How can I use Order by on the result of a LinQ to SQL query ?
I have the following Situation:
Dim ret As New Object
ret = From status In tableStatus _
Select status.STATUS_ID, _
Text = Function_GetText(status.TEXT_ID)
Now I have to order this result on the field Text, has anyone an idea? (I can't use in my case Orde by Function_GetText(status.TEXT_ID))
I have a Datatable that contains a column called Tags, Tags can have values such as
row[0] = Tag1
row[1] = Tag1, Tag2
row[2] = Tag2, Tag3
row[3] = Tag1, Tag2, Tag3
row[4] = Tag4, Tag6
and are seperated by comma's etc..
I have the value of Tags for the current document and have run a query to select all other documents that have either of the Tags in there row. for example lets say the current document Tags are (Tag1, Tag2, Tag3)
so from the example rows above all the rows above are returned apart from row[4] Here is the bit i'm lost with, i now want to sort the datatable by how many tags are matched with the current document. so for the example i've talked about so far they should be ordered
row[3] = Tag1, Tag2, Tag3
row[1] = Tag1, Tag2
row[2] = Tag2, Tag3
row[0] = Tag1
Not used linq before but was told it could do this. so far i have
var query = from c in dt.AsEnumerable()
orderby c.Field<string>("Tags").CompareTo(dr["Tags"]) ascending
select c;
I'm looking to translate an SQL query into linq
INNER JOIN Usrs ON
SAQ.UserId =
Usrs.UserId AND Scan.UserId =
Users.UserId
I'm not sure how to include the "AND" in the LINQ statement.
i am making a website and i get a requirement that in GridView or ListView whatever control you used but the column is dragable means the order of the column can be change by drag and drop.Along with that i want to give option to the client that add more column if he check mark some column then that column should be added client side.So i am looking for some dll in ASP.NEt or Jquery for <table> Operation or javascript anything help me out
View 1 RepliesI've added the Dynamic.cs file to my project and have set it's Build Action = Compile in order to get the System.Linq.Dynamic namespace.
However, when I try to use any of the new code I am getting an ambiguous call error; see below.

Is there a way I can sort this query result in Linq? I'd like to sort in descending order by the .Count parameter:

I want to use "if statement" in Linq query. How can I do this situation?
For example:
if txtAge.Text=="", I will not use that in Linq Query.
else txtAge.Text!="", I will use that in Linq Query.
I have a collection of objects that I want to use LINQ in order to filter out only objects that have properties that meet a certain criteria. I am not big on LINQ so I am not sure how to do this.
I create a basic LINQ statement and get the records this way
Dim lr As IEnumerable(Of LogRecord) = From rr In _logRecords where rr.username="something"
but I only want to add that where condition if someone actually filled in a textbox.
I have other conditions to do the same thing with.
i use below code
HTML Code:
(From r In tblRoles
Join m In module_master On m.module_id Equals r.module_id
Where Not r.role_name.ToUpper.Contains("OWNER") And Not r.role_name.ToUpper.Contains("CLIENT")
Order By m.module_name, r.role_name
Select r.module_id, m.module_name ,r.role_name
).Distinct
and output is
[code]....
but when i remove distinct then order by works properly..???
I've build a linq query.But i want a random selection so its not always ID : 1,2,3,4,5,6 How can i randomize this var? I like to bind it to a repeater.//TagCloud:
Random rand = new Random();
var tc1 = from i in JumpTide.cms.menu.GetMenuItems(32)
select new
[code]...
select Groupid,GroupName,onorusername from palgroup where groupid in (select distinct Groupid
View 5 RepliesOrder by descending is not working on LINQ to Entity In the following Query In place of ascending If I keep descending it is not working.

I have an Entity class which has a Dictionary of fields called Data. Now I want to sort Entities by a field in Data. I was able to verify the Linq expression for using fields in a dictionary as e.Data["UserId"] as this seemed to work perfectly when I used LINQ to Objects. e.g. Entities.OrderBy(e => e.Data["UserId"])
However this same expression does not generate the correct NHibernate criteria and errors out finally with a NullReferenceException for propertyName at Hibernate.Loader.Criteria.CriteriaQueryTranslator.GetEntityName(ICriteria subcriteria, String propertyName)in CriteriaQueryTranslator.cs: line 541.
On debugging through NHibernate code, I figured that NHibernate.Linq.Visitors.MemberNameVisitor.GetMemberName(ICriteria rootCriteria, Expression expr) returns a null string in place of the field name after visiting expr using its visitor. This seems to be the cause of grief. I am using an older version of NHibernate (2.1). Are there any limitations in the NHibernate Linq visitor I should be aware of?
i have stored in the database as location India,Tamilnadu,Chennai,Annanagar while i bind in the grid view it ll be displaying as 'India,Tamilnadu,Chennai,Annanagar' this format.
but i need to be displayed as 'Annanagar,Chennai,Tamilnadu,India' in this format. how to perform this reverse order in query or in c#
note: this is stored under one column as 'India,Tamilnadu,Chennai,Annanagar' with comma separated.
How do I translate the following query into LINQ to SQL?

I am binding a Gridview to a custom object. But the order of fields displayed is not correct. Is there any way to set the fields display order when binding a Gridview to a custom object?
View 3 Repliesthe Document Rank column is numeric and contain the values are 2,1,0,4,0,5,3,0,6
we need to get the document rank with the following orders 1,2,3,4,5,6,0,0 how can i do this?
I am facing a big problem with simple linq query.. I am using EF 4.0..
I am trying to take all the records from a table using a linq query:
var result = context.tablename.select(x=>x);
This results in less rows than the normal sql query which is select * from tablename;
This table has more than 5 tables as child objects (foreign key relations: one to one and one to many etc)..
This result variable after executing that linq statement returns records with all child object values without doing a include statement.. I don't know is it a default behavior of EF 4.0 . I tried this statement in linqpad also..but there is no use... But interesting thing is if I do a join on the same table with another one table is working same is sql inner join and count is same..but I don't know why is it acting differently with that table only.. Is it doing inner joins with all child tables before returning the all records of that parent table?
I am writing a linq query to select a blogpost,
[code]....
The blogpost i am testing got 3 tags attached to it. The table structure is:
(table)BlogPost -> (table)BlogPostTags <- (table)Tags
So the BlogPostTags table only contains 2 fields, BlogPostID and TagID.
When i run the query above i get 3 results back. Same blogpost 3 times but with 1 tag in each. It should return 1 post with 3 tags. The problem lies in the Tags query above.
i want to select three records order by Date .This is my News table.
NewID NewTitle NewContent NewDate
1 Example ExampleContent 01.12.2010
2 Example2 ExampleContent2 02.12.2010
3 Example3 ExampleContent3 03.12.2010
4 Example4 ExampleContent4 04.12.2010
So,query selects example4,example3 and example2.
The problem is I had to create a draftResult class in order to show data that resides in two different tables using linq which means if i want to add or remove a column i will need to do so in the draftresult and in my linq. Here's what my setup looks like: I have two tables (draft, lookUpStatus)
draft table columns
idname,status id
lookupStatus
idtitle
public class draftResult {
public string draftName {get; set;}
public string status {get; set;}
}
I want to list the draft name and the status title in a table view. In order to do this, I wrote the following linq in a method in my sqlRepository class and return it to a IQueryable<draftResult>. My controller instanstiates the sqlRepository object and invokes GetDraftListing().
public class sqlRepository {
private Table<Draft> _draft;
private Table<LookUpStatus> _lookupubStatus;
public IQueryable<draftResult> GetDrafLtisting() {
return (from draft in _draft
join status in _lookuptatus
on draft.StatusID equals status.ID
select new draftResult
{
draftName = draft.name,
status = status.Title
});
}
}
The above process works but does not seem as flexible and i'm trying to get a better understanding of MVC and LINQ.

The above table is just a sample table.
I have more than 1000 Order in my table. And for each Order there are at least 12 Order Detail is available in my Order Detail Table. It uses to take long time on loading the report for the first time. So, I thought to select Top 20 records from Order table. I have used the below query in crystal report command
Select Top 20 O.OrderNo, O.Product, O.Date, O.Qty,OD.Unit,OD.Rate from Order O
inner join Order Detail OD on O.OrderNo = OD.OrderNo
1. After execution of above query, I would like to know whether all the records from Order Detail Table will be checked during execution (OR) only matching Top 20 records of Order Table will be checked in Order Detail Table and executed?
2. How to use stored procedure in Crystal Report command?
3. What are the steps I need to take, to load Crystal report fast during first time page load?
I am building an invoice system for a client and I am having trouble with the web forms related to the INSERT new order query.Basically I want to build up the order query from the selections made and then store it all in db at the end.
I don't want to use temporary db storage because it's a wasted trip to the server, I don't want to use session state because it's not data about the user I'm storing.... Unless I'm wrong, from what I've read I think query string is my best method since the data is not sensitive, it will just be primary keys and the like.
On the first form, the user will select the customer id from a datagrid displaying all customers. The next form allows them to choose the product from a datagrid showing all products and so on.... How do I pass this information across several pages?
My hope is at the end I will be able to take all the values and insert them into the corresponding tables to make up the customer order.
I have the follow grid
<asp:GridView ID="dgParticipante" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
