View 5 RepliesI have developed an application in asp.net with crystal report. It has more than 30 pages in the project. Now I want to improve the performance of the application.1. What I need is , I want to know each and every page loading time and where actually it take long time to load while requesting the page.There are so many tools available. But am not able to follow as where actually the problem is and how to solve.
View 6 Repliesi currently use the context.timestamp function to get the time in the beginning of the request but i want to know if i can check the time sooner in the pipeline (before the load page phase) or the timestamp is the earlier time i can get. now i need to find the latest time after the request was processed, of course i can check the time in the end of the function, but is there somewhere else where i can check the time of the request ending.
View 3 RepliesI have an ASP.NET website that worked fine using and debugging in VS2008. I went through the upgrade process opening the solution in VS2010. I can run the site, but as I make changes in the app_code folder classes, they don't seem to commpile and warn me of compile-time errors. As soon as I get to a point that calls the class, the errors show up. Sounds JIT I guess, but this isn't how it was working in 08. Is there an option that was changed in the upgrade process? This is a large project, I really don't want to break something and not find out until some obscure page is opened.
View 1 RepliesIs there any way I can figure out that the page is loading for the first time in the web browser. We are deploying in a web farm scenario and doing some crazy operations with our website and it has become hard for me to figure out how to know that the website is loaded th e first time in the browser.
Also is there any way I can clear cache as old data keeps on getting displayed.
I am facing a problem related to webpage loading. After analysing the problem I got the conclusion that this is because of the use of third party control (Telrik Control) on the page.
it loads "ScriptResource.axd?d=VHFRlHPU4ruHmOYm-mEPLk5XeFL0XZCCksSiaq9cH120I4XzMjzdvS3A-Z1Q4FSlJuGkXycxn8tvOxEGZvni7w2&t=634068427680000000"
type of scripts on browser so it take time to load the page. Is there any way to reduce time of loading page?
I recently re-develop our company's web system. However, when I just finished everything, our internal user complains that the page is noticable slower than the old one. I tested it on my machine and it seems to be ok. As it is a major concern of my manager, I decide to add a bit of code to return the time comsumed in page loading. Can someone give some idea about it? What I try to know is: from the time user click on "submit" button until the page is fully loaded to the user, how many seconds it costs. I have ajax in the page. Is it possible to do it in js? or any other sort of way is fine too.
View 10 RepliesI have noticed two time-related problems with my website:
[1] Slowness of loading the graphics for each page in the browser;
[2] Receiving a "Runtime Error" page in the browser when I do take action on the site (e.g. navigate to another page) within approx. 30 seconds.
Are these problems related to limitations of my web host?
Sometimes master page makes the application slow according to the page load time in respect to individual page.
How to overcome this problem?
I am dynamically creating a table of checkboxes on my test.aspx page. The dimensions (row and column count) of the table are determined by querying the database. In test.aspx page, I do the following:
<script language="C#" runat="server">
protected void Page_Load ( object src, EventArgs e ) {
//Query the database to get the data for rows and columns
CheckBox[] chkBox = new CheckBox[rows * columns]; //creates a collection of checkboxes
//Iterate over the query set in a double for loop to create dynamic checkboxes
}
</script>
Right now I have the number of rows=20 and columns=10, but it can increase (with the columns more likely). I used the Net tab in Firebug to ascertain the time taken by different events and found that GetTest.aspx is taking close to 4 minutes, which is too long a time to wait. Is there a way to being down the page load time? Is my approach to create dynamic check boxes correct?
I know you can do paging in gridview but is there a way which allows u to load one page ie page 1 and then when the user select page 2 it loads that page...because I will have 100,000 rows and I dont want to load all of them.. But I need to show all, so is there a way which u can do paging which allows u to load a page at a time?
View 2 Replieslast from the few days I am getting the following error in my production server("Index was outside the bounds of the array".).The follwoing error is coming in the webpartclass before adding the usercontrol to webpart.Strangely when the page is loading first time it is working fine with out any error.After 5,6 clicks in my page the above error is coming. It is working fine in my local machine and in development server.
The problem is only in production server.
base.CreateChildControls(); OTBTWorkshop = (UserControl)Page.LoadControl(@"~/_layouts/UserControls/tets/teest.ascx"); this.Controls.Add(OTBTWorkshop);
I am making one application where i am fetching huge data from database to gridview.
for this it was taking some 30 to 40 seconds. so instead of showing nothing in the page
I am using update panel and update progress bar.
everything is ok but when progress image is showing in the page that time it's moving only one time and stop and before completing page postback.
Here is my code:
<asp:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server">
</asp:ToolkitScriptManager> <div><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance();
var popup = $find('<%= modalPopup.ClientID %>');
prm.add_initializeRequest(InitializeRequest);
[Code] ....
And here is my code behind:
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
con.Open();
SqlCommand com = new SqlCommand("select * from processdailydata", con);
SqlDataAdapter sda = new SqlDataAdapter(com);
DataSet ds = new DataSet(); sda.Fill(ds);
GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); con.Close(); }
i want to show progress image move regularly untile page load is not finished.
Displaying loading gif image whenever my page takes time to load but not for particular single control. i had seen this. URL...but it working for button , can i check it for my whole page and all controls whenever it takes times to load.
View 1 RepliesAs that title says my aspx page shows a compile error on the @Page directive that says "ASP.NET runtime error: Cannot load file or Assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser' or one of it's dependencies". The project compiles with our error and it runs with no problem. The only real problem that this causes it that the intellisense for anything other than simple HTML is broken so I can't type asp:Controlname and have intellisense show me a the list of items or properties in a control. I get a green squiggly line under all the asp tags saying "Unrecognized tag prefix or device filter 'asp'". This project doesn't directly use SQL SMO but it does reference a project that does. However, I removed that reference and the problem still doesn't go away. I have installed on my development machine the full SQL client and for both SQL 2005 and 2008 (including the SDK) from the Developer editions of both versions. This was not a problem on VS2005 and the project compiles without error in VS2010 too.
View 1 Replieswhen i am runnig the project, the crystal report(rpt) file will taking too much time for loading on first time... any one please help me to avoid the time delay for loading the rpt file in first time .
View 2 RepliesI have set Private Memory limit of 200mb in IIS 7 for an application pool. The Private Working Set memory(Task Manager) for the application is always below 125mb but the number of page faults have increased a lot and application cache is getting cleared frequently after setting the limit.
I haven't set any limit on Virtual Memory.why the cache is getting cleared even when the Private memory used is below the allocated memory?
I have a very strange problem with my website... I created a rather large page, consisting of a few tables with some labels and textboxes where the user can enter a mechanical car setup (it's for a racing game).
I was working with simple textboxes previously, but I recently switched over to a NumericBox control which should allow only numeric input using some client-side javascript. The NumericBox control is simply a UserControl with a single TextBox on it, and some client side events are added to this textbox which call methods from a single javascript file ("Scripts/numericValidator.js")
When I put a couple of these boxes on a page it works just fine, I can only enter numbers. For it to work though I need to add the script to the page and I do that using this line, either in the head content or in the body content controls:
asp Code:
<script src="../../Scripts/numericValidator.js" type="text/javascript" />
(the path is chosen with the 'Pick URL' dialog so it should be alright, and it does indeed need to go up two directories first as the page is in the '~/Pages/RequireLogon" directory) However, after replacing most of the textboxes on my large page with NumericBoxes, and adding this script line to my aspx code, the design view is 'broken'. I cannot see any of my controls anymore, and I cannot even put any new controls on there. It seems like the Content control is missing, even though it's still there just fine without errors in the aspx code.
When I remove the script line, the problem is fixed again, the controls re-appear. So it's definitely the script line causing the problem, but I cannot see how it could...I tried it with a new blank page and the problem appears there too. If I use this simple page with just a button:
[Code]....
[Code]....
I'm wanting to insert some javascript in the body of a page using ClientScript.Register..() when a user returns to it (either by back button or on link click). When I use the back button the inline server script is never hit in debug. Any way to get the server to evaluate the code every single time the user is directed to that page.

View 2 RepliesWe have installed a web site written by others which is compiled with Visual Studio 2008 and hosted in Windows server 2008 R2.
The IIS connection timeout is set to 120 seconds. But for some pages, the first page loading fails with HTTP 404 error but sequential refresh can bring the page up. The same problem happens for some images which fail to load in web pages. We are not very sure it is network related issue or hosting issue.
I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.
I ve an issue of uploading an .xls file to the server and picking it from server and loading the record to a table in the datatbase from the server. The code works on the application system but after publishing it i ve an error that read Could not find a part of the path 'C:inetpubwwwrootEngineDbUploads634207083546865207.xls'. please can any one put me through on how to sort this out. below is the code
protected void btnUpload_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string FileName = FileUpload1.PostedFile.FileName;
string saveDir = @""; string appPath = Request.ApplicationPath; string savePath = appPath + saveDir + Server.HtmlEncode(FileUpload1.FileName); String fileExtension = string.Empty; String path = Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/"); //try //{ //
The Files is not supported.You can only upload .xls Files format."; //} } //check if Files to be uploaded is with the extenstion name
xls. bool CheckFilesType(string FileName) { return Path.GetExtension(FileName).ToLower() == ".xls"; }
I want to display a loading animation while my page is loading, and when loading is complete then obviously hide it.
I am working in ASP.NET using Masterpages, just wondering there is a a simple way of doing this using JQuery?
I am using a fileloader to load a photo into a folder,but, I am having difficulty getting the photo to appear in the imagebox on the form. This is the code I'm using
Protected Sub btnup_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnup.Click, btnup.Click
If FileUpload1.HasFile Then
Try
FileUpload1.SaveAs("C:inetpubwwwrootwebapplication1images" & _
FileUpload1.FileName)
Label1.Text = "File name: " & _
[Code]..
For some reason I am being told that the image part of image.file is error BC30561: 'Image' is ambiguous, imported from the namespaces or types 'System.Web.UI.WebControls, System.Drawing'.
