters then it always goes to carriers.aspx as it searches in route table for 3 parameters it redirects to carriers.aspx which need to be conditionally redirected depending on mcat valuehow to do?

Dec 10, 2010I'm trying to use an objectdatasource and populate it with a query that has "or" in its where statement. eg: select * from customers where customer_id = "34" or "35" or "36"The problem is... I don't know ahead of time how many of these "or" conditions there will be - the user can choose as many or as few as they want. It seems that if I want to use an objectdatasource tied to a tableadpater I'm forced to know the number of parameters ahead of time so that I can build the objectdatasource's input parameters e.inputparameters.add doesn't work, because the key (in this case "id") is the same for each parameter because the where statment has "or"s....

I can successfully identify the submit button in the controll using the name and value attributes of the submit button, but how can I send the selected value of the dropdown control to the controller?

Sep 17, 2010our implementation of an mvc site is being done in a very weird way but none the less it is still mvc.
I have an issue that on a certain page, when you click a button to download a document, it retrieves from a web service a byte array of a document. This is not an issue as i pass this byte array into the view data to allow me to access it in our controller.
This is the code in the controller.

Now this all works ok but as expected the result is rendered out into the current window. Is there anyway at all i can trigger a new window to render out the document?

This poses a problem when my View wants to post to a different action. How can I fix this?

Jul 10, 2010 I am trying to implement a way to send email templates in my application and would like to populate an ActionResult view with data and then output the view HTML as a string to use as the body of my email. I found the following
blog post but have not been able to get it to work correctly in my app and was wondering if anyone had been able to implement something similar. The issue that I am running into is that I have created one controller, EmailController, to handle all generation and returning of the the view strings. So for instance if I am in my home controller and I have a contact form whose action is Contact when the user submits the contact form I want to call the email controller to get the correct action result for the email template and upon successful send of the email redirect the user to a success action on the home controller.

Feb 14, 2011I am lost, I am posing a jSon result to an MVC ActionResult and I cannot get it done. What I have is on the View:

With Firebug I can see that I am posting a jSon result with the result I selected. This result is comming from a select list(UnAssignedPages) as the items selected.
Now I want to iterate over that list in the controller and I cannot find an example of how to do it? I found a jSon value provider from Phil Haack [URL] but I was specifically told not to use the Futures Library. Is there any example of how to accept a jSon result in an ActionResult?
