Feb 1, 2011Like many organizations, our customer service department receives faxes and process them in many different ways. The faxes come in through a queue. The faxes are presented to the user through a windows interface.The user ties a customer number to the fax and is allowed to split the fax into several different pages if necessary. They then send these different pages to different people in the organization.Currently the windows application that process these faxes uses a product that use to be part of Windows called KODAK.
The hope is that the current windows tool could be converted into a web application that provides the same functionality that the windows application offers. a tool that could be utilized inside an ASP.Net web application that would allow the user to receive a fax and split it like KODAK does? This application needs to be built in-house because of the custom needs of our customers. Something imbedded in the ASP.Net application would work for us.

When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86).... Is there a way that I can confugure VS2010 so I don't have to manually change the path when I move the project from one machine to another?

May 6, 2010I'm needing to send around 500-2500 emails out at a time to internal email accounts. I'm wondering which was would be faster both for the mail server and for my client app. Should I send multiple emails with just different TO addresses, or just one with multiple BCC addresses? I tried testing this by sending a bunch to my own email and the multiple emails method work, but with the BCC and a single message I only get that single message in my inbox. Shouldn't I be getting as many copies as the number of times I put my address in the BCC line?

MVC :: Program Cannot Display The Webpage?
Nov 29, 2010I'm attempting to deploy my new MVC 2 app to a windows server 2003 box (IIS6). The app is on it's own web site, scripts and executable rights given, asp.net version set at 4.0.30319. ASP.NET MVC was installed via the web platform installer and server was since rebooted.
I've used this technique in the global.asax to put ".aspx" in the URLs:
[Code]....
No matter what i do I still get an error on Browse: "This Program cannot display the webpage." Times out in Firefox. This is constant if i do wildcard or .mvc mapping, suggesting it is an IIS problem.
Nothing in the event viewer that displays any info or any error.
Is there anything extra special that needs to be done to get IIS to recognize MVC?

the thing is when i press the green play button to run the debugger/program, it always executes "ConsoleApplication1" (look at the above image) when i want to try out the new application i wrote (named ConsoleApplication3)

Launch Program On Server Through Web?
Feb 7, 2011so I'm in a strange development situation and am a noob at the bits I'm tasked with - just to make life fun and interesting.
My fellow developer has written programs in VB.Net and placed them on the server. He wants a web front end that users can click a link and have that run the program on the server.
Sounds simple, but I've spent days searching the internet and found only two solutions one of which looks sketchy on security and the other is so complex I'm not sure how to make it fit my local variables.
I'm writing ASP.Net on an MVC Framework using C#.
So, in terms for the simple minded to understand, is there a way to do this? Are there links which I used the wrong keywords and completely missed?

One of the requirements we have is for in the pdf's to have a map of NY state with markers on it that are placed based on GIS Coordinates. For the web page we can do this easily with google maps. if there are any third party map generating solutions that can do this? We currently use map info and google maps, but I dont think either are capable of doing this?
