Web Forms :: Crate A Table At Runtime With Empty Rows?
Aug 11, 2010
I have a table on my web form that I need to populate at runtime. I can do this ok and add controls to it, and all works well. However in between each row in the table I am trying to insert an empty row using the following:
[Code]....
[Code]....
NOTE: The litEmpty.Text in code is assigned the non-breaking space character
Anyway when the table is created and displayed, the empty row is not displayed.

I am creating a web application that displays URL to users in a GridView. The application has a code behind that will be doing the processing before it can return me a URL. This is done in a loop. So it looks something like :
[Code]....
What I wanted is to make the Gridview always update the rows everytime an item in the loop is done instead of waiting for the loop to finish.
For now, the application will only display the whole table until the code/loop finishes. I'm very much aware that this will happen because the web page is static in the first place. Does anybody know how to do this?
I have tried of using iframes(I thought of reloading the frame so the whole page wont reload again and a new GridView table would appear because of the code in Page_Load event because I tried placing the data in a separate static class and the GridView.aspx page will just retrieve the values upon every reload)
and I'm not sure how to implement AJAX/Javascript with this. Is Animation involved in this kind of situations?

I am using a GridView on my ASP.NET form.
Would it be possible to have a GridView with 10 empty rows, having 5 columns.
Can I define the number of GridView Rows I could Edit.
i would then have an Update Button, which would update all the rows to the database.

I am trying to show the footer template of a gridview on page load when there is no data in the database. The reason why im saying page load is that I have code to actually pull data from the database instead of a datasource.

Button clickedButton = sender as Button;
GridViewRow row = (GridViewRow)clickedButton.Parent.Parent;
int rowID = Convert.ToInt16(row.RowIndex);
GridView1.DeleteRow(rowID);
}
<asp:GridView ID= "GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="true" OnRowDeleting="RowDeletingEvent">

I have two possible header rows for a DataTable that I build dynamically. Setting the value of a cell works fine. Adding the cell to a TableRow works fine. The problem comes in where I have to build a second possible header row that uses the same cell.
An example is below.
trHead1 = New TableRow
trHead2 = New TableRow
tcCalc = New TableCell
tcCalc.Text = "Rates"
trHead1.Cells.Add(tcCalc)
trHead2.Cells.Add(tcCalc)
As soon as I make the second row add the cell, the cell disappears from the first row. This really doesn't make sense to me but that seems to be the way it is. If there is a work around other than duplicating the lines;
tcCalc = New TableCell
tcCalc.Text = "Rates"

I 'm curious to know how I could hide rows in my <table> in logical cases where, for instance, I have a list of radio buttons and depending on whether the user selects "Yes", the row below it appears for them to fill in some information.

I am dynamically creating a table that contains a textbox in each cell. The table is put in a placeholder control. Everything displays perfectly. The problem is when I go to retrieve the values entered in the cells. I have the code to generate the table in a separate method called CreateTable(). In order for my program to find a table in the placeholder when I go to save, I have to run CreateTable() in a postback event AND in the PageLoad event. If I call CreateTable() in only one of those places and I try to save, it says the placeholder is empty and, therefore, I cannot save the textbox contents. I've tried calling CreateTable() from InitLoad but that doesn't work because it needs to reference values from three static controls: 1 dropdown, 1 listbox, and 1 calendar control, which I don't believe have had their viewstate rendered yet.

i am using the inbuilt database in VS08. I was trying to write code to query Gridview control to show only those rows whom i specify through my Query.
I searched for it and found some code which might work for External databases. But found no code for inbuilt database MS SQL Server provided in VS08.
Also there is no such method available for GridView1 object.

I have a textbox named txtOrderDate on my web page. I have a VB.net subroutine that saves various textboxes from my web page to my SQL table using a stored procedure. If a valid date is entered into txtDate, then my save works correctly. I have a column named OrderDate in my table. This is the column I am saving txtOrderDate to. OrderDate is defined as a date column and null is allowed.
But if txtorderDate is blank, my subroutine bombs saying cannot convert string to date. I tried various things like making the value of txtDate = DBNull.value if blank but nothing works. Seems like there would be an easy way to do this.

I have a table thats created dynamically, the table gets its contents from a custom class I've created that gets statistical data from a database. As the table is generated dynamically, I've put the contents class (the table data) into a session object and I populate the table initially inside a !IsPostback then on the page init I get the data from the session (its empty on the firts page load). I am now getting this error: Multiple controls with the same ID 'controlnamehere' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. How can I avoid this?

I have an asp:Table and around the mid point of the table there is a DDL with values 2-5. What I want to do is add the selected amount of rows using AJAX right after the table row that has the DDL in it. I know how to dynamicly crate the rows, the info in the rows, and how to use AJAX to make things. Problem is I can not put the ContentTemplate tag inbetween the asp:TableRow which would mark the location I want the dynamic rows to start being added. I did some searching on here but most posts I find start with making the table from code and not the asp:Table tag

I am trying to delete or add rows in a table but since the table is in an update panel,upon deletion the row goes away and then comes back.I have tried using return false but it does not seem to work in IE or FF.
I am using the following code:
$(document).ready(function () {
$(.table).click (function ()}
(this).parent().remove();
[code]...
Basically I need a way to disable the postback.
