ADO.NET :: Merge Data From Two Different Databases With The Same Schema?
Sep 3, 2010
I am writing an iPhone web app for tracking business mileage. The app uses AJAX and HTML 5 manifest caching to enable offline use. The data is stored on the server in a SQL Server database with the following schema:
When there is no network available, the app stores new data in a local database with the same schema using SQLite on the iPhone. Once a connection is aquired, the app automatically uploads the new data to the main database for permanent storage.
Now, here's the question: I have data from two databases with the same schema. How do I merge the new data into the main database using LINQ? The primary key IDs in the new data must be discarded and regenerated by the main database so that there are no ID conflicts, but the two relationships must be maintained properly.
I have been trying to get a mysql database to connect to visual studio 2008 so I can use the ASP.net administration tools. I have researched this error for two days now and have tried every suggestion I could find. I am not 100% sure where the .dll's belong but I am pretty sure they are in the correct place and incase not I have added them into a bin folder inside my web application. the only other thing I can think is that maybe my mysql and mysql connector versions dont match. I am currently using mysql version 5.1.54 and my connector version is 6.3.6.0. Also I have successfully conencted to my database in the server explorer and it has already autogenerated the necassary tables into my database. It says my error is on line 59 so here is the code associated with my line 59.
I am trying to implement a super simple MySQL membership. All I want my Membership class to do is ValidateUser. Here is my method:
[Code]....
When I try loggin in, I get the following error: I have added the MySQL.Web and MySQL.Data references. I also have auto generate schema set true. What am I doing wrong ? Here is my Users table (created by myself), where the user login details are saved:
I have a SQL Server 2008 DB with many tables filled with data and I used SQL Server Management Studio to generate a SQL dump by using the Script Wizard : Tasks -> Generate Scripts -> Script All objects in the selected database and also selecting the option to Script Data. I made sure to change the value of "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2008". Then I created a new DB and ran the SQL dump on the new DB to generate an identical copy of the old DB. Then I assigned permissions to my default user to the new DB. Then I changed the connection string on my ASP.NET application to use the new DB. But when I run it, it throws the following exception -

However, the current database schema is not compatible with this version. I'm used to MySQL and PHPMyAdmin - I had to switch over to MSSQL for an ASP.net project, and I'm having tons of trouble. I'm using the express version of SQL 2008, with SQL Server Management Studio. The following are 2 questions I've been struggling with for a while:
1) How do I export the DB schema for the database? The table structure, etc.?
2) How do I export all the data in the database?
Ideally I'd like to have a .sql file that can be run wherever I need the schema or data duplicated, for example a co-worker's computer for a shared project, or online when the project is being hosted.
i want to develop a data access layer ,it can support multiple database like oracle ,Mssqlserver and Mysql using enterprise library and C#.net 3.5 based on database connection
I already may have access to the solution i am after but cant find a way to keep the data and schema the same during deployment, ie development server SQL database to be the same thing as what i put on the sql server host during the deployment of the web application
i was using Quest Rocket compare to sync data and schema, it worked fine but they dropped that project with the intro by MS of VS08, ie the Quest plug-in works in VS05 but not in VS08 anyway, i probably have the solution I am after at my disposal due to my MSDN subscription which includes SQL server products, but my first problem there, is that i cant identify which MS tool to download and to use that will do the same thing or better than the Quest Rocket compare product,
i believe the solution i need is the full version of SQL Management Studio (which i think i have due to my MSDN subsctiption but my second problem 2) is i cant find in that full studio download in my MSDN subscriber area) also is it only the full verison of SQL Mgt studio and not the Express version that might have the "sync" capabiltiy, is that correct? or is there a way (I am a intemediate on SQL techonologies), within the Express Management Studio to painlessly sync both the schema and the data? I am using VS08 Pro, so mayber there is a way in the VSIDE to do the syncing, I think i tried the Publisher but ran into difficulties, am going to try that again and repost here what those difficulties were,
SO really just after a nice tool or utility that will keep SQL database schema and data the same during the deployment process for the web application i build, kinda urgent to as am buried and dont have time to breath.
I'm working on a project in vb.net framework 2.0 and have a column that has server names. I have the accessdb sql setup to order by the db, what I would like to do is to have it look like the following picture below. I'm pretty stumped on how to do it as the methods I've found online haven't worked so well. Also just a small tid-bit the gridview is bound to a ddl which selects the application and the gridview refreshes with server data. It is sorted by server than environment so the columns contain much of the same info for those over and over. Country would be server name and state would be the environment.
I'm a bit new to the whole asp.net thing so this is probably a silly question, but here it goes: I have created a WCF Data service based based on a ADO.net Entity--it's very basic:
I have two tables which i was able to merge in one datalist, but now am trying to merge more than two tables in one datalist and i couldn't figure out how to do that.
Here is the storedprocedure:
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[merge] @UserID int AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON;
I have a Gridview connected to an Access database using a Datasource and a query SELECT * FROM [Staff]. In order to update the grid view I have to do it in the IDE and click Refresh Schema. I have tried:
StaffList.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM [Staff]" StaffList.UpdateCommand = "SELECT * FROM [Staff]" StaffList.DataBind() Staff.DataBind()
i have a gridview in my website and i want to merge two cell of that in same column but in different row , for example i have a data about tours in an agency , now i define a tour that has two hotel with difference grade , i want tow show my grid view in this manner :
I've created a DataTable by programming and I'v inserted a new DataRow into it, I binded it with a gridview (It's ok), but that new row has many columns, how can I merge all columns of that new row and set the value will be show of that row.
Here is my snipet:
Store1
row [Column1],[Column2],[Column3]
row [Column1],[Column2],[Column3]
Store2 (new row I've created and I want to merge all columns and show the value is Store2)
I have two datasets called ds and ds1 that I want to merge into a grid. I get data from the first dataset to display in the grid but the second dataset where I want to display a count I don't get any data from it. I am trying a ds.Merge(ds1). here is the code i have for the sub. What am I doing incorrectly?
want to merge the columns into gridview example SELECT b.TableName,c.ColumnName,a.DataProfileAction,(a.ForeignTable+'/'+a.DataProfileAction) As MergeRecords From DataProfiling As a Inner Join TableList As b ON a.TableId= b.TableId Inner Join MetaDataTable As c ON a.ColumnId=c.ColumnIdquery working.. suppose if any one column empty while binding times it come as empty..
You're using NHibernate with Fluent NHibernate for mappings.
You have an application in production with a database with live data You're adding a new feature in development and it requires a new database column.
The new column cannot be blank. For example, I recently had to a DateCreated column to a table and the app now uses that date. As the only time the data will be missing is now, it seems unnecessary to add code to check for errors.
In my application I have an updater which can execute a SchemaUpdate to add the new database column - however, the application will starting crashing as it is expecting a value in the new column.
I need to get some sensible default data into that column. In this case I manually ran an Update to set the date to the current date (good enough for the situation). In this particular case I believe that you cannot set the column default to getdate() using fluent mappings.
Keep a schema version number in a config file In the updater that runs SchemaUpdate start adding upgrade methods for each version. These methods would run updates to add default data (or other required actions).
After the schema update has been run, call all methods required for a version greater than the current version (i.e. those that haven't previously been run). So if the app is now version 4 and version 2 is installed, methods 3 and 4 would be run.
I'm having a problem with a FormView control that I have bound to an ObjectDataSource. The problem is that the FormView control is not automatically filled in with the public properties of the object linked by an ObjectDataSource control when I select refresh schema. Everything compiles and I can add fields manually, but there are a lot of properties in the class and I do not want to deal with adding all the fields by hand. It's not the end of the world of course if I have to add them manually, but I'm bothered more by the fact that it doesn't act the other formviews.
Has anyone ever experienced a problem like this? I have other objectdatasource controls with other formviews that properly refresh their schemas. I noticed that in the objectdatasource control that is giving me problems, the DataObjectTypeName field is not automatically set as it is in the others. However, after adding it manually it still doesn't refresh the schema. I'm using Visual Studio 2010. Defined in .aspx page:

The SPFModuleBLL class contains the GetModule2() method which is shown here:
