View 2 RepliesI have 2 Tables , OrderDetails and Requests In my LINQ to SQL dbml file. OrderDetailsID is a foreign key in Requests Table. I want to write the query to get the sum of UnitCost from OrderDetails based on OrderId. And If there is a row in Requests Table for each OrderDetailsID, and the Requests.Last.RequestType="Refund" I want to reduce the total refund amount from the main sum otherwise If there is no row based on OrderDetailsID, add to sum. Here is the way I implement that. I am looking to prevent using "For each".

View 3 Repliesi am using the inbuilt database in VS08. I was trying to write code to query Gridview control to show only those rows whom i specify through my Query.
I searched for it and found some code which might work for External databases. But found no code for inbuilt database MS SQL Server provided in VS08.
Also there is no such method available for GridView1 object.

We have an application developed on VS2008 [Asp.Net & C#], in this application we provide the facility to the user to write his/her business logic code. For that purposes we maintained a Businesslogic.cs file where user can write his/her code and our application build it as a BusinessLogic.dll file at runtime.
But the problem is when we introducing Linq statement/code into the BusinessLogic.cs file then it generated compilation error [CS1026 ].
Note that, when we build the dll from VS2008 environment then it working fine with the same code which we write into the BusinessLogic.cs & don't generated any compilation error.

I have 3 tables (ShoppingCart, Data, Temporary) in database (Entities) I have no problems in getting data into ShoppingCart. I also know how to transfer data from columns in table ShoppingCart into columns of table Temporary (like EngName, CartID, Date, Quantity etc. - see code below) But I do not know how to multiply Quantity in table ShoppingCart by Price stored in table Data and save it into table Temporary. I am getting a compiler error saying i can't assign type System.Linq.IQueryable<string> to string.

I have to get the maximum of these two select values. The select values are nullable. How do I go about checking if the value is null before calling the Max() method on it? I tried the ?? coalesing operator (example: e.HomeSales.Max() ?? 0M,) but I get the following error:"Operator '??' cannot be applied to operands of type 'decimal' and 'decimal'"

NOTE: The litEmpty.Text in code is assigned the non-breaking space character
Anyway when the table is created and displayed, the empty row is not displayed.

I have two tables in a database and I want to select one value from one of that table. For that I want to pass one value and if that value stored in the table I want pick the id representing the value in the next table.
That means the operation is that first I select a row of data from first table by using a user control in that row there is a value (example "apple") and I want pass that value("apple") to the second table. In the second table the value ("apple") having a id (example "australian") and I want that the query search for that id ("australian") and show that in the text box.
