My kind webhost (1and1) royally asked me to go elsewhere to do something like this.
I have 2 sites. One of them was developed by a .Net programmer. Now I am contracted to implement a PHP site and fetch data from the .Net site.
There is an ASP.Net form that a customer fills and when they hit submit, the data gets stored in SQL Server DB. How do I also store the same data in MySQL parallelly? I cannot directly use some database connectors with ASP.Net since MySQL connectivity is not supported on 1and1 Windows hosting (biz account, no less!).
What I thought of is to publish an RSS feed of entries in ASP.Net site and routinely scrape that data into MySQL on Linux host. It is an overkill, I know. Not efficient.

I'm calling Another url from my web aspx page. I'm writing
[code]....
But I'm getting error
A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host 208.101.14.59:80
I tried the same url by pasting it on address bar and works fine. When I call my vendor they r saying that there is no any problem from their side. Someone has suggested me that there may be some settings in web.config.

A client has sent me their web site and I got it to work on my local machine, but after hosting it on my website under a sub domain I get the following error:Required permissions cannot be acquired.did some searching and tried messing with the trust tag in web.config, but then that told me:This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the site administrator has locked access to this section using from an inherited configuration file.

I'm receiving the following error from my hosting site:
Reference required to assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' containing the base class 'System.Web.UI.ExtenderControl'
The bin file with the toolkit has been uploaded to my site.
I'm using Web Developer 2010 Express and built my project for a target 3.50 framework which is the framework on my hosting site. I have about 8 pages that are working fine in prod.
The control works on my local machine.

I have one IIS entry with AppPool integrated mode. There are 5 or more host headers assigned. The application pulls data based on the host name from Request.Url.Host. When I have 2 or more sites open at the same time the value of the Request.Url.Host is the same across all the sites. About every 30 seconds it resets itself to the correct value from the last request and shows that value on the other sites. So ultimately the sites are loading the same data. The value in the HOST server variable is incorrect as well.

I'm getting a lot of these error messages in my logs on one of my servers and intermittently on two others.Googling didn't reveal very much information, mostly related to file uploads or downloads being interrupted. My pages are basically just text files with "ok" in them that only have .aspx extension for future plans, there's no actual code powering the pages. Servers are all Windows Server 2008 RC2 x64 running IIS7 / ASP.NET 4.Statistically it's happening well under 1% of the time but because of the volume of traffic that still clutters my event log with 2 or 3 of these messages per minute.Edit:tracked down the problem, setting buffering to true stopped it occurring.

I'm new to ASP and was hoping to get some hands-on experience of web development, but have been having trouble getting started.
I followed the instructions in the [URL] setup video, and downloaded and ran the plaform installer. I noticed that the "Web Platform" section of the installer was didn't have the "Web Server" section at the top, as shown on the instruction video [URL] but it otherwise seemed to install ok.
When I tried to follow the tutorial videos on [URL] using MS Visual Web Developer 2010, I am unable to debug the application. The web page it loads just says: "The webpage "localhost:xxxxx" cannot be found" (where xxxxx is the five digit random port number).
I've tried uninstalling Visual Web Developer, and the various Microsoft .NET and SQL Server using the Vista uninstall functionality of the control panel (as bet as I could -I'm not sure if there was something I missed), and then re-installing, but I still get the same problem.
I've tried to find a solution on some developer forums, and I noticed there are posts relating to webdev.webserver.exe relating to the error message I've been getting. However I haven't been able to find any info on this for VS 2010.
I've checked, and I don't have webdev.webserver.exe in C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedDevServer or in C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkV2.0.50727, although I do have WebDev.WebServer20 and WebDev.WebServer40. inC:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedDevServer 10 (I'm not sure if one of these is the equivalent files for VS2010.)
I've also made Internet Explorer my default web browser, since some of the forum posts mention this. My firewall is on, but I don't get any error messages relating to the firewall when I run the app. However, I wasn't sure whether there was a particular program I should add to my "allowed" list before running.
I ran the diagnostic tool: [URL] and I get the following output:
THE FOLLOWING SCRIPT will check to make sure that .NET Framework 3.5 is installed properly and will tell you what is not configured appropriately WINDOWS VERSION: 6.0.6002 POTENTIAL ERROR: REGISTRYDUMP: reg query "HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv2.0.50727" /v "SP"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv2.0.50727 SP REG_DWORD 0x2

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftNET Framework SetupNDPv3.0 SP REG_DWORD 0x2
ERROR: Netfx3.0 SP1 is not installed
I presume there's been some problem with installation and setup. However, I'm not sure what exactly I need to re-install (if anything) to fix it.

I'm want to run a "background job" in my ASP.NET application (periodically, as separate thread). And I need host name (DNS name or IP) to do my tasks. The problem - HttpContext.Current may be not available here (it's NULL).
Is there any way to get a host name in not using HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host.

Not sure if this is the right forum area for this question, so feel free to move it where it needs to be.I have a client that has asked to move an existing ASP-based website to a new web host. I've done host transfers before, but never an ASP-driven one.
So my questions are:
- Is there a way I can download the whole site as it exists and "test" it on my local machine somehow? (without having to install IIS preferebaly, it might already be installed to be honest)
- I'm sure the website uses a database back-end as it uses a CMS. What issues will I run into with regards to getting an identical database created on the new web host? Thanks all. I'm not feeling good about this transfer for some reason, mainly because I'm not that fluent with ASP, so if something doesn't transfer smoothly, I'm scared I may not be able to "fix" it in a timely manner.

Is it true that ASP.NET and IIS hosting is more more expensive that PHP and Apache? Say I want to host a dedicated server, then will the difference be that big?
- Another thing, do I really need a license for SQL Server database and IIS or something like that when I pay for a company for the dedicated server or they will pay that?

I have heard of the pains of setting up IIS. On a windows box, can I simply drop a ASP.NET application into Apache server and have it work? Or are there any other server alternatives? I am relatively new to web server concepts. I have heard suggestions for the server in mono but it doesn't seem practical using mono on a windows box, I could use a Linux box with mono, which wouldn't surprise me if it worked better then a windows solution, but for arguments sake this question is directed towards a windows box.

Now I want to set up a web server on my pc and host this site so that i can access this site from this or any other computer on the network.
I searched the internet and found many articles on it. Accordingly I tried to add a new site through the IIS Manager dialog box. But things did not work out.

I am new to asp.net mvc and don't feel too comfortable to diving 100% into silverlight web application. I done some research and found that asp.net mvc can host silverlight application. That is great new since I want to leverage new technologies.
However, silverlight currently does not support printing and SSRS reporting. My question, can asp.net mvc hosts multiple applications like both silverlight and regular asp.net applications. I can design the asp.net application to handle the reporting and printing.
