JQuery :: Can Upload Files Through XML Web Service?

Mar 3, 2011

I am submitting my form's data that are input from textbox, dropdownlist, radiobuttons etc. to database using a XML web method which is submitting data asynchronously.Obviously page is not posted back and html input field's data are captured through javaScript code. Then with the javaScript code an XML Web Method is called with those input fields passed as parameters.

Upto this point everything is fine since all data that i have to submit is of string type.

But how can i upload attachments ? Thing is that i have to upload multiple attachments and all the attachments will be submitted when user clicks Submit button on the form.

When user clicks submit button on the form all form data and all files selected will be saved in the database through a XML web Serice which submits data asynchronously.

How can i upload files through XML Web Service ?

JQuery :: How To Upload Files In Browser Cache To Get File Size On Client Side

Apr 1, 2011

My requirement is to get the file size in client side. there is no problem in FF but in IE you can't do that unless u r using an activeX object. So we thought of putting it in browser cache and reading the file size from there and when we post it to the server we will be taking it from the cache and send it to the server.

AJAX :: File Upload Control Not Working In Update Panel?

Feb 15, 2011

I have 3 upload controls ,one listbox and two button controls in page. One button control named Attach has the code to add the files to listbox form 3rd file upload control and the 2nd button control named Save has the code to save the files of 1st and 2nd file upload controls in application folder and items of listbox to database.

The issue is couldn't maintain the state of 1st and 2nd file upload controls after browsing the files to file upload controls and clicking on Attach button control to add file name to listbox which was browsed by 3rd file upload control. So i placed the 3rd file upload control, Attach button and listbox in update panel but its not working. My requirement is when clicked on save button files of 1st and 2nd file upload controls in application folder and items of listbox to database, but 1st and 2nd file upload controls will loose the files as soon as Attach button is clicked to add filename of 3rd fileupload control to listbox.

AJAX :: JQuery Plugin Not Working With TabContainer?

Oct 11, 2010

I have an asp.net TabContainer control on my page (web forms). The TabContainer has two tabs and works fine. The first tab just contains text, the 2nd tab however, contains a JQuery image slider plugin which I used from here [URL]

The slider works fine on a normal page, if even works fine on the first tab. However, I cannot get it to work on the second tab. I've read that it's something to do with the fact that the second tab is inactive on load, therefore its display is set to none.

JQuery / AJAX Is Working On IIS5.1 But Not In IIS6?

Jun 7, 2010

I'm running a weird issue here. I have code that makes jquery ajax calls to a web service and dynamically adds controls using jquery. Everything works fine on my dev machine running IIS 5.1, but not when deployed to IIS 6. I'm using VS2010/ASP.Net 4.0, C#, jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.1. I'm using the same browser for each.

It partially works though. The code will add the controls to the page, but they aren't visible until I click them (they aren't visible though). I thought this was a css issue, but the styles are there too.

The ajax calls look like this:

[code]...

After checking everything in Fiddler and finding no differences, I tried it in Firefox, where it worked. Got me to thinking and sure enough, I was wrong, IE WAS going into compatibility mode. apparently by default it will use compatibility mode on the intranet, but not localhost (which happened to be the different versions of IIS). I tried IE7 and got the same thing. I need to change my code to make sure it works on IE7 as well.
